Bank of America and their un-American activities
Bank of America has the most arrogant phone staff that I have ever encountered. Once when I noticed that they were charging me large fees for several months on a checking account that I had since changed to a non fee account. I called them trying to correct their error and get back my money.
After playing the phone game with their first line of defense and finding no one who would give me back my money no matter how I explained the issue. I asked to speak to the supervisor of the first line of defense supervisor who told me that it was my fault for not checking the monthly bank statements. After I pointed out to her that their own bank policy allows 60 days for me to inform them of errors. She reluctantly agreed to refund only two months fees. She also sarcastically said she would flag my account (indicating basically to me that I got something that I should not have and that I better not try something like that again). The fees were never refund to me even after her promise! Needless to say I moved my account to another bank and I will never bank with Bank of America again. It is my opinion that this bank is un-American and is out of control.
Debit Cards: Bank Of America Won’t Let You Access Your Money
Tags: control freaksSilly Bill. He thought Bank of America would let him spend $5,800 on a home theater system just because he had over $10,000 in the bank. He tried to charge the system to his Bank of America Visa Platinum Check Card but was declined. Confused, Bill called Bank of America customer support for an explanation and had the sort of conversation that makes you want to drive a fork through your ear.

I read an article on 2/28 where Bank of America is suggesting to Congress that they make a new government agency to handle the failing mortgages, offering low fixed rates on their failing sub-prime and adjustable rate mortgages. Why not let free market forces determine what should happen to these banks that have caused this mess in the first place? Bank of America has over-charged their customers on all their products, whether it is personal banking, mortgages and credit cards. They make good money they should be able to weather this little storm.
They want taxpayers to bail them out for making stupid loan decisions and even stupider decisions like buying up Countryside. I say, if they are going to practice bad business practices let them pay for it or go broke. Why should the taxpayers bail them out just so they can continue in bad business practices and greedy speculation knowing that taxpayers will just bail them out next time when their gambles again come up snake eyes. That goes for all involved in this, not just BOA.
