    If they want to get the mob out of the country maybe some of those in gov’t might consider starting to act less like the mob themselves.

    Seriously though, I think the problem with the Mafia in Italy is that many ordinary people seem to accept it as part of their society. For that reason, I don’t think the Mafia is ever going to dissapear. Unless the people start fighting back at the Mafia themselves and local authorities commit themselves to fight against the corruption within their own ranks first.
