That is, my bet is that they know this won't work but they think they can surf the tsunami to safety while the rest of us (who are by definition worth less then they) drown in the inevitable catastrophe. I think Peggy Noonan (herself, one of the elites) perceives this correctly in her essay: A Separate Peace http://www.opinionjournal.com/columnists/pnoonan/?id=110007460 Her thesis is the the elites know we are going to "hell in a hand-basket" and there is nothing to be done about it except to "get yours" and hunker-down to enjoy it -- to hell with everyone else. On the other hand, there are the idealistic elits that actually think (in the New Age sense) that we are about ready to take the next step (quantum-leap) in evolution. They are the New Agers who are pushing for the <i>New World Order</i> (which they intend to dictate). They already believe the undesirables (notably bible-believing Christians) will not "make" this jump. Theirs is a headlong rush to supposed utopia through global government and global religious world view. (However, the "jump's" on them, we Christians will be the ones transported to a higher plane of existence.)
