Christian Usenet newsgroups are not even recommended for Christians

by Don Koenig

I debated on Usenet Christian newsgroups for about two years when I first started my website and feel my time there was rather unproductive. My posting there generated about 100 views a month to my home page but it was at the cost of many hours of time debating the trolls.

It appears that those that hang out at the Christian newsgroups on Usenet are either anti-Christ, perverted, or they are on some personal crusade for their denominational, demonic, or cultic view. Some just want an argument or to show everyone how smart they are. Others want to change the subject of every thread to a debate on their satanic views. Most soon get personal rather than debating the issues. I have found few who really want to learn anything. The groups seem to be occupied with many unemployed disabled people who have nothing better to do with their lives than to argue the same old arguments to ad nauseam. Some of those who call themselves Christians on these groups are just plain nut cases. Most sane Christians just get tired of sifting through the junk and the endless discussions on topics that have been debated repeatedly and give up or go to the monitored newsgroups. Unfortunately, unmonitored Christian Usenet newsgroups are left more and more with perverted trolls who would be banned elsewhere.

I find it simply astounding that those claiming to be Christian do not know even the basics of biblical truth. Many of these only understand what their denomination taught them. The real ugly truth is that many who call themselves Christians are no more part of the saved Church than any other religious group who
trusts in their dogma to save them. Many who call themselves Christians need to come to Jesus and be saved! Some of these are those who Christ addressed for correction in five of the seven letters to the churches in the book of Revelation. They need to read these letters in the Bible and my article on amillennialism.

The preterist's who crusade in the Bible prophecy news groups think all prophecy was fulfilled in 70 AD. They are unteachable because their view is based on false assumptions that they blindly believe. They base their theology on the premise that John wrote the book of Revelation prior to 70 AD but virtually all scholarship says that it was written in 95 or 96 AD. They also know that if this scholarship is correct then all their theories are wrong. Yet, on this flimsy assumption they have the gall to attack other Christians who take the Bible in a literal sense on public forums. Even the preterist attempt to make history fit scripture is completely beyond any common reason.

Posting on Usenet also opens the door to huge amounts of spam email. Until I changed my ISP I was getting about 150 spam messages a day due to my posting to Usenet newsgroups and much of it is very sick perverted stuff. For that reason alone I do not recommend that Christians post on Usenet.

I now have two blogs open to the public on topics of discussion one is on Bible prophecy and world current events the other documents proof that the world is becoming increasingly demented. I do have some control over any content that is posted.
