‘Is Baptist Grown Britney Spears Eternally Secure?’ - J. Grant Swank Jr. - Sep 22, 07: “Britney, though producing as worldly a persona as one could ever wish would never happen to a young girl, is still saved and on her way to heaven, according to Baptist thought. That is following the eternal security teaching to its logical conclusion. She is obviously “out of fellowship” with Jesus because of her sinful lifestyle; but if she were to die tonight, she would go into heavenly bliss.”
Your really using stupid straw-man arguments in this article. Most Baptist’s do not believe what you imply at all. First, not all Baptists believe in the “once saved always saved” doctrine. Next, Baptist’s do not believe someone is saved by believing in Baptist doctrine or by being raised in a Baptist church or even by some confession of faith. Since they cannot look into the heart, Baptist’s believe you are only saved if you were truly born again spiritually.
Does Britney give any evidence at all that she was ever born from above into a new spiritual creation?
Therefore, most Baptists would say her lifestyle displays that she was never saved. They would also say that if hypothetically she did somehow believe and receive salvation and she is living like she is, Jesus will discipline her.
If you want to make an argument against the doctrine of “once saved always saved” at least make arguments that are true. Churches have been split on this issue for centuries and you think you have the truth to present on this forum by using false arguments?
No. I do not claim once saved always saved doctrine myself, because some people like unbelievers and yourself are misled by what it is to be saved. However, there is absolutely no question that the Bible teaches that true believers are eternally saved. Yet, I am not saying that a believer cannot willfully become a unbeliever although that is highly doubtful. I will just let Jesus decide that issue. Any Christian should know if they truly believe or not and take joy in the hope of salvation.
I wrote an article on how one is saved that should enlighten people so believers can be assured of their salvation.
I just love preachers who give salvation with one sermon and can’t wait to take it away with the next. They first give hope in Christ because of what He did for us and gave us freely and then they tell people that they can only have this hope of salvation through their own self efforts
Those who think that true believers can lose their salvation must think the Lord is wishy-washy and is such a bad Father that He cannot even raise those His Father gave Him.
Christians sometimes can be their own worse enemy.
