McCain or Obama, does it really matter?
Dennis Prager makes some excellent points why conservative Christians should vote for John McCain.
I am not sure Prager is right about McCain if the governor of California supports him he can’t be as good as he thinks. Even on the Supreme Court issue McCain is not likely to appoint someone to the Supreme Court that will vote with the conservatives. Even George Bush who is much more conservative than John McCain appointed Justice Kennedy who rather than define the meaning of the Constitution just votes the way he thinks things ought to be in this country. I think McCain will pick similar justices and the Supreme Court is going to be stacked with liberal social engineers no matter if it is Obama or McCain. Also keep in mind that when you have a liberal Senate your not going to get a true conservative confirmed by the Senate.
I think one important issue is who will McCain pick for Vice President? After all McCain has a moderately high risk of dying in office at his age and with his health history.
Having said that, any Christian who votes for Obama has redefined Christianity and they need to find out if they are what they say they are.
It seems to me that Americans are about to get what they deserve and what they asked for and there is no way around that reality outside of national repentance. It is also obvious that repentance is not going to happen in this nation before any major judgment.
Conservatives who will not vote for McCain are well-intentioned utopians. They are comparing McCain to a consistently conservative candidate. The reality, however, is that McCain is not running against a consistently conservative candidate. He is running against a consistently left-wing candidate. And America cannot afford to have its first leftist president ever. It can afford liberal presidents – such as Bill Clinton, or Jimmy Carter (who governed as a liberal but became a leftist after leaving the White House), or John F. Kennedy, or Lyndon Johnson, or Harry Truman – i.e., all the Democrats who have been president since World War II. But the Democratic Party has moved well to the left of liberalism. And Barack Obama is at the left of that left-wing party.
Furthermore, given the strong possibility of a Democratic House, a Democratic Senate and a liberal Supreme Court for decades to come, given the number of Supreme Court appointments a Democratic president will be able to make, an Obama victory will move America more radically leftward than ever in its history.
That is why the argument that an Obama administration will be so destructive that Americans will reject the left and then elect a real conservative to undo the damage done in an Obama presidency is deeply flawed.
First of all, other than impeachment, there is no way to undo Supreme Court appointments, two or three of which a President Obama would likely make. And given how active most liberal judges are, it won’t matter much if the country has some conservative epiphany and then elects a Republican president and Congress. Because even if the Congress and the president will not pass liberal legislation, a liberal Supreme Court will. On almost any social issue that matters – the right to bear arms, late-term abortion, the definition of marriage, capital punishment and many others – a liberal Supreme Court will rule on these issues, and there will be nothing that a post-Obama Republican president, even with a Republican Congress, will be able to do about them.

From what I understand, Dennis Prager is a religious jew. However, i doubt that he expects Messiah to make His appearance anytime soon. So, for Dennis, human government is going to be around indefinitely. Thus it makes sense to try to minimize the damage of the more evil by enabling the less evil.
I don’t agree with his assessment that the differences between conservatives and McCain is far less than the differences between Obama and McCain. I’m not convinced that that is even approximate reality, and I have the odd sense these Dennis knows this too but is trying to talk himself into voting for McCain.
I’m sorry, we are rapidly crossing into the last stage of our republic (”bondage”), and I seriously doubt that there is enough time to start the next cycle. In that case, I think we “go for broke:”
We need to have some hardship in this country to:
1. Contrast the People of the Light and the rest of the world (especially in the USA).
2. The rest of the world (and USA) needs a “wakeup” call, perhaps even the “last” call before the rapture.
Anyway, as much as I appreciate Dennis Prager, I remain unconvinced by his argument.

It seems every election we are given a choice between the lessor of two evils and then the religious pundits tell us why we have to vote for what they think is the lesser evil. Then they get elected to office by the Christians and they turn out to be more misguided then anyone expected.
Actually God is in charge. If he wants he can change Obama’s heart and if he wants he can make McCain tragic. We never seem to get the person we expected when we elected them.
I agree that the nation is heading toward hardship.
It makes me real sad to hear other christians as the one who wrote an article on this site asking people to question whether or not they were christians if they were democrats and vote for Obama. You conservative christians are more political than godly; have you forgotten your beloved Bush lied to the American people about WMD’s and started a needless war. All the dead and injured on both sides, and no Osama. And the God I know hates sodomy, and yet I hear nothing from you about Vice President Cheyney openly gay daughter, and all the liberal going ons in our courts. Mrs. Cheyney said she did not see any thing wrong with being gay. You conservatives would have declared blasphemy, if that would have come out of the mouth of a democrat. You said nothing! Could it be tha this powerful family is working hard behind the scenes for gay rights. SHAME ON YOU!!!!!
Gerald Hayes thinks we cannot discern who is a Christian by what they confess out of their own mouth? I very recently posted Obama’s 2004 interview about his religious beliefs so there should be little doubt by what he said that he does not qualify as a Christian. I also questioned Bush’s Christianity on my posts when he started saying everyone worships the same God etc. Pluralistic Universalism is heresy. So I don’t just expose hertical Liberals.
Furthermore, why do you keep repeating Liberal lies when you know they are lies? Bush did not lie to the American people about weapons of mass destruction and you know it. The best intelligence available said that Saddam had WMD and that is what Bush acted on. So if anyone lied it was Intelligence. Most of your own Liberal buddies thought that Saddam had WMD based on the Intelligence that they also received. That is reflected in their own vote to invade. So your claim that Bush lied just shows that like so many Liberals you do not know the issue. Instead of facts they like to make up lies and slogans like “Bush lied people died”.
In spite of your own revisionism, if you were really astute you would know that there actually were WMD in Iraq. They found some and they also know where some others went. Nobody is reporting on it in the Liberal press because they do not want to. It is like trying to get an article against the global warming hype on ABC. Liberals would just rather say that “Bush lied people died”. You Liberals are well educated in using schoolyard tactics of name calling and taunts rather than actually addressing the issues.
Some examples: “Yes we can” but no we cannot drill for oil - it will take too long. “We represent change” change back to tired old socialism that failed everywhere it was tried, “we will bring people together” by forcing an amoral agenda on the Heartland and causing great division in the nation. Must I go on?
Few dispute that taking out Saddam was a good move. What they dispute is the way we conducted the aftermath of the war and thus turned the religious militias against us. So your whole argument about Bush lying causing the deaths is a lie. What caused the deaths is our own civil government’s miscalculations and their micro management of the military. Not that the Democrats did not do the exact same thing in Nam.
Why should I talk about Cheney’s homosexual daughter? Is she running for high office? I don’t talk about the life of any of the children of Presidents or Vice Presidents. I never once said that Cheney or his wife were Christians so your point is meaningless. What about your own gay Aunt Mildred is she out of the closet?
So enough with the lies and insinuations. What is your real problem? Are you in love with the amoral agenda of Obama?
First off, I’m not a liberal. I’m a christian, and thank my God that your opinion of me means nothing to Him. I sense anger in your response. My main point is people of God ought to get away from labels and condeming people as if they are God. Conservatives are no better than liberals, and liberals no better than conservatives. If conservatives are so holy, why, under a Republican president, and a conservative supreme court is our country becoming godless, ten commandments thrown out and gays are having their way in courts across the land. The WMD’s found in Iraq were insignificant and not worthy of a war. What about all the other nations with WMD’s; why haven’t we attacked them? The judgement of God is upon America, and no conservative or liberal is going to change that truth. Like you indicated on your old website, its just a matter of time. It won’t matter whose in the White House. God does not care about labels; He wants to know what have we done with His Son!

People of God most of all need to tell the truth and to be told the truth.
You say Conservatives are no more moral than Liberals. That obviously is not the case check out the votes on the moral issues of our time and you will see a direct correlation. If that does not convince you look at the moral difference between what is going on in the liberal states like California versus conservative states like Oklahoma.
People become political liberals for a reason. They think man will basically do what is right and good and they rely on man to solve all the problems. They generally have put God out of the equation and if they acknowledge Him at all they give him no power. In contrast The Bible teaches that the natural man is evil and that he will never solve the problems of the world on his own. He needs a Savior. We must primarily rely on God not just on the goodwill of man.
Your arguments against what you say is a conservative government do not have merit. You say we now have a republican president, and a conservative supreme court. The Supreme Court is not conservative it is made up of 4 conservatives, 4 liberals and one Chief Justice who goes either way according to his feelings. The President and the Supreme Court do not make law it is the liberal Congress that is enacting laws. Besides, most of the anti value issues were passed when the Supreme Court was liberal and while there was a liberal president in the white house.
If you did not have a conservative president there would already be national hate speech laws passed against speaking against the homosexual agenda. If you vote in Obama you will certainly see them, so we had better truthfully label our politicians. Also be aware that it is the liberal states that are now enacting pro homosexual laws not the federal government.
Yeah, I am angry, I am angry at those who call themselves Christians but don’t even make the effort to understand political issues that will take away the rights of Bible believing Christians in this nation.
You say the WMD were not worthy of a war. It is easy to be a hindsight quarterback. That was not the decision our country made and it was a bipartisan decision. Were you against the war prior to the war? Few were! Most of the country was all for this war. Check the pre-war polls.
It is true that the judgment of God is on America but that does not mean that Christians should do nothing. The ones that are standing for morality in this nation are the Christian Conservatives. If we do nothing I assure you that things will get worse much faster in this nation and we will soon be under persecution. Evil arises on the earth when good men do nothing.
