American revival missing in action until the tribulation?

If you believed some of the revival hype that was going around back a few years ago, you might have been lead to believe that by now people in our nation would be fasting, praying and repenting so that God would heal our land. That obviously is not happening.

There were Christian rallies that were advertised as the kick off for this great American revival. The Billy Graham message, “My Hope for America” was to be the big event that would really get this revival going. Some four years later this leads me to ask, have you seen any evidence of a national revival? Let me know if you have seen any real revival taking place across our land because I see no signs of it.

Oh, I know we have Charismatics on TV saying that revival is taking place wherever they go, but it is always the same people who are getting revived in these continuous false revivals. I have heard about their revival claims for over 40 years.

Heck, if you believe the Charismatic media hucksters, they must have revived Africa ten times over by now. However, if you look at reality, most of their converts in Africa have a hybrid Christianity. They either mix Word of Faith twisted scriptures and signs and wonders presumptions or else they mix Roman Catholicism with traditional African pagan spiritualism. The same goes for Latin America nations. It is easy to claim Christian converts when confessing Christianity by many Africans and Latinos just means Christianizing old pagan practices.

It is much the same in the charismatic movement in America, except here they mix Jesus with New Age spiritualism. There are those that are always claiming to have a prophetic word from the Lord about everything, but their words and works mostly promote themselves. I have had enough experiences with these kind of Christians over the years to know the majority of them are really caught up into spiritualism and false delusions. Besides these obvious false revival claims, do we have any real evidence that the calls for American revival are actually producing revival? Are Americans beginning to repent of evil?

There seems to be more evidence to the contrary. Americans as a whole are so repentant of their own ways that they allow the destruction of the family unit to continue. Since the calls for revival were made, homosexual marriage has become the law in America. Virtually all couples now shack up together before they get married (if they ever do). Many children are not allowed to be born by their mother and almost half of the children in America are brought up by a single parent. Is that revival?

Black Americans are so repentant about black violence and lawlessness that most of the pastors will not say a word of correction from the pulpit or to the media. Many black American parents are so repentant that most still do not supervise, correct, or teach morality to their children. Is that revival?

The Latino communities of America are so repentant that they allow violent Drug Gangs to prevail. Most of the many million Latinos that illegally entered the United States show no respect for God or country but American politicians, religious leaders and progressives harbor them. I do see major growing racism. Is that the revival we should be looking for?

If Christian people are supposed to lead the revival, you might think that they might start with the Christian media. They should purge out the heretics and those endorsing destructive behavior. Christian leaders hobnobbing with the perverted and the heretics, often in the name of Christian unity or patriotism have allowed heretical fringe teachings to come into the mainstream. Now, the whole loaf is slowly being leavened with doctrines of demons and doctrines of unstable men and women. Few Christian leaders take a stand against anything. You might think that congregations full of Christians would hold their pastors accountable for their aberrant teaching and their worldly associations. However, that is not happening, I see no revival taking place even in what is called Christianity.

Repenting in blue jeans and marijuana ashes and choosing not to rock the boat going down the way of Willow Creek or the many Saddleback tributaries is not going to forestall judgment on America.

The “revival” on going in America seems to be well on its way to change a democratic republic into an atheist oligarchy if you ask me. If the Marxists prevail, more atheist judges will be appointed that will legislate from the bench and force all to recite their own pledge of allegiance.

I pledge allegiance to the flag of the Socialists States of America, and to the Socialist Democratic Atheist Party for which it stands, one nation under the potentate, with oppression and injustice for all dissenters.

The stunning Christian revival now underway in America is likely to bring about the following unless something worse happens first, and that is even more likely:

  • The Constitution will continue to be ignored or changed to reflect the collective consensus of the socialist atheists.
  • There will be a revolt by some Christians and conservatives. The best outcome is the divorce of some conservative areas, the worst outcome is a bloody civil war.
  • A police state of bureaucratic decrees mainly enforced through crony corporations and nationalized and militarized local police forces.
  • Guns will be confiscated so that there can be no resistance.
  • American military people overseas will be under international control.
  • Amnesty for criminals except for millions of political prisoners and some violent felons
  • Drugs will be legal and taxed.
  • Sex crimes will be decriminalized.
  • Forced re-education (indoctrination) camps.
  • There will be a much smaller middle class.
  • America will default on its debt and international bankers will dictate economic policy and taxes.
  • The living standard will become about equal to or less than that of Mexico.
  • Government will control everyone and everything. They will use electronic surveillance, media platforms and snitches to bring that about.
  • Mexico and Canada might build border fences to try to keep American refugees out.
  • For all practical purposes America will only have a one party system  – the political right will be outlawed as fascist haters.
  • The economic crash will force America to drastically reduce the military. America will no longer be a world leader.
  • Israel and Jews will be hated in the cities of America and Jews will find it necessary to immigrate to Israel.
  • The Med Union (now EU, North Africa, and Middle East), Russia and allies, China and India will run the new world order.
  • Christianity will only be allowed in state approved churches and the Christian message will be watered down to accommodate sin and other “paths to God”. There will be no proselytizing. Those not complying will be persecuted. A new Bible will be the only version allowed. This Bible will not contain sex sins or future prophecy. It will be called the SAV (SCOTUS Authorized Version) Bible.
  • Parents will not be allowed to teach religion, sex education, or anything that is not politically correct to their children. Violations will be seen as child abuse. Children will be encouraged to report any such abuse.
  • There will be no exempt churches or tax deductions to support anything that is religious based.
  • Home schooling will not be allowed. Preschool indoctrination attendance will be required.
  • Private property will only be by government permission and all land use will be dictated by the government.

For those still expecting some great American revival, I might ask, revival to what? Revival to the ways of our past that brought us to where we are now? Revival to give the gospel of salvation again to a world that has already rejected it? Revival so that we can have more materialism in America? Revival for revival sake, like many of our churches have each year?

What would God have to do to get Americans to repent of their sins and make Jesus Lord of their life? Love did not work. They reject the Jesus that died for them. Wars do not work. We have had wars for centuries. Storms and Earthquakes do not work. People like to blame God for them but then live like it was just some freak act of mother nature. Unbelievers will explain away most anything as a natural or man caused event. It seems that the only thing that is going to get America or most nations in the world to take notice that there is a God in Heaven who actively determines events on the earth, is something like what happened in Egypt in the days before Exodus.

In those days, God determined that He would bring out Israel by sending ten judgments on a very defiant nation. By the time Egypt was all but destroyed they could not deny that God was involved. Even so, they still chose to rebel against Him by attacking the people that He chose to deliver. Something like that will have to happen again before America and the world in general will even believe that God is actively involved in the world. Even then, many will not repent.

Come to think of it, repentance is what the tribulation is all about. The role of the two witnesses will be much like that of Moses and Aaron. The testimony of the two witnesses will not bring national repentance but their message will bring about some individual repentance. In spite of all the hype you hear about some great American revival, it probably will take tribulation judgments to produce any real repentance and revival in America.

American revival missing in action until the tribulation? — 25 Comments

  1. I have to agree with the conclusion on this one Don. No way will there be a real revival in America prior to the tribulation. I think it possible then, but only because a lot of people will know a person taken in the Rapture. They have heard enough scripture to know what happened and have been lied to by the government to not believe their story about the event. That does not imply that I think the country will in any way not suffer, in fact, I think the people who do convert will be persecuted severely.

Currently, most people will not repent or change their ways. Severe and traumatic events, such as 9/11 or the recent hurricanes certainly have not affected much. I think that President Trump, who followed the action of the Texas governor proclaiming a national day of prayer for Harvey affected people was good, but that is not national revival.

  2. Hi Phil.

I think the tribulation revival will mainly take place because of the testimony of the two witnesses and the 144,000. By the end, the gospel of the kingdom will even be presented to all through the angels. Nobody will have any excuse.

Will the devastation that just hit Puerto Rico make the people there repent? I doupt it. With the lights out for an extended period federal troops will probably be needed to keep order.

  3. Oh yea, I don’t see any revival going on either and there wont be. We would have to go into captivity first for about a generation’s time.

I came across this guy’s blog accidently and was astounded of the ideology I commented and of course it was removed. Heresy!

PS. The Bill that left a comment wasn’t me, to be clear. Mine failed.

Just jump to this article it will boil your blood Don

  4. Hi Bill,

It does not surprise me that those that believed everything was fulfilled in the past can twist and misapply prophetic scriptures. Preterists would have no theology if they could not build some kind of logical case. These people insist on play two dimensional chess on a three dimensional chess board. In other words, they cannot correlate the scriptures.

They also do not understand the different roles of Israel and the Church so they cannot properly discern the scriptures given to each. If Christians knew the synoptic gospels were not addressed to those saved in the age of grace their would be far less confusion. Primarily Paul addressed believers of this grafted in dispensation.

As for hurricanes being a sign of the end times, I would agree with him. They are not. Weather always happens and storms are a part of weather. And just because they hit someone does not mean that God was judging them for their evil.

  5. I’m not a Deist but do sometimes wonder what God is doing. For instance, when people organize to fight tooth and nail against an evil and lose because the Supreme Court, Federal Judges or just anyone who has more power and authority over rules them then where was God? Did He not want the right to vanquish the evil? Satan is the Prince of this world system but God puts limitations on him so I admit I just don’t know how this works.

The Bible teaches that there will be an increase in earthquakes in the end times. No other violent weather is mentioned as a sign of end times that I can recall.

  6. Hi Caitlin,

Fallen humans can’t really have free will if God is going to overrule human choices. Choices between good and evil have consequences. Electing Marxists gets like minded judges appointed to the courts. That could change down the line if people elect God fearing men and women.

Of course, free will only goes so far. It just goes until the end of age and then the controlling satanic world system is judged and his evil tares are burned. Then Jesus rules the coming kingdom age with perfect justice.

  7. Hi Don,

Of course, because of free will God doesn’t overrule evil choices either. I don’t how that managed to escape my mind but thanks for capturing it and returning it to me.

  8. Want an idea of what it would be like? Read The Black Book of Communism by Harvard University Press. The rose of socialism is red for a reason. This new system, which is already here, will be mans attempt at building his secular Godless world. A Plato’s republic of sorts. When the Bolshevicks were gaining control of Russia they rode in on the vehicle of socialism. Then once in power the horns came out. Look for a repeat of history.

The enemy has most people by defeating them on the most basic level, the battle of the mind.

    Listen to Scripture
    1Pe 1:13 Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;

  9. This is apropos to the most recent discussion of sin and evil in this world. I get these devotionals everyday.

God used us today, we went to the beach for a few hours then driving home we first drove by where we use to camp, a little out of the way, on the way back on route a baby (1 1/2) was walking out on a two lane highway! We stopped told my wife to walk the child back to his house, the mom had 3 other kids looked like just got back from grocery shopping, lost track of the child. That was something.

  10. Hey Don, good article and I don’t see much chance of a revival occurring here, although I do pray that many more people will get to know Jesus.

I’ve been studying prophesy for the last 1.5 years and was hoping USA would play a role in helping Israel and being a great advocate for God and His people. Unfortunately right now USA better matches the harlot of Rev. 17 and 18. We are clearly the “head of gold” in the world today, just as Babylon was in their heyday. It’s possible our national sin causes us to repeat the arrogance and selfishness of Sodom and Gomorrah per Ezekiel 16:49-50 and become powerfully awful.

We are the super power that rules over world leaders (Rev 17:18)

Leader in world influence. Influences or has power over many people/nations/languages (Rev 17:1,15)

Is a whore [spiritual infidelity to the one true God, immersed in false religions, worshiping sports, technology, government, self] (Rev 19:2)

Influenced world leaders (and their countries) to sin with her, corrupts the world with her immorality (probably thru movies, music, internet) (Rev 17:2, 18:3b)

Materialistically wealthy – overindulgent, extravagantly, state of having too much (Rev 17:4a, 18:16)

Hungers for materialistic wealth (Rev 18:14)

Its business leaders are world famous (probably the tech and biz leaders in the country) like Bill Gates, Warren Buffett, Donald Trump, Mark Zuckerberg, Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk (Rev 18:23b)

Sailors will see the smoke of her burning from their ships, so must have huge international trade and large port cities (Rev 18:17b-18)

Has influence over the antichrist (she rides the beast) and the beast [antichrist] hates her. (Rev 17:3b, 17:16a)

Killed prophets and God’s holy people – could still be future (Rev 17:6, 18:24)

Will be burned by the antichrist and destroyed quickly and violently, never inhabited again (Rev 16:19b, 17:16b, 18:2, 18:8, 18:10, 19:3, Isaiah 13:19-20a)

  11. Hi,

I’m not sure which is more dreadful… The decay scenario itemized above, or just getting it over with quickly a la EMP attack.

Not exactly wishful thinking (well, maybe), but I keep trying to tell myself that a rapture before the judgment of America would fit best. Yeah, probably wishful thinking.

As for the quick flip to the swamp side by Trump, I do wonder if he’s been compromised? Hmmmm. (this paragraph may be off topic to the blog).

  12. So don

I’m in MO at a McDonald’s near at 5pm on Saturday 23 the day Jupiter gets hit by the hidden planet and there is guy in this McDonald’s that has 3 bibles

And is working on stuff is that you ha ha

I agree that America is not likely to have a revival or any revival as the next thing on Gods agenda is the tribulations there are no more Church ages we are the last age

Anyway things do not look good for America

  13. Hi Duane,

Parts of American can be somewhat like Sodom and Gomorrah but in no way does America fulfill chapters 17 and 18 of Revelation. The same Harlot that shed the blood of the early prophets and saints sheds the blood of the latter saints.

Read my Revelation commentary chapter 17 and 18 for the identity of the Harlot and Babylon the great.

  14. In my opinion, America has had a revival going on for quite a while now.

Based on statistics about church attendance, Sunday School attendance, crime, divorce, abortion, etc… we have been having a revival of EVIL since around 1900.

That 1900 first generation did not hold steadfastly to God’s Word, their children said there could be something other than God’s word, their grandchildren saw so much evil (World War II) that they began doubting God. The great grandchildren said there was something other than God. The great great grandchildren of today now say there is no God and that whatever they want is god. This has been going on for around 100 years now…

There were less than 1% atheists and agnostics in the US in 1900; now it is up to 20 to 25% depending on who polls and how they ask. The regular cycle of American “spiritual awakenings” in the 1960s & 1970s failed to drive people to God but drove them to social justice, sexual justice and whatever I say justice (and every man did what was right in his own eyes). In other words, a revival of evil was accomplished right under the noses of the “functioning” Christian churches of those day.

To expect those now “semi-functioning” Christian churches to allow enough God into them to empower then to pull off a real national level Christian (not evil) revival in America is most likely a very false expectation.

  15. Don, took a look at your commentary on Rev 17 and 18. I think we’ll probably have to agree to disagree on that one. In my mind Iraq is no where in the ballpark when it comes to a military, political, and economic superpower described in Rev 17 and 18. Also don’t think the antichrist will hate that country like he will hate America.

Saw one of your blogs about upcoming persecution of Christians in 5 years here in America. I see the same thing in our future, believe in 10 or 20 years it might even become bloody. Hope I’m wrong about that, but given the overwhelming alignment between mystery Babylon and USA we are the only country (at least for now) that fits, all others aren’t even close. And we have to rule out a bunch of middle-eastern and norther African countries since Babylon won’t be inhabited again and many of those are mentioned in the Millennium.

  16. Duane,

This article is not about Babylon so I am not going to continue down that rabbit trail. I will only point out that the Harlot of Revelation 17 is not Iraq, it is a city and religion (Rome) that is in bed with the satanic world system. Revelation 18 is the satanic world system itself and the city that heads it in the time of the Antichrist.

For many reasons you only have two or three choices for where Babylon sits depending upon how literally you take the scriptures. Revelation says it is a city. The prophecies in the OT says Babylon is on the plains of Shinar (Iraq). If you take it figuratively, it could be Rome or Jerusalem. Now some say Mecca but that really does not fit.

Babylon the Great in the end times is nothing but a satanic counterfeit for the coming Kingdom of God. The struggle has been between the city of God and the city of Satan since the rebellion at Babel.

Zec 5 taken in context is talking about the end times.

8 And he said, This is wickedness. And he cast it into the midst of the ephah; and he cast the weight of lead upon the mouth thereof.
9 Then lifted I up mine eyes, and looked, and, behold, there came out two women, and the wind was in their wings; for they had wings like the wings of a stork: and they lifted up the ephah between the earth and the heaven.
10 Then said I to the angel that talked with me, Whither do these bear the ephah?
11 And he said unto me, To build it an house in the land of Shinar: and it shall be established, and set there upon her own base.

Obviously in the last days the center of wickedness will be moved to where the rebellion all began at Babylon on the plains of Shinar.

Babylon was not totally destroy as the Old Testament prophecies about Babylon said. People still live there even today. The scriptures about the destruction of Babylon still must be fulfilled.

Why at the site of Babylon? Maybe because it is a place sacred to Satan. It probably is some kind of portal that the fallen angels use. If there is some kind of (alien) disclosure and they pick that area as where they will have their presence, a very large city would spring up in a very short period of time.

Besides, all prophecy is Israel centered. There is no prophecy about the United States. There is nothing new under the sun. What happened before will happen again. Babylon happened on the plains of Shinar and it will happen again where God said it will happen. At best America could be a type of Nineveh. But Nineveh repented for awhile.

  17. Hi Don, that’s a very interesting prophecy, won’t go far down that rabbit trail but if you’re interested in more modern interpretations search the web for “zechariah 5 missile” and you’ll get tons of articles and videos. Here’s a decent one:

I think Zechariah was describing something completely foreign to him, and honestly he did a pretty good job with the vocabulary available at the time. Based on the context of the passage nuclear missiles with a “fire” (not woman) makes a lot more sense.

My guess is since the word “Shinar” is used instead of the more common Babylon it is referring to the specific geography of ancient Babel/Babylon. Could be a nuclear stock pile that is used to destroy Mystery Babylon, or some of the other judgements like Revelation 8:7.

  18. Hi Duane,

That is a pretty far fetched interpretation if you ask me. People try to make the Bible support the strangest conjectures when they start reading their own interpretations into them. There simply is no reason to believe that this prophecy is talking about a nuclear missile. I would sooner believe that it is talking about a plane transporting Hillary for some international witch gathering at Babylon.

  19. Ha! Funny.

To be fair to my theory above if Zechariah did see modern warfare his terminology would likely be similar to what we see in that 5th chapter.

    – Duane

  20. Maybe, but your assuming what I quoted from Zec 5 is talking about modern warfare. I think it is just transferring the center of the satanic system of government.

  21. Hi Don, & all,

This caught my eye near the end of the article.

“Revival for revival sake, like many of our churches have each year? ”

Because, having come from an Independent,Fundamentalist Baptist background, I’ve seen my share of the yearly (tent) revivals. Where everyone is expected to turn out for, and of course,
“Give Generously” which only depleted the resources of the congregation, to support the Wolves in Sheep’s Clothing fleecing the flocks of God. I’ve witnessed some pretty despicable scheme’s to raise money during these “fake revivals” not unlike the kind where people go to jail for fraud. For instance, when passing around the bucket, someone inevitably JUMP’S up with such enthusiasm, you’d think his chair on fire. Then, loudly declares he’s giving his “whole paycheck” or some such exorbitant amount, in order to shame all the rest into giving even more than they had earlier in the meetings.

It reminded me of Jesus in the temple, chastising, and whipping those who made “merchandise” of the flock, and running them out. That these unscrupulous false brethren can get away with such practices, wink, wink, only makes it that much more egregious.
