When government balances its budget on the backs of smokers because they are a minority and they can do it and still be reelected I would have no problem rationalizing buying smuggled cigarettes to keep these government bullies from robbing me (I am not a smoker). When governments try to balance their budgets on the back of mostly low and lower middle class smokers they themselves are creating the smuggling problem. When government adds several dollars to the cost of one pack of cigarettes they make it very lucrative for smugglers. So what did New York State do about the problem reported in this article. They just raised taxes $1.25 a pack this year to $2.75 to help with their budget shortfall. Every time the states or the Feds raise cigarette taxes they call it a win win situation. They say less people will smoke and they will raise more tax revenue. Obviously there is also a lose lose situation the governments do not tell you about. They are promoting crime and robbing poor people.

I do not smoke but let me tell you what I see going on. My observations are that when one in a couple smoke they both smoke. Most have a family income of less then $30,000 and some are on government assistance. They are addicted and they are not going to quit smoking because government raised the taxes. They each smoke at least a pack a day or 60 packs a month. At $5 a pack it costs them $300 a month. They do not have that much disposable income so some necessities are put off indefinitely. Often their children go without or they live in substandard housing, etc.

Liberal answers to all revenue shortfalls is more taxes especially on things that they do not like and their answer to social problems is to tax or legislate them out of existence. It has never worked and they should not then act surprised when their laws bring these additional problems.

The report reads in part: Cigarette smuggling is generating millions of dollars every year that can be reaching terrorist groups, including Hezbollah, Hamas and Al Qaeda, according to law enforcement sources. In a single case, $100,000 was sent to Hezbollah.

“This is a very serious homeland security issue, one that has gone unnoticed for far too long,” said Rep. Peter King, (R-N.Y.), the ranking member of the House Homeland Security Committee, who called for the investigation.

“Cigarette smugglers are able to generate millions of dollars in illegal profits with a great deal of this wealth being sent to terrorist groups overseas – groups that would like nothing more than to inflict devastating harm on our country and its citizens.”

One of the key issues, according to the report, is a potential flaw in New York State policy. According to King’s office, there is a policy in the state of “forebearance,” or refusing to collect on sales of Native American tax-free cigarettes to non-Native Americans.

Critics of the policy say it has effectively created a safe haven for smugglers. In some cases, the report says, a well-organized operation can buy cigarettes tax-free on New York’s Indian reservations and sell them at a great profit in the New Yock City area,

Undermeasurement of inflation, in particular, hangs over our heads like a guillotine. To acknowledge it would send interest rates climbing, and thereby would endanger the viability of the massive buildup of public and private debt (from less than $11 trillion in 1987 to $49 trillion last year) that props up the American economy. Moreover, the rising cost of pensions, benefits, borrowing, and interest payments—all indexed or related to inflation—could join with the cost of financial bailouts to overwhelm the federal budget. As inflation and interest rates have been kept artificially suppressed, the United States has been indentured to its volatile financial sector, with its predilection for leverage and risky buccaneering.

Arguably, the unraveling has already begun. As Robert Hardaway, a professor at the University of Denver, pointed out last September, the subprime lending crisis “can be directly traced back to the [1983] BLS decision to exclude the price of housing from the CPI. . .With the illusion of low inflation inducing lenders to offer 6 percent loans, not only has speculation run rampant on the expectations of ever-rising home prices, but home buyers by the millions have been tricked into buying homes even though they only qualified for the teaser rates.” Were mainstream interest rates to jump into the 7 to 9 percent range—which could happen if inflation were to spur new concern—both Washington and Wall Street would be walking in quicksand. The make-believe economy of the past two decades, with its asset bubbles, massive borrowing, and rampant data distortion, would be in serious jeopardy. The U.S. dollar, off more than 40 percent against the euro since 2002, could slip down an even rockier slope.

The credit markets are fearful, and the financial markets are nervous. If gloom continues, our humbugged nation may truly regret losing sight of history, risk, and common sense.

Here is an inconvenient truth about those inconvenient politicians who are the cause of the rising food prices and food riots all over the world.

Al Gore took it. It’s an “Inconvenient Truth,” says Al, “that the gasoline that runs our cars is ruining the planet, causing global warming.”

Responding to this threat, about 30 percent of the U.S. corn crop last season was diverted to ethanol production, mandated and subsidized by the government. The goal was to use less gasoline, reduce CO2 emissions and lessen our dependence on foreign oil.

After all the cost and effort, gasoline use was reduced only about 1 percent. However, corn prices shot up, causing a ripple effect for all food products containing corn from flakes to tortillas. Then wheat prices went up, too, because less wheat had been planted to make room for the mandated and subsidized corn.

In spite of these consequences, the all-but-tied Democratic presidential contenders, Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton advocate more biofuel production. Both would expand the 2005 mandate to 36 billion gallons by 2022, rising to 60 billion gallons by 2030. With the Iowa (corn growing state) primary looming last January, Obama advocated expanding the federal mandate for corn-based ethanol, and Clinton switched her 2005 opposition to mandates to support.

The Republican nominee, John McCain, lost the Iowa primary, famously opposed to biofuel mandates and biofuel subsidies and tariffs. He would abolish the $.51 per gallon subsidy the federal government pays to fuel blenders for using ethanol and the $.54 per gallon tariff imposed on imported ethanol, such as Brazilian sugar cane based ethanol.

Meanwhile the higher price of gasoline costs the average American family an additional $1,500/year.

Chuck Baldwin views are too radical to even win an election to become pastor of most Baptist churches. I respect some of his views but America will not support him. You would think that a national party that exists to bring back government to the intent of its founders could come up with a more qualified and more well known candidate. I think this party will soon be over. Baldwin will have zero impact on this election and he will not start a third party grass roots movement for the future either.

Blame Clinton, greens for high gas prices

Environmental extremists prefer to mandate the expanded use of ethanol, rather than using abundant oil supplies. This alternative produces less energy per gallon of fuel than gasoline, while driving the price of food upward, causing riots and forcing the cultivation of more land where wildlife can no longer flourish.

Environmental extremists wring their hands and cry crocodile tears at the thought of “ruining” the Alaska National Wildlife Refuge by using only 2,000 of the 18 million acres for oil production. But they seem to have no problems with the idea of covering millions of acres in the southwest with solar panels.

Environmental extremists celebrate their victory in banning DDT to save birds. But they have no problem with miles and miles of wind turbines that slaughter millions of birds every year. Nor do they seem to have any sympathy for the millions of people who have died from malaria as a direct result of the ban on DDT.

Big oil is not to blame for the high price of gasoline; the blame must fall squarely in the lap of the environmental extremists who use propaganda and fear-mongering to block the increases in the production of readily available fossil fuels. There are sufficient reserves of coal to last about 200 years. Despite Jimmy Carter’s 1970s declaration that the world would be out of oil by 2000, and considering the anticipated increase in demand, there are enough known oil reserves to last at least 60 years. This energy should be available now.

Every time a person fills up at the pump, he should visualize the billions of barrels of oil that are waiting in Alaska, and the billions of barrels of oil that are waiting in the Dakotas and Montana, and the billions of barrels of oil that are waiting just off shore – and curse the environmental extremists who are forcing him to pay far more for his transportation than is necessary.

I guess stupid people who cannot pass the tests or poor people who cannot take the courses will not be able to have pets in rule-loving (Fascist) Switzerland. Gordon Brown’s nauseating globalism

Brown’s tedious, hour-long speech impudently demanded that we issue a “Declaration of Interdependence” in order to submit to global governance. That’s another way of calling on the United States to repeal the Declaration of Independence.

The redundancy of Brown’s outrageous semantics was oppressive. His speech used the word global 69 times, globalization 7 times, and interdependence 13 times.

Brown rejected the traditional concept of national sovereignty, which means an independent nation not subservient to outside control, telling Americans to replace it with “responsible sovereignty,” which he defined as accepting what he calls our global “obligations.” Hold on to your pocketbook.

Brown admitted that his “main argument” is that the United States must accept “new global rules,” “new global institutions” and “global networks.” Brown’s global rules include massive U.S. cash handouts and opening U.S. borders to the world.

Brown even slipped in an attempt at thought control: “Americans must learn to think inter-continentally.” He declaimed, “We are all internationalists now.”

Using the rhetorical device of inevitability, Brown warned Americans that his vision of the globalist future is “irreversible transformation.” He wants to “transcend states” and “transcend borders” as he builds the “architecture of a global society.”

Brown peddled the nonsense that the peoples of the world “subscribe to similar ideals.” He tried to tell Americans that all religions (Christians, Jews, Muslims, Hindus, Sikhs and Buddhists) have “common values” and “similar ideals.” No, they certainly do not.

Brown wants to increase the power of the United Nations to become the source of “an international stand-by capacity of trained civilian experts, ready to go anywhere at any time,” and even be able to exercise “military force.” Americans do not intend to cede such authority to the corrupt United Nations.

The silliest part of Brown’s ponderous speech was his claim that “a global society” is “advancing democracy widely across the world.” In fact, he doesn’t even practice democracy in his own country.

They call this a news worthy study of echinacea and colds? 58 people over 8 weeks! Give me a break!

Lets see, I would think that over 8 weeks about 20 of the 58 people would normally be expected to get a cold. Then of the 29 who took the echinacea (ten of these might get a cold in this period ) had 5 fewer sick days than the other 29 that took a placebo? Seems to me that your study supports that those who took echinacea had five fewer sick days and thus probably had fewer colds.

If you are going to publish studies on echinacea publish a study that actually proves something. A study needs to be done on hundreds or thousands of people over a whole season in the way that people are directed to take echinacea. You are not supposed to take echinacea everyday for colds. You only take it when you are exposed to colds or when you are already coming down with a cold to lessen the duration. We already have studies that prove if you take echinacea every day it becomes less effective and might even be worse then taking nothing at all. However, if you take it as directed studies prove it will help prevent colds and lessen the duration of colds.

Mr. Bush was reportedly told last week by his Director of National Intelligence, Adm. Mike McConnell, that the U.S. intelligence community does not believe the regime in Pyongyang will denuclearize and that it will, instead, simply cheat on this deal as on all the previous ones. I think it is a bit early to say the earth is cooling and that the sunspot activity will not pick up again but like Physicist Phil Chapman said, the earth has not warmed further in the last ten years and it could now be going into a cooling period.

I do not see the logic of the counterclaim in this article that the earth is still warmer on the average then it was several decades ago. That has nothing at all to do with the claim of Chapman. He claims that the earth will now grow cooler based on sunspot theory. You people seem to imply that the earth is now too warm where it is now. Are you people really implying that the earth was better off when the earth was one degree cooler? Give me a break! The claim that brightness on the sun did not vary much says nothing about his claim either. Who is talking about brightness? You people really believe that the only solar heating factor is the sun’s brightness?

My advise is to not do anything about climate. Why make Al Gore and all his elitist friends rich at your expense and why let government take control of every aspect of your life for nothing? This is what the climate change hype is really about.

Sunspot activity has not resumed up after hitting an 11-year low in March last year, raising fears that — far from warming — the globe is about to return to an Ice Age, says an Australian-American scientist.

Physicist Phil Chapman, the first native-born Australian to become an astronaut with NASA [he became an American citizen to join up, though he never went into space], said pictures from the U.S. Solar and Heliospheric Observatory (SOHO) showed no spots on the sun.

He said the world cooled quickly between January last year and January this year, by about 0.7 degrees Centigrade.

“This is the fastest temperature change in the instrumental record, and it puts us back to where we were in 1930,” Chapman wrote in The Australian Wednesday. “If the temperature does not soon recover, we will have to conclude that global warming is over.”

Here lies the problem of communism, socialism, liberalism or whatever else you may wish to call it. It takes from those who are responsible to subsidize those who choose to live irresponsibly. Pretty soon for obvious reasons the number of the irresponsible are increasing and the responsible are decreasing. By the next generation their are enough irresponsible people to vote in irresponsible leaders who spend far beyond the means of the nation for the continuing increasing benefits of the irresponsible citizens. After another generation or two the nation is totally bankrupt and it fails. We are very near that point now in the U.S. The life span of socialism in a republic can only be a few generations.

that government subsidizes the results of our behavior. The public

diseases are hard to fathom, let alone the millions in taxpayer dollars
devoted to abortion. And those are just two examples of many.

That’s the trouble with a citizenry that seeks a government solution to every problem. Income redistribution is simply a catalyst for punishing one taxpayer for the poor choices of another (assuming the other even pays taxes). A young man who waits to have sex until he is able to support a wife and child is penalized in favor of his friend who chooses the path of loose living.

Take health care as another example. Government-run care, and the inevitable tax increases associated with it, would have the effect of punishing the healthy since those who exercise and eat right could pay out significant amounts but receive fewer services than couch potatoes and fast food aficionados. Government subsidies always encourage the activity being subsidized.

America is swiftly drowning in a sea of decadence, and taxpayer dollars are paying the way for many of the worst offenders. Such a system can’t endure for long. We’re concerned with rising gas prices and a falling dollar, and rightly so, but what about tax policies that promote cultural decay?

The Communist Party USA openly advocates to “defeat McCain and strengthen Democratic majorities in Congress” and to elect either Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton in 2008.

The CPUSA itself says electing more Democrats helps the Communist cause. And we frogs think it’s comfortable in here.

Obama is an ultra liberal elitist idealist and univeralist who believes that all problems can be solved if he is in charge. Like many products of our modern educational system truth is what he wants it to be and says it is. Obama claims to have all the social solutions but the numbers do not add up. There simply is no way to pay for all his social programs. It will not only fail it will bring the nation to economic ruin. There is no way his foreign policy will work either. If he thinks he can deal with evil tyrants and terrorists by tossing sweet carrots to them he will openly be made a fool like Jimmy Carter and then he will probably overreact with his stick and start a war.

Obama obviously cannot take criticisms. Can you imagine the reaction of Obama if the press and the people of this country turn against him and mock him like they have done to George Bush. At least McCain knows he has a problem in this area and he might become aware of any overreaction before he does something foolish. Obama’s reaction toward America or another nation may be more like his pastor. Beware of Oprahitis Obamutopia and Yeswecanland these are Liberal islands of delusion.

Beware Obamutopia

Obama’s recurring theme rears its naive head again: We can all get along – even terrorists – if we remove the arbitrary barriers against believing in man’s perfectibility and that even terrorists and tyrants aren’t evil.

Obama’s health care proposals are similarly fantastic. He would provide every American with coverage that’s at least equal to that of members of Congress. With his executive wand, he would reduce everyone’s premiums by $2,500 a year and outlaw exclusions for pre-existing conditions. Dr. Barack would also mandate that the health care industry focus more on prevention and primary care. But wait, there’s more: He’ll accomplish all this by the end of his first term.

This is just a sampling. But what’s scarier than Obama’s far-fetched promises is that people – in droves – believe them. We must hope others are paying closer attention.

Hysteria is rampant and the people have become delusional. There should be a war against progressive mental illness from the halls of Time Magazine to the shores of Massachusetts and California.

From fighting evil to fighting carbon emissions

The Time cover is cheap heroism. It is a liberal attempt to depict as equally heroic those who fight carbon emissions and those who fought Japanese fascists and Nazis.

Second, for much of the left, the cover reflects the primacy of environmental concerns over moral concerns. For example, the left seemed never to care about the millions of Africans who continued to die from malaria largely because of the environmentalists’ worldwide ban on the use of DDT as pesticide. The same holds true for another left-wing environmentalist fantasy. Changing corn into biofuels is causing a surge in food prices throughout the world. The European Union continues this policy despite warnings even from some environmentalists that food shortages, starvation and food riots are imminent. But human suffering is not as significant as environmental degradation.

Third, the left is far more internationalist – global, if you will – in its orientation than national. As the Time article states, “Going green: What could be redder, whiter and bluer than that?” Whereas, for most Americans patriotism remains red, white and blue, for much of the left it is green.

Fourth, the further left you go, the more inclined you are to hysteria. From the threat of DDT to the threat of heterosexual AIDS in America to that mass killer secondhand smoke, the left believes and spreads threats that, unlike the threat of Islamic terror, really are “scare tactics.”

I do not know which is more demented, those who take part in a celebration of pot and rebellion or having laws that half of the nation have broken. Some people are doing hard time in prison as felons for use of marijuana in private while others openly flaunt it in public while law enforcement does nothing. You would think that society would get the message after fifty years of this. If you really want to control lusts of the flesh of sinful people you cannot have a free society. However, the world’s alternative brings repression and tyranny. The only solution for man is to put King Jesus on the throne.

“Dr. Norman Spack runs a clinic for young children who’ve ‘decided’ they are transgendered. Among other things, the clinic administers powerful hormones to delay (or even stop) puberty in order that the children more easily undergo operations that mutilate their bodies to ‘change’ them to the opposite sex.”

Surgeon General’s Warning: Gay sex kills

Can you imagine officials at a middle school, junior high or high school setting aside a day to promote “tolerance” for heavy smoking and drinking among children? How about a day where teachers encourage kids to “embrace who they are,” pick up that crack pipe and give it a stiff toke?

Neither can I. The public would go ballistic, and for good reason.

But that hasn’t stopped officials in thousands of schools across the country from promoting other politically correct and socially “in-vogue” behaviors that – both statistically and manifestly – are every bit as dangerous as the aforementioned frowned-upon behaviors.

That’s exactly what the homosexual activist “Day of Silence” is all about – advancing, through clever, feel-good propaganda and full acceptance of the homosexual lifestyle among children.

“[U]nder even the most liberal assumptions,” concluded the study, “gay and bisexual men in this urban centre are now experiencing a life expectancy similar to that experienced by all men in Canada in the year 1871. … [L]ife expectancy at age 20 years for gay and bisexual men is 8 to 20 years less than for all men.”

This morose reality makes a strong case for a fitting redefinition of so-called “homophobia,” that being “Homophobia: The rational fear that ‘gay sex’ will kill you!”

The fact that we don’t have mandatory surgeon general warnings on the side of condom wrappers is a testament to the power and influence wielded by the radical homosexual lobby. (Warning: Male-male anal sodomy has been proven to shorten your lifespan by up to 20 years.)

The risks associated with homosexual conduct are so drastic, in fact, that U.S. health regulations prohibit men who have sex with men, or MSM, and women who have had sex with MSM, from even donating blood.

Consider that, according to the Food and Drug Administration, MSM, “have an HIV prevalence 60 times higher than the general population, 800 times higher than first-time blood donors and 8,000 times higher than repeat blood donors.”

Adults and children who engage in homosexual conduct, especially males, are also susceptible, at an astronomical rate, to nearly all other forms of sexually transmitted disease (STD). For example, the Hepatitis B virus is about five to six times more prevalent among “gays,” and Hepatitis C is twice as common.

But perhaps most shocking are today’s syphilis rates among homosexual men and adolescents. A recent study conducted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found that although homosexuals comprise only a fraction of the population (1 to 2 percent), they account for an epidemic 64 percent of all syphilis cases.

In light of the irrefutable medical facts, it should be considered criminally reckless for educators to teach children that homosexual conduct is a normal, safe and perfectly acceptable alternative form of sexual expression (or “sexual orientation”).

But instead, the “gay” lifestyle is vigorously promoted in our public schools.

During DOS, children and teachers are encouraged to disrupt the school day by refusing to speak, in a show of support to self-described “gay,” “lesbian,” “bisexual” and “transgender” students. Kids are additionally taught that biblical truth, which holds that human sexuality is a gift from God shared between husband and wife within the bonds of marriage, is “homophobic,” “hateful” and “discriminatory.”

Our schools are supposed to be places of learning, not places of political indoctrination. It’s the height of impropriety and cynicism for “gay” activists and school officials to use good-hearted but misguided children as pawns in their attempt to further a deceptive, highly controversial and polarizing political agenda.

Time’s cover is not only disrespectful and disgraceful their global warming alarmism is absolutely insane. As evidence mounts that global warming is not the threat that some believed it to be, these loons go on a green warpath to alarmism. I guess they need to sell fear to get some green.

For only the second time in 85 years, Time magazine abandoned the traditional red border it uses on its cover. The occasion – to push more global warming alarmism.

The cover of the April 21 issue of Time took the famous Iwo Jima photograph by Joe Rosenthal of the Marines raising the American flag and replaced the flag with a tree. The cover story by Bryan Walsh calls green “the new red, white and blue.”

Donald Mates, an Iwo Jima veteran, told the Business & Media Institute on April 17 that using that photograph for that cause was a “disgrace.”

People are about to reap what they let the eco-nitwits start. The question that will be asked too late is why did most of the world support the nitwits junk science solutions to fix a non existent global warming problem? If people continue to allow themselves to be brainwashed and managed by these silly nitwit eco-loons, elitists and control freaks they will reap very negative consequences.

Food riots caused by rising food prices have erupted around the world. Five people died in uprisings in Haiti, perhaps the first of many casualties to come from the fad of being “green.”

Food riots also broke out in Egypt, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Senegal and Ethiopia. The military is being deployed in Pakistan and Thailand to protect fields and warehouses. Higher energy costs and policies promoting the use of biofuels such as ethanol are being blamed.

“When millions of people are going hungry, it’s a crime against humanity that food should be diverted to biofuels,” an Indian government official told the Wall Street Journal. Turkey’s finance minister labeled the use of biofuels as “appalling,” according to the paper.

Biofuels have turned out to be a lose-lose-lose proposition. Once touted by the greens and the biofuel industry as being able to reduce the demand for oil and lower greenhouse gas emissions, biofuels have accomplished neither goal and have no prospect for accomplishing either in the foreseeable future.

The world has an ever-growing population that needs more and more energy, but the greens are doing everything they can to constrict the world’s energy supply.

As the Sierra Club campaigns to shut down our coal-fired electricity capabilities, the Natural Resources Defense Council campaigns to prevent nuclear power from taking its place. The demise of coal-fired power and the blockage of increased nuclear power will increase the demand for supply constraints on, and the prices for, natural gas.

But then again, environmental advocacy group Earth First perhaps is helping to alleviate the looming natural gas crisis by campaigning against power plants that use the fuel. In a recent campaign against a South Florida power plant, an Earth First campaigner stated that the environment ought not be threatened “so that people can fuel their greedy energy desires.” “Just say ‘no’ to electricity,” seems to be the bottom line of eco-think.

of Insects and Infectious Diseases at the famed Pasteur Institute. He
notes, “no major scientist with any long record in this field” accepts
Gore’s claim that global warming spreads mosquito-borne diseases.

Dr. Zbigniew Jaworowski, a
world-renowned expert on the ancient ice cores used in historical
climate research. He says the U.N. “based its global-warming hypothesis
on arbitrary assumptions and these assumptions, it is now clear, are
false.”

Have you every heard of such an asinine judgment in your life? Don’t you think it is time for the people to find a way to get rid of these loony Federal judges? And why do school boards take it upon themselves to dictate these rules to their teachers? They obviously are controlled by anti religious people not in the mainstream thinking of America. Most of the problems in schools could be taken care of if those who call themselves Christians would just reign in their ultra liberal school boards.

Bow your head, break the law!

A federal appeals court ruled a New Jersey high school football coach who bowed his head while students on his team led prayer broke the law.

The school concluded while it could not infringe on the students’ constitutionally protected right to pray, it could limit the actions of coaches, who are public employees and whose participation allegedly would violate “the separation of church and state.”

It sounds like a real working process that will produce oil from any biomass and it could be the answer for our energy crises but what nobody has mentioned is the cost projections for making this oil when it is mass produced? Perhaps the major national media just does not think it will be cost effective so they do not report on it. From what I read about the process, it seems to me that it could be done at much less than what we are paying for oil now. However, I have no way of really knowing that, so lets hear some realistic cost projection figures per barrel and then maybe we all can get more excited about it.

National news media burying amazing oil breakthrough?

It could potentially be one of the biggest energy breakthroughs in history – genetically manipulating bacteria to quickly convert anything that grows out of the Earth into oil. But the biggest names in the national media have thus far not provided any coverage of this possible solution to skyrocketing gas prices and Ameria’s long-term energy security.

I guess people in Canada and those in the West cannot blame the death of marriage just on the homosexuals. When marriage was downgraded by heterosexuals and people just lived together and did not make any marriage commitment the deconstruction of a God given institution was well under way.

Now the generation of children not brought up with a mother and a father experience the consequences and society will reap the social costs of this arrogant humanistic social experiment. When nobody any longer has natural affections toward members of their family or anyone else you now know why.

What makes the national mistake of legalizing same-sex marriage unique in Canadian history is that to even discuss the issue is considered by many, particularly our elites, to be at the very least in extraordinarily bad taste. Although this is a valid and vital debate about social policy, anyone critiquing the status quo is likely to be marginalized as hateful, extreme or simply mad. Social conservatives aren’t just wrong, they’re evil.

The discussion, we are told, is over. Which is what triumphalist bullies have said for centuries after they win a battle. In this case, the intention is to marginalize anyone who dares to still speak out. In other words, to silence them.

It’s important to emphasize that this is not really about homosexuality at all, and has nothing to do with homosexual people living together. Opponents of same-sex marriage may have ethical and religious objections to homosexuality, but they are irrelevant to the central argument. Which is not about the rights of a sexual minority but the status and meaning of marriage.

Indeed, the deconstruction of marriage began not with the gay community asking for the right to marry but with the heterosexual world rejecting it.

You might think a former president best known for pulling the Persian rug out from under the shah of Iran and rolling out the red carpet for the takeover of that country by Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini might be more circumspect about embracing anti-Jewish, anti-American, anti-Christian and anti-Western Middle East terrorists 30 years later.

But that kind of expectation would only be appropriate if Jimmy Carter were a lucid, rational, moral agent. He has proven once again he is not.

Carter, instead, like so many of his fellow Democratic Party leaders, only seems comfortable when he is undercutting his own country’s national security, demeaning America’s role in the world and, particularly, blaming the Jewish state for all of the problems in the Middle East.

It’s an amazing and mortifying spectacle to behold.

In another era, a former president who acted so recklessly might face treason charges when he returned. Indeed, he should. But, of course, he won’t. His treacherous actions won’t be punished at all – paving the way for more outrageous behavior in the future by him, other ex-presidents and other private citizens who have no business meddling in America’s foreign affairs.

At some point, we have to recognize the obvious: Jimmy Carter hates Israel, he hates America and he is still pursuing some kind of payoff from the oil powers of the Middle East for doing their dirty work for them.

Jimmy Carter: Emissary of evil

Jimmy Carter is all about Jimmy Carter. During his presidency, he gave up the Panama Canal and allowed the Ayatollahs to take power in Iran – all for the praise of the international community. In 1980, he asked the Soviet Union to release Jewish emigrants, hoping that such action would soften American feeling against the USSR and thereby swing the presidential election to him. In 1984, he told the Russians that if Reagan were re-elected, there would not “be a single agreement on arms control, especially on nuclear arms, as long as Reagan remained in power.” In 2002, Carter accepted the Nobel Peace Prize, despite a clear indication by Nobel Committee members that the prize was meant as a rebuke to President Bush.

Does all this make Carter evil, or just a useful idiot? By all accounts, Carter is highly intelligent – perhaps the most intelligent president of the last 50 years. It would be foolish to write him off as simply naive. He is quite willing to be used by dictators from Venezuela to Cuba to North Korea, so long as helping them polishes his legacy. For almost three decades, Carter has pandered to enemies of Western Civilization, shielding his treasonous behavior with the title of “ex-president.” His Hamas-hugging is just the latest entry in a political diary that would make Osama bin Laden proud.

So one can say that human torment is brought about on purpose so the liberal-progressive high priests can play being the saviors of the hell on earth that they created.

As former liberal-progressive Senator Bill Bradley said, liberals always prefer the bureaucrat whom they know to the individual whom they can’t control.

In the case of world food prices, ivory-tower liberal-progressive intellectuals and politicians have, in smug satisfaction, starved the world’s poor to gratify their own self-importance. Worshipping their philosophically materialist goddess of Reason, they are delighted to behold in self-admiration their own images each day in the mirror, believing themselves to be the saviors of abstract intellectual conceits called “humanity” and “the planet.”

Every so often I read the daily news and I just get feed up with the inept leaders that are running this world. They do not seem to have a collective grain of wisdom between them.

Today we read that wholesale prices are up 1.1 percent in one month! Oil is at $113 a barrel and rising and food prices have gone up so much that people in poor countries are in danger of starvation.

Now who were the idiots that suggested we make grains into alcohol to run cars? I recall that Bush signed a piece of nutty legislation that will make 20 percent of our liquid fuel alcohol. The EU and other countries are also converting grains to alcohol. Meanwhile, people in poor countries are going hungry and are in danger of starving. Great thinking guys! With leadership and thinking like that you must of slept through your education classes and especially through your leadership training. These nutty polices must be reversed now!

I know the hype coming from Al Gore, had something to do with these government polices and that is why I say Al Gore is the most dangerous man in the world. Those that follow his leading will in the end bring starvation to millions.

Since you world leaders are clueless let me tell you the solutions?

1. Stop converting grains to make alcohol to run in cars. It was never needed. It is inefficient and the world does not have food to burn! Will this increase demand on oil? Not much. Any oil shortfalls can be taken care of quite easily as I will outline below.

2. Stop paying over $100 a barrel for oil to these vultures. I would not pay more than $50. How do we do that? First we DISBAND OPEC by world or U.S. decree. It is an illegal monopoly. If anyone whats to argue about it, that is why our taxes pay for all our aircraft carrier task forces. They were built to protect us from foreign enemies. If anyone thinks paying these extortion rates for oil (from wells that we developed in the Middle East) are not a huge danger to our country they are not living in reality. By the way, “our friend” Saudi Arabia alone could pump enough additional oil to bring the world oil prices down significantly.

3. Cut through the environmental red tape and allow for oil drilling off our coasts and in Alaska. There is significant oil there. All oil companies during this national emergency should be required to reinvest most profits into new energy production until balanced energy levels are achieved.

4. Vastly expand coal production and scrap all the restrictions put on new coal plants because of the global waring nonsense. We could make liquid fuel out of coal slurry for our cars and also use coal generating plants for spare electric generation at night for charging electric cars.

5. Build some damn refineries. Not one has been built in 30 years in this country mostly due to asinine environmental regulations. Meanwhile stop the insane laws that required scores of different types of fuel and fuel additives that adds to the costs and creates spot fuel shortages. Let the refineries we have produce 5 or 6 different major fuels and not be required to make 50.
