If that were the case, then our own Declaration of Independence is nothing more than an example of rebellion against the lawful authority of the British Crown. The writers of the DOI specifically addressed that issue and appealed to the highest authority of all: God.

It is my understanding (and this might be conspiratorial hogwash, but it might not) that our government has sent representatives to church leaders “urging” them to remind their flocks about Romans 13 when the government starts doing draconian things in the unspecified future. I guess if people will not vote against the more evil party they will get what they deserve. It is not like the difference is not apparent. Again I want everyone to understand that if McCain gets in there are checks and balances from the other party. If Obama gets in he will have free reign because the democrats will control both houses of Congress and the Supreme Court within a year or two. That is when you will see open attacks on Christianity.

Ask Chuck Baldwin if Romans 13 means what you claim. I believe he wrote a long article refuting the normal interpretation. You might even be able to find it on this blog under his name. So God gave Germany Hitler, Russia Stalin, and China Mao to bear the sword for their good? And where does that leave Christians that were killed by them? I am not so sure that statement applies to wicked rulers.

Okay. You have to consider it is the world that hates Christians (John 15:18) not just the “far left government”. It’s not just politicians that are godless. Those w/out Christ are Godless– which at one time we all were (Ephesians 2:1-2).

The government and religion have been good buddies for a long, long time (think Constantine). I’m not saying that is “bad”, I’m not saying this is “good.” Just stating a fact. As Americans, and as Christians, it’s hard for our minds to imagine a country where our freedom to worship is anything BUT taken for granted. If fellowshiping with others and even owning a Bible in this country became an “illegal” thing– wow, can you imagine how many “christians” would drop out?? And how genuine believers would really be seen as genuine while they stood up for Jesus even in the face of persecution??

I appreciate this country. I enjoy being able to easily get my family in the car and drive to fellowship on Sunday. I love being able to open my Bible and read it w/out the fear of someone coming along and murdering me for it. I take it my freedoms for granted constantly. I don’t want it all to come crashing down. I pray that is doesn’t. But…

We have to remember Romans 13!! God already knows who will win this election, even though he has given individuals and nations free will, this old world is still working under His sovereignty. As Christians, we can pray, we can study His Word and make sure that we stand against anything/anyone that comprimises our belief, we can stand against sin, we can be preparred, we can vote, and we can pray some more. Ultimately, God knows what is best and, He will glorify Himself.

That’s why I don’t feel my 3rd party vote is voting for a greater evil. If you want to put things that way, unless any candidate comes out and starts correctly quoting Scripture in the correct context and claiming that they love Jesus (not just that they are “christian” or pray to “god”), and talking about their faith in Jesus and showing the fruit of the Holy Spirit and really, really using their position to proclaim the Gospel, we are ALL voting for “evils”. Jesus Christ is THE Savior of the world/nation/person and NOBODY else. Guess I should write in His name.

We already know we have a horrible choice for President but the greater evil is letting one party control all three branches of our government and the media when we know they stand against everything that we stand for. That is the reality of the situation and that is what Christians are not getting into there head. If Obama gets elected there will be no stopping any of their godless agenda from passing including anti-christian hate speech laws.

The problem with voting for a third party candidate is that we really have a two party system until someone changes this system through a strong grass roots movement. That cannot be done this election cycle. So any vote other than for McCain will in effect be a vote for a much greater evil. That evil is total control by a Far Left Government who hate bible believing Christians.

In my mind, this is how it plays out. If this nation turns socialist or totalitarian as it seems to be doing regardless of who gets elected (the economic “bailout” will be passed and Paulson will have unbridled power; money = power). Eventually, I will not have a choice to stay at home with my children– I will be forced to work and my children will be forcefully indoctrinated with garbage. All the more reason for me to lay a Biblical foundation for them now.

My ultimate point is that there are 3rd party tickets out there. It’s unfortunate that people really do feel that they have to vote for “the lesser of two evils.” I cannot count how many times I have heard that over the past two months, it really does sadden me. By the way: I’m a Libertarian: Power to the individual states (you have a choice which state you live in, no?); our military is to defend America from within her borders, not to police the world (my husband is in the military, and I’ve always felt this way– 3 deployments have just reinforced this); total overhaul of the tax system; cut the government spending and foreign aid; the list goes on and on.

I know that many big ticket supporters get agitated at the likes of my 3rd party voting. But, as your sister in Christ, please know that I am praying about my vote, and I am using the brain that God gave me to research about the candidates and their platforms (or lack thereof). Eventually, when the time comes, God will give me the wisdom to cast the vote that He wants me to cast. I am sure you feel the same exact way, it just might be for a different candidate (again, liberty in Christ is awesome!! and the fact that we may have nothing in common but faith in Jesus, the Gospel, and validity of Scripture and still be united is awesome!!).

Of course, I am very much aware that being a true disciple of Jesus means persecution, and that many tragic, unsettling things must happen in this world before Jesus comes to claim His Church and all that is rightfully His to begin with. That’s just one of God’s truths that keeps me from panic. I thank Him everyday that He left us not with doom, but with undeniable hope.

Also if society wants women to work outside the home it seems only right that society would also allow women to rise to the top in their chosen professions. Your saying Christian women should not even be in the position to rise to the top over men but in our society they obviously are and do. So do we now rectify one evil with two other evils? Those evils being not allowing working Christian women to succeed in their chosen profession and allowing a known greater evil to gain political power over our own society.
