I agree with you that we need to become energy independent but I disagree with some of your statements. You say OPEC can never be brought under control and then you say OPEC is breaking international law. Yet, you do not explain why members of the WTO cannot prosecute the obvious price fixing conspiracy of OPEC. Why have international laws and agreements if they cannot be enforced? But, assumings you are right, there are other ways to bring OPEC down.

I disagree with your conclusions of how we will free ourselves of oil dependence. Alcohol will play a small role but it should not be our major focus it may do more harm than good. Bio diesel or coal slurry would make more sense although neither will be clean fuels. Having said that, here is what I believe we really need to do.

Convert the whole Nevada nuclear test range and nuclear waste storage above ground areas to solar collectors. This eminence land area will cost us nothing and the land is useful for nothing else. Energy for solar electric when mass produced using the latest technology and technology that is now under development can be produced at less than the cost of coal.

So what does that have to do with cars and fuel oil? All cars should be converted to solar because once we get these solar stations up and running there will be a huge surplus of electric. Much of that surplus electric could either be converted to hydrogen or more likely our cars could just use electric motors and quick charge stations.

One major problem has been the limitations of batteries. The answer probably is not in a better longer range battery. The answer is in a super capacitor that will recharge in the time it now takes to fill your tank with gas and that will provide a three hundred mile range between recharges. That technology is now already under development. When the solar pieces come together you will be able to power your car for a couple of cents per mile. There already is plenty of off hour night time generating capacity in the US to power most of the cars in the US. All this could be phased in, within one decade.

All we really need to get this rolling is for big money to get behind this project and for the oil lobby and special interest politicians to butt out. Google has started the funding process pledging hundred of millions of dollars, now where are the multi billion dollar foundations and the capitalists?

You want to know why? Most of your pastors and leaders really do not care enough about the children to do anything about these laws that will brainwash the children and pervert them. Do you? It is nice to hear that the majority still have some common sense.

The person or persons who said that they do not know anyone that drinks one beer obviously is hanging around with the wrong people. I suppose he would say the same thing about those who have a glass of wine with dinner? I have news, the vast majority of wine drinkers have one or two glasses of wine and then stop. It is the same with most beer drinkers. The comment that beer and wine does not taste good is a totally ridiculous statement to those who like these food products. This same person probably loves sugar drinks or coffee and does not see his hypocrisy.

Medical science says there are plenty of good reasons to take a small amount of alcohol. Almost all the adults in Jesus day drank some wine. There was no refrigeration so juice quickly fermented. You really think Paul told Timothy to drink grape juice?

Even the statement that elders and deacons were not to be big drinkers of wine implied that wine was in common use in the Church. Do you really think that in the communion services in the early Church that they used unfermented grape juice?

Proverbs 20:1 is talking about drinking in excess. If you need more clarification read the rest of the scriptures. I guess you are telling us that that Jesus is also one of the “not wise” mentioned, because Jesus drank wine?

Jesus contrasted himself with John who did not drink wine. Jesus drank wine so they called Him a wine bibber. For drinking grape juice? Get real!

I get tired of these nonsensical Christians that get their views from legalistic interpretation of certain passages while ignoring all the other scriptures that refute their traditional or legalistic assumptions.

I get even more tired of control freaks who try to make normal practices sinful and that try to put Christians on guilt trips when they did nothing wrong. They even write their man made doctrines into their church covenants making many that join hypocrites and barring those who are not hypocrites from their church membership. The cartel should be broken up it is illegal. However, the courts take too long. All consuming nations should get together and tell the oil producing nations the most any nation in the world will be willing to pay for their product. It should be a fair price and it should be adjusted for inflation but certainly not more than about $50 a barrel. Countries would be free to sell for less than that price but if they do not want to sell it at the world’s capped rate they can just shut down their wells and live in their own self induced squallier.

There is no reason why the nations of the world should be held hostage by oil producing nations. Would this produce a energy shortage? Perhaps it would short term and each nation could deal with those shortages in their own unique ways. For the West to obtain the oil it needs it might mean not selling anything to any nation that will not sell their known oil producing capability at the capped rate. In other words let them eat their oil, make their own products, and their weapons and don’t expect any help from the West on anything.

Oil companies should be told to put a major percentage of their profits back into exploration, energy development and building refineries or their profits should be taxed to fund new energy development.

If the world cannot even get its act together to stop this extortion ring from causing the death of poor subsistence farmers, impoverishing third world nations and possibly causing a world depression. How in the world it is going to agree on other pressing world issues?

When that happens with insurance and other car related expenses working poor people will spend $600 a month in order to drive to a job where they will only take home $1000 a month. If Politicians want a revolution in this country they are legislating a sure path to one.

It would bring the certain end of them which of course is not in their best interest. Terrorists are not even having success in attacking soft targets in the US so they are not about to hit a hard target unless they have a nuke. In that case they would more likely go after a large city not a secure base that is spread out over square miles. I should believe the border patrol is not going to notice 60 well armed men in the deserts of Arizona? The border patrol is everywhere in this area you can’t even take a leak in the desert without being under observation.
