Just a good century ago they couldn’t care less about Jerusalem and Al Aqsa. Even the Iraqi king Faisal supported the fact that a large numbers of Jews were returning to their homeland. I don’t doubt for a moment that Muslims at one time actually regarded the region of ‘Palestine’ as God’s promised land to the people of Israel. Perhaps some still do.
The problem is that Islam cannot tolerate if someone ‘takes away’ land that once was ‘theirs’ (i.e. conquered for Islam). But more than the land itself, Jerusalem is what matters most. You can give the Palestinians as much as you want, as long as they can’t have Al Quds (Jerusalem) as their capital, they won’t give up their struggle. They want Muslims to regain control over the holy sites of Jerusalem; they cannot tolerate Jews to rule over them. According to the Sharia, Jews and Christians can be tolerated to some extent as they are ‘People of the Book’ (the Bible) but no Muslim is allowed to convert to Judaism or Christianity, and Jews and Christians will be taxed for their faith. It is unthinkable that a Jew or Christian would excercise control over ‘Islamic’ land and holy sites.
These days many Muslim leaders say there are no Jewish connections with the holy land and the Temple Mount. I don’t believe that those scholars actually believe that themselves. They are lying. They know pretty damn well there are Jewish connections to the site. I’ve read that the Al Aqsa mosque was actually named - or was to be named, I’m not sure - Masjid Dawood (Mosque of David), in reference to King David who chose the place as the location where the temple was to be built. Even a member of the Waqf - the Islamic council guarding the site - admitted the Jewish connections. Upon which he was expelled, of course.
As for the claim that the Bible is corrupted, that is totally irrelevant to this issue. Islam did accept the existence of the temple in Jerusalem and considers David and Solomon to be prophets. They also believe in the prophet Abraham and the sacrifice of his son (not Isaac but Ishmael according to the truly corrupted Qur’an) and that the stone on which this happened is on the Temple Mount. So do Jews.
So why is it they’re making such a fuzz about the Temple Mount if the Qur’an itself is silent about Jerusalem and Muhammad died in Medinah? Again, because they want to be in control of Jerusalem and its holy sites. They alone and nobody else.
The Islamic world and its religious leader need a self-check but those who are so dumb to invite this obvious and preposterous liar should go without paycheck!
The only possible ‘peace ‘for the Palestinians and most of the Islamic World is when present-day Israel and Jerusalem belongs to Dar al-Islam (House of Islam) again.
I think it is of great importance that people learn about the Islamic worldview. Today, Islam in the Western World is in a stage between that of Dar Al-Islam and Dar Al-Harb (House of war). Anyone interested can read more about it here and here.
