The Failed Immigration Bill and Angelica Salas
Southland Activists React To Failed Immigration Bill - Vote News Story - KNBC Los Angeles:
“This morning, the Senate failed the American people by not moving forward debate on immigration reform,” said Angelica Salas, executive director of Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights of Los Angeles. “Our elected representatives are effectively saying to the American public that they are throwing their hands up into the air and refusing to deliver on their promise to fix our broken immigration system.”
“Our elected leaders — people who are supposed to stand up on behalf of Americans — were bullied by a small contingent of hate-mongering anti- immigrants completely unrepresentative of the larger American public, which continues to call for just, humane and effective solutions.”Our elected leaders — people who are supposed to stand up on behalf of Americans — were bullied by a small contingent of hate-mongering anti- immigrants completely unrepresentative of the larger American public, which continues to call for just, humane and effective solutions.’”
She has it all ass backward. She ought to check the polls before making such a lame remark. People like her are totally out of touch with America. The American people wanted the bill dead and the Senators had a hard time hearing until the American people let them know the Senators were their representatives and they would be looking for new jobs if they did not listen.
The American people including the conservatives are not saying there should not be immigration reform. They are saying the government needs to enforce the immigration laws already in place and secure the borders so any future reforms can work. They do not want some shamnesty bill drafted behind closed doors that will just make things worse for the US, like the last Kennedy immigration reform farce of the 1980’s.
For you to call Americans who opposed this bill hate-mongering anti-immigrants is hate speech against the majority of Americans. Perhaps since you hate us so much you would really be more comfortable living somewhere else?
