Oregon wants terminal people to take suicide pill rather than treat them.

No Gravatar

We said it would come to this when Oregon went down this path of physician-assisted suicide and of course the demented Liberals always prove us right. I am sure it will go nationwide when they bring in national socialized medicine

Oregon says cheaper to die than treat (OneNewsNow.com)

Thus far Oregon is the only state to legalize physician-assisted suicide, which is loosely regulated. But respect for life may be facing another threat there.

Oregonian Barbara Wagner is dying of lung Cancer. Oregon’s Health Services Commission has said it will not pay for more treatment, but will provide $50 in lethal drugs so she can kill herself.

Stevens believes that is a conflict of interest for the state because it controls the medical funds. “End-of-life chemotherapy can cost thousands of dollars a month, and bureaucrats — in an attempt to save money — are telling patients [they] can’t provide money for … chemotherapy, but here take these pills and they will comfort you [and] end your stress.”

Slime balls in your mouth

No Gravatar

Crooked greedy Dentists are a much worse problem then suggested in this article. Those that are bilking Medicaid are also bilking cash paying and insurance paying customers. When you go in for a cleaning they tell you need fillings. Often you do not. When you go in for a filling they tell you need a root canal and a crown. Often you do not. Who checks the honesty of their diagnoses? Until we get proper dental oversight I suggest that everyone get a second opinion before you let anyone do work on your teeth. You would not believe how many slime balls are in your mouth.

Dentists who prey on children

I don’t know about you, but just mentioning the word dentist makes my stomach churn. The sound of a dentist’s drill sends shivers down my spine. One of the most frightening lines in the English language is: “You need a root canal.”

As if we needed another reason to hate dentists, did you know that some dentists intentionally perform unnecessary dental work just to be able to bilk the government?

It gets worse. These same dentists have removed good teeth of poor children just to increase billings to Medicaid. I wish I could tell you this was the plot of a horror film, but this grotesque form of fraud is happening in real life.

General national insanity

No Gravatar

Democrats represent the majority of Americans so what does that say about national sanity? It is obvious to me that the leadership of neither party have sane answers on many issues but who elects them?

The Democrats are insane

The popular definition of insanity is making the same mistake over and over again expecting a different result.

By this definition, the Democratic Party leadership is insane.

Three examples:

High gas prices: The Democrats’ answer? A back-to-the-glorious-70s Jimmy Carter freeze in the dark replay with a global warming twist.

Health insurance availability and cost: The Democrats’ answer? A back-to-the-90s Hillary Clinton government seizure of the whole health care system.

War in Iraq: The Democrats’ plan? Declare defeat on the brink of success to relive the glory days of Vietnam.

Read on and weep for the great Democratic Party

Schools give no education about the health dangers of homosexual activity

No Gravatar

You would think in a educational system they would be warning children about the health dangers of homosexual activity. But this is not a educational system it is more an indoctrination system. There should be a warning label required on every condom they hand out. “Homosexual behavior is known to shorten lifespans”.

Day of Silence’ vs. homosexual health risks (OneNewsNow.com)

LaBarbera also argues that many liberal school districts teach false facts about AIDS. He says they imply that everyone is at equal risk for contracting the disease — even though in 2005 71 percent of U.S. male AIDS cases involved homosexuals. He contends that many American young people are not being informed about other health risks associated with homosexuality either — such as increased infections of the Hepatitis B or C virus and the herpes virus. “We have all this evidence out there that homosexual behavior is dangerous,” the activist point out, “and yet our politically correct elites are promoting gay identity” to teens and children.

Although LaBarbera notes there have been numerous taxpayer-funded studies on the dangers of smoking,

Study on echinacea’s ability to prevent colds proves nothing worth publishing.

No Gravatar

They call this a news worthy study of echinacea and colds? 58 people over 8 weeks! Give me a break!

Lets see, I would think that over 8 weeks about 20 of the 58 people would normally be expected to get a cold. Then of the 29 who took the echinacea (ten of these might get a cold in this period ) had 5 fewer sick days than the other 29 that took a placebo? Seems to me that your study supports that those who took echinacea had five fewer sick days and thus probably had fewer colds.

If you are going to publish studies on echinacea publish a study that actually proves something. A study needs to be done on hundreds or thousands of people over a whole season in the way that people are directed to take echinacea. You are not supposed to take echinacea everyday for colds. You only take it when you are exposed to colds or when you are already coming down with a cold to lessen the duration. We already have studies that prove if you take echinacea every day it becomes less effective and might even be worse then taking nothing at all. However, if you take it as directed studies prove it will help prevent colds and lessen the duration of colds.

So what was the name of the drug manufacturer that sponsored the farce?

FOXNews.com - Study Finds No Evidence Echinacea Prevents Colds - Health News | Current Health News | Medical News

Researchers at the University of California San Francisco followed 58 volunteers for eight weeks and found no definitive evidence that echinacea prevented nasal congestion, sore throats and other cold symptoms.

While the echinacea group reported fewer sick days than the placebo group, nine versus 14, researchers chalked the difference up to chance.

Sex change agents from hell

No Gravatar

First the schools brainwash children and confuse them about their sex identity and then we have these sex change agents from hell in the medical community that drug children so that they can be made into freaks for life. What a wonderful society the liberal social engineers are creating. Our demented society sexually abuses children everyday and then we wonder why many grow up to be sex abusers. Young children should not decide if they are transgendered and the medical community should not be facilitating this. This is nuts!  All who have a part in this demented program receive my Demented Delusional or Dumb Club of the week award.

Children’s hospital launches sex change for kids program

“Dr. Norman Spack runs a clinic for young children who’ve ‘decided’ they are transgendered. Among other things, the clinic administers powerful hormones to delay (or even stop) puberty in order that the children more easily undergo operations that mutilate their bodies to ‘change’ them to the opposite sex.”

“This is going on at the world-renowned Children’s Hospital in Boston – not some backwater clinic. This is the elite of the medical profession,” the organization said.

The Medical Insurance Mafia adds a third to medical costs.

No Gravatar

Your 100 percent correct. I wrote that insurance was the main problem with medical costs two years ago in this article. Medical costs could be reduced at least a third if you got rid of the insurance Mafia.

The Health Insurance Mafia - WSJ.com

Physicians and other providers need to liberate themselves from the Faustian bargain they’ve cut with the Mephistophelian suits who now run their professional lives. Because many doctors are loath to talk about money, they allowed themselves to perpetuate the fantasy that “insurance is paying.” It isn’t. There is no free lunch and no free physical exam.

If substantial numbers of health-care providers shook off the insurance monkey on their back, en masse, and the supply of providers was substantially increased by opening more medical schools, the result would be a more honest, cost-effective system benefiting everyone. Except the insurance companies.

Government benefit bills are now coming due

No Gravatar

There is no painless solution to this crises since there are over 50 trillion dollars of unfunded liabilities coming due. The only significant thing that can be done about this is to reduce future benefits. If they just raised taxes to pay the costs it would further depress the economy and it would make the shortfall worse. Unless something is done really soon paying out these unfunded liabilities are going to rapidly add to our national debt. That means more erosion of our standard of living through stagflation.

Here is what I expect from the next government if the economy recovers:
- The full retirement age will be raised to 70
- Social Security and Medicare taxes will be increased
- Continued understating of inflation and CPI adjustments for benefit increases.
- Denial of some medical treatments.
- Means testing to receive full benefits
- Passing some costs on to the future.
If the economy collapses the government will default and just pay for the tents and soup lines.

Government Benefit Programs in Trouble

The first year that payments will exceed income for Social Security will occur in 2017, just nine years from now, reflecting growing demands from the retirement of 78 million baby boomers. Medicare is projected to pay out more than it receives in income starting this year.”The financial difficulties facing Social Security and Medicare pose enormous challenges,” the trustees said in their report. “The sooner these challenges are addressed, the more varied and less disruptive their solutions can be.”

Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson, one of the trustees, warned that the country was facing a fiscal train wreck unless something is done.

“Without change, rising costs will drive government spending to unprecedented levels, consume nearly all projected federal revenues and threaten America’s future prosperity,” Paulson said in releasing the new report. “Our nation needs a bipartisan effort to strengthen both programs for future retirees.”

The answer to health care in America is not socialized medicine

No Gravatar

Actually health care will soon be one fifth of our gross domestic product. The solution is going back to a system like we had before insurance companies and all the various government medical programs added their bureaucratic costs. With one difference. We will need a sliding scale payment system for the really poor and we will need catastrophic medical coverage for everyone. I wrote an article over a year ago on how this can be done. It will be at least one third less costly than the expensive inadequate system that we have now.

Time for the truth about health care

If America is not careful, it could soon see one-seventh of its gross domestic product nationalized – the biggest step toward socialism this country has ever taken.

That’s what will happen if Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton is elected president and the Democrats control the Congress. (Heck, it might even happen if John McCain is elected.)

What’s missing from the political debate about health care are ideas
about how to bring down the cost – to make it more affordable. The
answer is not nationalizing the industry. The answer is not doing more of the same. The answer is not 100 percent third-party payments. The answer is not less accountability to the patients.

But that’s what both Hillary and Obama and most of the Democrats in Congress believe is the answer.

Too many Americans agree with them – because they are just not smart enough to see through the smokescreen.

A Conservative Case for Universal Health Coverage

No Gravatar

American Thinker: A Conservative Case for Universal Health Coverage: “I am a small-government conservative/libertarian and have hated the concept of socialized medicine almost all my life. But now, I could live with universal health coverage in the U.S.. Here’s why. “

Nice article and true although not Republican. Private medical insurance for those not qualifying for the socialized part of our system is not the answer. We are paying for socialized medicine for the poor and we are also paying for the government layer and the insurance layer that just adds to the cost of health care. Those getting ripped off are people who pay out of their own pocket or that have private health insurance. Those with health insurance are hit with premiums, co-payments and deductibles and those without health insurance who pay out of their own pocket pay much more per medical procedure then do others. The only people who make out are the people on the socialized side of our system.

I once wrote about a solution to our medical disgrace.

We need to either go all socialized or everyone needs to pay their own medical costs like they did in the old days and only have some form of catastrophic coverage for all. The way it is now just adds a third to the cost of medicine because of the extra staff and overhead that is needed to comply and pay for governmental and insurance company requirements. We have the worst of two systems. It costs one third more than any other system in the world, and it still is not universal coverage because some people fall through the cracks.

Furthermore, why should employers pay for the medical costs of their employees anyway? Why did employers because responsible for the health care of people working for them? There simply is no sane reason for this to have happened and it makes our businesses far less competitive in the world. The employers could pay their people more money if they did not have this overhead. If employers are paying for the bulk of medical care you already have a socialized medicine system put on the back of employers.

Laws to Put Out Cigarettes and to start socialized medicine from the back door

No Gravatar

My Way News - Congress Aims to Put Out CigarettesWASHINGTON (AP) - Congress is taking new whacks at the cigarette industry, banning tobacco sales in Senate buildings and - more importantly - seeking a significant federal tax increase on cigarettes. The industry, once a lobbying behemoth, is quietly working against the tax bill. But it lacks the clout it once wielded. Several key lawmakers said they have had no recent contacts with tobacco lobbyists. And both houses have signaled a willingness to raise the cigarette tax if other provisions of a children’s health bill can be resolved. “I think the industry has tried to do things more quietly, largely because they obviously know how popular a tobacco tax is,” said Ron Pollack, executive director of Families USA. The health advocacy group supports a proposed $35 billion increase in the State Children’s Health Insurance Program, which a higher cigarette tax would finance. House and Senate negotiators are trying to craft a veto-proof version of the bill. President Bush says he would veto it because it calls for a 61 cents-per-pack increase in the federal excise tax on cigarettes, taking it to $1.

I don’t smoke cigarettes but I know this is not right. Federal taxes, state taxes, local taxes and lawsuits will push cigarettes to over $5 a pack. What right does government have to fund programs which have nothing to do with smoking on the backs of cigarette smokers? They are doing it because they can get away with it. Next, they will start ratcheting up taxes on CO2 or something else to pay for their socialized programs.

What will be the result of $4 a pack Federal and local cigarette taxes? People will just find more and more ways to get around the taxes through illegal activity making more criminal activity and abetting organized crime. Most poor people who are addicted to tobacco will chose cigarettes over things they really need for themselves or their family every time. So these tax laws are actually impacting the children of smokers by taking one to two hundred dollars each month from the family income. Money that they might use for food clothes and medical care.

In one way or another people who are addicted to tobacco are going to get their tobacco fix even if they have to grow it themselves. If the high taxes on cigarettes actually succeeded in reducing the number of smokers the government would not be able to fully fund these programs and they would continually have to raise taxes until they priced tobacco out of the legal market. After that the taxpayers would have to pick up the cost of the socialized programs that the tobacco taxes funded. In other words this is really a back door attempt to bring in a government socialized medicine plan by incrementation.

We don’t need a nanny state that robs from people to pay for socialized programs and that creates more criminal activity. We already have the highest incarceration rate in the world mainly due to jailing people who traffic substances that other citizens use. Taxpayers pick up the bill for all that. We don’t need to find ways to create more criminals. If government really must tax things that have negative consequences on society they might start with taxing porn, abortion and the people who pass these destructive laws.

‘Maine’s ‘Sex School’ Taken to Court?’ - J. Grant Swank Jr. - Oct 20, 07

‘Maine’s ‘Sex School’ Taken to Court?’ - J. Grant Swank Jr. - Oct 20, 07: ““In light of the King Middle School’s recent admission that pre-teen schoolgirls were sexually active, the Christian Civic League of Maine announced today it will ask the State of Maine Office of the Attorney General to review the matter for an investigation into criminal activity. “According to Maine law, sexual relations between adolescents is permissible, as long as both are aged fourteen or over, and the age difference is no more than 5 years.”

So let me get this straight. It is against the law for those under 14 to have sexual relations in Maine but this school is giving out condoms and birth control pills to pre-teens to make it possible for them to break the law? Seems to me the middle-school committee and all who follow their policy are breaking the state law by not turning in the teens that they say they know are having sex. By aiding them and protecting them from discovery they are an accessory to their crimes.

How do You Make Americans Sign up For Universal Health Insurance?

No Gravatar

How do You Make Americans Sign up For Universal Health Insurance? - HUMAN EVENTS: “How will the government find out if everyone is covered by health insurance? Will it somehow make everyone report his policy and group number? Clinton promises that her plan won’t require any new bureaucracy; so, who will handle the record keeping for the government — the IRS? You thought that the IRS was intrusive now? Wait until they go after your medical and insurance records.

Assuming that the government does determine the insurance status of every American, if it finds someone who hasn’t signed up, will the government sign up for him? Here, the government would say, this is your insurance coverage. Now pay up. Would the uninsured be punished, and if how so? Will they be taken to court (or more likely, an administrative law judge in the bowels of some agency) and be required prove that they have enough individual resources to be self-insured? Or, what if he simply chooses not to be covered? If convicted, will he be assessed a large fine or be dragged off to jail. These questions are not addressed in Clinton’s summary of her plan displayed on her web site.”

Our Crazy Health-Insurance System

No Gravatar

RealClearPolitics - Articles - Our Crazy Health-Insurance System: “Almost daily, we’re bombarded with apocalyptic warnings about the 47 million Americans who have no health insurance. Sen. Hillary Clinton wants to require everyone to have it, big companies to pay for it and government to buy it for the poor. That is a move in the wrong direction. America’s health-care problem is not that some people lack insurance — it’s that 250 million Americans do have it.”

That is true, insurance drives up the cost significantly. I wrote about how health care costs could be reduced by one third. Just eliminating all the unnecessary overhead is most of it.

The Dark Side of Hillary Clinton’s Health Care Plan

FOXNews.com - The Dark Side of Hillary Clinton’s Health Care Plan - Blogs: “The public face of Hillary Clinton’s new health care plan is sunny, filled with choices for consumers and bright with promises for better health care for all. But a close examination of the proposal alongside other initiatives of Sen. Clinton in the past few years reveals a dark side she wants to hide from public view until after the election is over.”

With that title are you implying that Hillary really is Darth Vader of the Dark Side and not the Vice President as she claimed? I guess Dick Morris has inside knowledge since He worked with the Clinton’s.

Hillary’s health plan is socialistic and oppressive. Since she says it is 100 percent her plan what does that say about her?

Patients without Doctors: The Flawed Plan of Governor Schwarzenegger

No Gravatar

American Thinker: Patients without Doctors: The Flawed Plan of Governor Schwarzenegger: “California physician participation in Medi-Cal is the lowest of any State-sponsored program in the United States. Medi-Cal payments to California physicians rank 49th in the country. The rates are based on 1969 data, with only a single increase in 20 years. Because Medi-Cal reimbursement is often less than the cost of keeping a doctor’s office open during the visit (e.g., $24 for a consultation with a Breast Cancer Surgeon, $253 for a two-hour breast-preserving cancer operation and 90 days of care that follows), accepting Medi-Cal destroys the viability of California medical practices. In order to keep their doors open, the vast majority of California doctors must refuse or severely limit the number of Medi-Cal patients they accept. Under the current system, nearly 60% of patients in the Medi-Cal program report significant difficulty finding a doctor. Wait times are long, particularly for specialists and mental health professionals.”

There is no free lunch. If they pay less than what is required for medical offices to make a profit they cannot and will not not keep subsidizing these people. If you force them to treat people below their costs they will go out of business or hire less trained nurse practitioners and the doctors will go elsewhere. You will then have patients without real doctors and substandard medical care. The moral of the story is that a steroid popping body builder is not likely to come up with any safe and sound solition to medical care.

Is there a trial lawyer in the house? Ann Coulter

No Gravatar

WorldNetDaily: Is there a trial lawyer in the house?: “In college, my roommate was in the chemistry lab Friday and Saturday nights while I was dancing on tables at the Chapter House. A few years later, she was working 20-hour days as a resident at Mount Sinai doing liver transplants while I was frequenting popular Upper East Side drinking establishments. She was going to Johns Hopkins for yet more medical training while I was skiing and following the Grateful Dead. Now she vacations in places like Rwanda and Darfur with Doctors Without Borders while I’m going to Paris.

Has anyone else noticed the nonexistence of a charitable organization known as ‘Lawyers Without Borders’?

She makes $380 for an emergency appendectomy, or one-ten-thousandth of what John Edwards made suing doctors like her, and one-fourth of what John Edwards’ hairdresser makes for a single shag cut. Edwards made $30 million bringing nonsense lawsuits based on junk science against doctors. To defend themselves from parasites like Edwards, doctors now pay hundreds of thousands of dollars in medical malpractice insurance every year. “

Nice work Ann. You compared doctors and lawyers quite aptly in the article. People do not realize that the average Doctor of Philosophy in the Government makes as much as a Family Practice Doctor. The Family practice doctor had to work at least 3 more years for slave wages as an intern and resident. Government bureaucrats do little additional training, while a Family Practice Doctor has to do continuing medical education each year often on their own time and money. As you indicated, many doctors do charity work as well, on their own dime. When was the last time you seen a Government bureaucrat taking two weeks unpaid leave and pay for a trip themselves to go help people with their skills in another nation? Most physicians are generally underpaid in this country for the educations they have, the hours they work and the responsibility they have.

Looking at HillaryCare

No Gravatar

Looking at HillaryCare - HUMAN EVENTS: “He points to two problems( in addition to the philosophical objection that government should not force citizens on penalty of fine to carry insurance). First, he notes that in practice it has not worked well. In Massachusetts for example 20% of individuals were immediately exempted from the coverage requirements and despite threats of fines fewer people than expected are signing up, opting instead to pay the fines. Second, you need “ a huge bureaucracy” to track every citizen, determine whether they have coverage and whether their plan meets the government’s minimum requirements, and then “punish them” if they don’t have a government approved healthcare plan.”

Does anyone really want Big Sister forcing you to get health insurance like it was auto insurance? That is exactly what Hillary herself uses as an example. Each year you will have to prove to the government that you are insured or else! You might even lose your citizen privileges like a felon.

Be Healthy or Else!

No Gravatar

Be Healthy or Else! - The Ayn Rand Institute - Sep 11, 07: “a Tory panel in Britain suggested that, in order to control the spiraling costs of its socialized health-care system, Britons should be forced to adopt a government-prescribed ‘healthy lifestyle’ or else be denied certain medical treatments. Britons who improve their health by, for example, quitting smoking or losing weight would receive ‘Health Miles’ that could be used to purchase vegetables or pay for gym memberships. ‘These proposals are the reductio ad absurdum of nanny-state paternalism,’ said Dr. Yaron Brook, executive director of the Ayn Rand Institute. ‘According to these politicians, instead of having a government that protects our right to live our own lives, we are to be treated like incompetent children who need someone to force us to visit the doctor and eat our veggies.”

If the Brits allow Nanny to monitor their every function they obviously are not mature adults.

You’re In Bad Hands With Nanny State

No Gravatar

You’re In Bad Hands With Nanny State - Guest - Sep 08, 07: “Thomas Jefferson wrote in his autobiography that, ‘Were we directed from Washington when to sow and when to reap, we should soon want bread.’ And boy was he ever right on that. Because since the time he wrote those words we have seen what happens when governments dictate to the people how to ’sow’ and when to ‘reap’. What’s that? You want a list? Ok, how about any number of the currently floundering European style socialist states, Cuba, North Korea, Iran and the former Soviet Union for starters.

But despite all these examples, today talk of expanding government here in American into realms reserved by the people as their own to control dominates society. Whether it is whispers of socialized healthcare where citizens will be required to regiment their doctors visits based on what a lonely bureaucrat in Washington decides or questions about what the government will do to bail out people with poor credit, shoddy finances and living beyond their means after they take out loans they could not afford to pay back, there is a continuing push to expand the umbrella of the Nanny State over each and everyone of us. Yes, that push is to encompass even those of us that are able to function in a civilized society and interact with other people independent of this control. Because without us in that latter category being onboard, those that would benefit from such policies would not be able to have them.

We’re the producers. We’re the ones from which the money to fund such failed ideas flows. We are the new slave class.”

John Edwards’ Universal Health Care Plan Would Make Regular Checkups Mandatory

FOXNews.com - John Edwards’ Universal Health Care Plan Would Make Regular Checkups Mandatory - Politics Republican Party Democratic Party Political Spectrum: “TIPTON, Iowa - — Democratic presidential hopeful John Edwards said on Sunday that his universal health care proposal would require that Americans go to the doctor for preventive care.”

Under John Edward’s health care plan government would force everyone to go to doctors for preventive care. I guess if you do not go they will arrest you and if you do not take your kids you will be labeled a child abuser. When they diagnose your kid with one of there endless mental disorders they will force you to give them drugs.

Do you really want government running your life and the life of your children? Will preventive care for everyone add to the cost of medical care or decrease it? It certainly will add to the costs if you require young healthy people to see doctors and pill pushers. John Edwards is wacky and dangerous.

Comptroller general warns of the fall of the US

No Gravatar

FT.com / World - Learn from the fall of Rome, US warned
David Walker, comptroller general of the US, issued the unusually downbeat assessment of his country’s future in a report that lays out what he called “chilling long-term simulations”.
These include “dramatic” tax rises, slashed government services and the large-scale dumping by foreign governments of holdings of US debt.

“With the looming retirement of baby boomers, spiralling healthcare costs, plummeting savings rates and increasing reliance on foreign lenders, we face unprecedented fiscal risks,” said Mr Walker, a former senior executive at PwC auditing firm.
Current US policy on education, energy, the environment, immigration and Iraq also was on an “unsustainable path”.
“Our very prosperity is placing greater demands on our physical infrastructure. Billions of dollars will be needed to modernise everything from highways and airports to water and sewage systems. The recent bridge collapse in Minneapolis was a sobering wake-up call.”
Mr Walker said he would offer to brief the would-be presidential candidates next spring.

Walker has told this to everyone in high government so it is not like they do not know about the grave financial situation but very few give a damn.
