The Family practice doctor had to work at least 3 more years for slave wages as an intern and resident. Government bureaucrats do little additional training, while a Family Practice Doctor has to do continuing medical education each year often on their own time and money. As you indicated, many doctors do charity work as well, on their own dime. When was the last time you seen a Government bureaucrat taking two weeks unpaid leave and pay for a trip themselves to go help people with their skills in another nation? Most physicians are generally underpaid in this country for the educations they have, the hours they work and the responsibility they have.
