Far from advocating any sort of theocracy, Norris asserts that the very Constitution we now adhere to functions best when the moral foundations of our republic are championed. In defense of that position, he quotes Thomas Paine, who said, “Spiritual freedom is the root of political freedom…As the union between spiritual freedom and political liberty seems nearly inseparable, it is our duty to defend both.” John Adams added, “Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to to the government of any other.” Norris also cites George Washington, who argued against the notion that a nation can remain moral “in exclusion of religious principle”.

He also fights back against the argument that Thomas Jefferson argued for the “separation of church and state,” by using the very letter of Jefferson’s to the Danbury Baptists that contains that phrase. In context, Norris observes that Jefferson’s point was not to slam the door on religious expression “but to prohibit the domination and even legislation of religious sectarianism.” He also adds that Jefferson attended church services at the U.S. Capitol just two days after writing the letter — hardly a sign he wanted no intermingling of government and religion. In another nice touch, Norris prints the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution and the Ten Commandments at the end of the book, just to remind readers what each of them contains.

Norris quotes The Founders not only with respect to the key social issues of the day but also with respect to our nation’s mounting debt. He blasts the government for its wasteful ways, pointing out that the cost of minting pennies and nickels exceeds the values of those coins. The IRS is also a major target of his when it comes to the nation’s taxes. Norris says our Founders would be “horrified” to see the bloated bureaucracies and heavy tax burdens — which were, after all, one of the major reasons for the revolution. He pounds home the point with the words of Patrick Henry, who asserted that unless properly restricted, tax collectors will “go into your cellars and rooms and search, ransack, and measure, everything you eat, drink, and wear.”

Some well informed conservatives in the United States are sounding the alarm about plans to tax Americans for carbon emissions purported to cause what’s been dubbed, “Global Warming.” Adding to their fears of oppressive global climate taxation is a recent event in Canada. Read GPF on global taxes.

On July 1, citizens of Canada’s British Columbia began paying a so-called carbon tax for reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The provincial government is levying the tax on most fossil fuels, including gasoline and home heating fuel. British Columbia hopes the new policy will cause people to drive less and conserve more energy, thus leading to a significant cut in greenhouse gas emissions that allegedly contribute to climate change.

In addition, according to Mike Baker, a political strategist who has studied the new Canadian tax law, citizens will be expected to pay taxes for wood stove and fireplace emissions, farm equipment, trucks, automobiles and anything else that utilizes fossil fuel. He predicts there will come a time in the not to distant future when even water and clean air consumption by individuals will be taxed.

“New ‘Gobal Warming’ cops will be hired to drive around the county looking for smoke coming out of peoples chimneys and write hefty tickets to those that refuse to comply. A goldmine of new found money coming to city and county cofers,” added Baker.

“If replicated in the United States — as Al Gore and others want — this will be one of the biggest power grabs in US history.

“It’s all about who will control the earth resources. It’s big government laying claim to the waters, oceans, lakes, forests, birds, animals, earth’s land surface, the air we breathe, the food we eat and the sky and space, as well as you and me!” said Joan Veon, CEO of the Women’s International Media Group and a recognized expert in politically-motivated scientific research. Claims that recent severe weather and flooding in the US are proof of human CO2 impacts on global climate are scientific nonsense. They are part of a pattern of keeping weather and climate issues in the public mind.

There are three major problems with what is being said. 1. The severe weather of this spring across the Northern Hemisphere was caused by cooler weather not warmer. 2. The IPCC and the NOAA positions that severe weather will increase with global warming is scientifically wrong. 3. The records show current weather extremes are well within long term natural variability.

This trend of severe weather is most likely to increase as the Earth continues to cool. Proponents of human caused climate change will claim it proves them right. They will continue their practice of claiming natural events as unnatural. Thank God their are still a few people in the world that can think critically. Again, if the high priests of global warming could actually make an impact on the weather through their draconian plans to steal our freedom and our prosperity, their goal of lowering temperatures would be, at best, a net plus for some and a net negative for others. It would almost certainly result in less food production, for example. We had a minor heat spell in the East recently it did not last long. The projection for next week in the Northeast is unseasonably cold. Nothing is produced without the use of energy. Fossil fuels provide nearly 80 percent of all energy in the U.S. and virtually all energy used in transportation. Should government gain control over private use of energy, government would most certainly control a most important source of production.

Consider what the sources of production are: raw materials, or natural resources; the energy required to convert raw material to product; and the initiative to do it. Through a whole range of land use control laws and regulations, government effectively controls the use of land and the raw materials it contains. Pending legislation, if enacted, will give government control over every drop of water in the nation – essential to all production. John McCain’s cap-and-trade proposal would give government absolute control over energy use.

What then would distinguish the U.S. from any other socialist nation?

It would not be the Congress. Congress has allowed, and often even assisted, the executive branch in the usurpation of its policymaking function. Congress is rapidly becoming little more than a rubber stamp for policies designed, implemented and enforced by the executive branch of government. Again, what distinguishes the U.S. from other socialist nations?

It certainly is not individual freedom. The freedom Americans once had to own property and control the use of it, to dig a well, to irrigate crops, to cut trees – now requires the permission of government, as is the case in other socialist nations

It is good to give money to help people but government social welfare programs rob working people and enslaves others to a life of dependency. Obama in his Global Poverty Act wants to transfer almost one percent of our GDP to third world governments through the U.N. Much of that money never gets to the people it just supports the Tyrants of the world and pays for their armies that keep the people enslaved. It also undermines Christian missionary efforts. Tell Congress not to support this act.

Obama’s foreign aid corrupts absolutely

Americans are increasingly enamored of the failed idea of forcing the working class to give to the poor, and not because of academe, the media or other secular institutions, but in large part because of their religious leaders, including “America’s pastor,” who actually urge Christians to support world socialism schemes like the Global Peace Plan.

These strange “Christians” despise their flocks, ignoring that Christians have been voluntarily giving of their own substance to the poor for 2,000 years, without relying on government for help to do so. And they ignore the biblical mandate to give in love, not extort gifts from helpless taxpayers.

Thus, they fly in the face of Paul’s words:

And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor… and have not charity (love), it profiteth me nothing. – I Corinthians 3:13

Beyond that, by politicizing charity and impoverishing Americans (to the tune of over $10,000 per person), the Global Poverty Act would make it more difficult for Christians to continue being the most generous people in the world. When governments try to balance their budgets on the back of mostly low and lower middle class smokers they themselves are creating the smuggling problem. When government adds several dollars to the cost of one pack of cigarettes they make it very lucrative for smugglers. So what did New York State do about the problem reported in this article. They just raised taxes $1.25 a pack this year to $2.75 to help with their budget shortfall. Every time the states or the Feds raise cigarette taxes they call it a win win situation. They say less people will smoke and they will raise more tax revenue. Obviously there is also a lose lose situation the governments do not tell you about. They are promoting crime and robbing poor people.

I do not smoke but let me tell you what I see going on. My observations are that when one in a couple smoke they both smoke. Most have a family income of less then $30,000 and some are on government assistance. They are addicted and they are not going to quit smoking because government raised the taxes. They each smoke at least a pack a day or 60 packs a month. At $5 a pack it costs them $300 a month. They do not have that much disposable income so some necessities are put off indefinitely. Often their children go without or they live in substandard housing, etc.

Liberal answers to all revenue shortfalls is more taxes especially on things that they do not like and their answer to social problems is to tax or legislate them out of existence. It has never worked and they should not then act surprised when their laws bring these additional problems.

A 15-page report congressional report, obtained by FOX News, includes intelligence from law enforcement as well as New York State’s Department of Taxation and Finance.

The report reads in part: Cigarette smuggling is generating millions of dollars every year that can be reaching terrorist groups, including Hezbollah, Hamas and Al Qaeda, according to law enforcement sources. In a single case, $100,000 was sent to Hezbollah.

“This is a very serious homeland security issue, one that has gone unnoticed for far too long,” said Rep. Peter King, (R-N.Y.), the ranking member of the House Homeland Security Committee, who called for the investigation.

“Cigarette smugglers are able to generate millions of dollars in illegal profits with a great deal of this wealth being sent to terrorist groups overseas – groups that would like nothing more than to inflict devastating harm on our country and its citizens.”

One of the key issues, according to the report, is a potential flaw in New York State policy. According to King’s office, there is a policy in the state of “forebearance,” or refusing to collect on sales of Native American tax-free cigarettes to non-Native Americans.

Critics of the policy say it has effectively created a safe haven for smugglers. In some cases, the report says, a well-organized operation can buy cigarettes tax-free on New York’s Indian reservations and sell them at a great profit in the New Yock City area,

The real numbers, to most economically minded Americans, would be a face full of cold water. Based on the criteria in place a quarter century ago, today’s U.S. unemployment rate is somewhere between 9 percent and 12 percent; the inflation rate is as high as 7 or even 10 percent; economic growth since the recession of 2001 has been mediocre, despite a huge surge in the wealth and incomes of the superrich, and we are falling back into recession. If what we have been sold in recent years has been delusional “Pollyanna Creep,” what we really need today is a picture of our economy ex-distortion. For what it would reveal is a nation in deep difficulty not just domestically but globally.

Undermeasurement of inflation, in particular, hangs over our heads like a guillotine. To acknowledge it would send interest rates climbing, and thereby would endanger the viability of the massive buildup of public and private debt (from less than $11 trillion in 1987 to $49 trillion last year) that props up the American economy. Moreover, the rising cost of pensions, benefits, borrowing, and interest payments—all indexed or related to inflation—could join with the cost of financial bailouts to overwhelm the federal budget. As inflation and interest rates have been kept artificially suppressed, the United States has been indentured to its volatile financial sector, with its predilection for leverage and risky buccaneering.

Arguably, the unraveling has already begun. As Robert Hardaway, a professor at the University of Denver, pointed out last September, the subprime lending crisis “can be directly traced back to the [1983] BLS decision to exclude the price of housing from the CPI. . .With the illusion of low inflation inducing lenders to offer 6 percent loans, not only has speculation run rampant on the expectations of ever-rising home prices, but home buyers by the millions have been tricked into buying homes even though they only qualified for the teaser rates.” Were mainstream interest rates to jump into the 7 to 9 percent range—which could happen if inflation were to spur new concern—both Washington and Wall Street would be walking in quicksand. The make-believe economy of the past two decades, with its asset bubbles, massive borrowing, and rampant data distortion, would be in serious jeopardy. The U.S. dollar, off more than 40 percent against the euro since 2002, could slip down an even rockier slope.

The credit markets are fearful, and the financial markets are nervous. If gloom continues, our humbugged nation may truly regret losing sight of history, risk, and common sense.

Think about this. Housing has already dropped 10 percent if it drops 30 percent like many think it will remove over 6 Trillion in wealth from Americans.

Local governments will be collecting far less taxes on property meaning that they will have to drastically cut services or raise everyone’s taxes.

Those who have less then 30 percent equity in their house will have to come up with money to sell it and they will have to come up with more money to pay selling costs.

All this means that there are not going to be a whole lot of people moving in the next few years, meaning that they will not be buying the house you are trying to sell either.

In addition, few will be able to get home equity loans because they will not have enough home equity. Anyone who can look at this information and not see a very deep recession in the future is a blind optimist.

Estimates range from $23 to $24 trillion. It is becoming rather clear
that when all is said and done, we may be seeing 20 to 30 percent
nationwide declines in home prices. How much more equity will this
destroy? Let us run the scenario further:

The problem of course is not necessarily with those with no
mortgage, but many who bought at peak prices with very little equity.
Those that went in with no money down, 5, 10, even 20 percent down
stand to be underwater when the market reaches its bottom.

So we are going to hear climate change lies on the TV all over the nation for at least the next three years. Where is the balanced on this? How are the scientists that oppose Al Gore’s junk science hype going to come up with money to inform the people that they are being lied to and brainwashed? Even if they could come up with the money what large news Media would play it?

I hear people say that the science that is coming out will expose Al Gore and the rest of his loons and stop this multi trillion dollar carbon tax scheme. I simply do not think it will be quite that easy. With this kind of money and control of the media these people will have the money to keep their global governance scheme going in spite of the truth. At that point stopping this lie will be no easier than stopping the lie about evolution.

It does not help that every whore in politics and in Religion has prostituted themselves to these globalists. Now this ninny says that we need to save the planet? I have news Pat, we can’t save the planet. Jesus will.

Then there is Newt and all three people running for president. Everyone of them are globalists. So what should we expect from them? They would not be in national politics if they did not have backing from the elite of the globalist CFR.

The Liberals believe that man must save the planet because the only force for change on earth in their ungodly minds come from man. God exists they say but they deny He has any identify or power other than man.

So the question then becomes what do those who are not brainwashed do about this blatant misinformation campaign? Scientific reports are not getting anywhere because the national media will not report them. Debunking Al Gore’s and the UN’s data is not getting anywhere because the media ignores it. Pretty soon this CO2 driven climate change is going to be true no matter if we can even prove that the earth is cooling. They will then just say that CO2 is causing that.

I think the people who are still not brainwashed have about one year to get the message out about this hoax or it will be too late. The only solution is to to immediately find some big money to counter these ads and we need money to fund science that debunks their huge global warming paid staff. For that to happen we need some wealthy people and foundations to start putting up money to stop them. If it does not happen in a few years you will be paying extra for everything you buy and much of that money will be going to pay for global government and the control freaks that will do nothing but make new rules for you to live by. If they just raised taxes to pay the costs it would further depress the economy and it would make the shortfall worse. Unless something is done really soon paying out these unfunded liabilities are going to rapidly add to our national debt. That means more erosion of our standard of living through stagflation.

Here is what I expect from the next government if the economy recovers:
- The full retirement age will be raised to 70
- Social Security and Medicare taxes will be increased
- Continued understating of inflation and CPI adjustments for benefit increases.
- Denial of some medical treatments.
- Means testing to receive full benefits
- Passing some costs on to the future.
If the economy collapses the government will default and just pay for the tents and soup lines.

Government Benefit Programs in Trouble

The first year that payments will exceed income for Social Security will occur in 2017, just nine years from now, reflecting growing demands from the retirement of 78 million baby boomers. Medicare is projected to pay out more than it receives in income starting this year.”The financial difficulties facing Social Security and Medicare pose enormous challenges,” the trustees said in their report. “The sooner these challenges are addressed, the more varied and less disruptive their solutions can be.”

Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson, one of the trustees, warned that the country was facing a fiscal train wreck unless something is done.

“Without change, rising costs will drive government spending to unprecedented levels, consume nearly all projected federal revenues and threaten America’s future prosperity,” Paulson said in releasing the new report. “Our nation needs a bipartisan effort to strengthen both programs for future retirees.”

The Majority who do not smoke are putting an unfair tax burden on a minority just because they can. It is like those who hate turnips taxing turnips to pay for their mental health costs. If I were a smoker and I lived in California I would consider this tax to be illegal and I would have no qualms about buying bootleg cigarettes that circumvent these illegal taxes. I think that is exactly what will happen in California. These laws will just bring in more organized crime. Then they will have to enforce the laws and imprison people and the taxpayers will have to pay for it. The poor will get their cigarettes one way or another and it might mean illegal activity or that their kids will do without. Thus the money you think you raise in taxes by passing this law will not bring in the revenue that you expect, and it will often impact the innocent.

The industry, once a lobbying behemoth, is quietly working against the tax bill. But it lacks the clout it once wielded. Several key lawmakers said they have had no recent contacts with tobacco lobbyists. And both houses have signaled a willingness to raise the cigarette tax if other provisions of a children’s health bill can be resolved. “I think the industry has tried to do things more quietly, largely because they obviously know how popular a tobacco tax is,” said Ron Pollack, executive director of Families USA. The health advocacy group supports a proposed $35 billion increase in the State Children’s Health Insurance Program, which a higher cigarette tax would finance. House and Senate negotiators are trying to craft a veto-proof version of the bill. President Bush says he would veto it because it calls for a 61 cents-per-pack increase in the federal excise tax on cigarettes, taking it to $1.

I don’t smoke cigarettes but I know this is not right. Federal taxes, state taxes, local taxes and lawsuits will push cigarettes to over $5 a pack. What right does government have to fund programs which have nothing to do with smoking on the backs of cigarette smokers? They are doing it because they can get away with it. Next, they will start ratcheting up taxes on CO2 or something else to pay for their socialized programs.

What will be the result of $4 a pack Federal and local cigarette taxes? People will just find more and more ways to get around the taxes through illegal activity making more criminal activity and abetting organized crime. Most poor people who are addicted to tobacco will chose cigarettes over things they really need for themselves or their family every time. So these tax laws are actually impacting the children of smokers by taking one to two hundred dollars each month from the family income. Money that they might use for food clothes and medical care.

In one way or another people who are addicted to tobacco are going to get their tobacco fix even if they have to grow it themselves. If the high taxes on cigarettes actually succeeded in reducing the number of smokers the government would not be able to fully fund these programs and they would continually have to raise taxes until they priced tobacco out of the legal market. After that the taxpayers would have to pick up the cost of the socialized programs that the tobacco taxes funded. In other words this is really a back door attempt to bring in a government socialized medicine plan by incrementation.

We don’t need a nanny state that robs from people to pay for socialized programs and that creates more criminal activity. We already have the highest incarceration rate in the world mainly due to jailing people who traffic substances that other citizens use. Taxpayers pick up the bill for all that. We don’t need to find ways to create more criminals. If government really must tax things that have negative consequences on society they might start with taxing porn, abortion and the people who pass these destructive laws.
