FOXNews.com - Russian President Vladimir Putin Intends to Become Prime Minister - Blogs: “Mr. Putin wowed the fawning European press by shrugging off a carefully-leaked rumor of an alleged assassination attempt and by speaking fluent German — a language he mastered as a KGB officer in Dresden during the Cold War. All this apparently took U.S. diplomats and intelligence agencies by surprise. But wait, there’s more. While in Germany, the macho Mr. Putin baldly told reporters, and therefore all those who might contemplate military action against Tehran, “Threatening someone, in this case the Iranian leadership and the Iranian people will lead nowhere. They are not afraid, believe me.” And just to make sure everyone got his point, two days later he went to Tehran for a “Caspian littoral” summit and reiterated to the world that Russia would block any moves to stop Iran’s nuclear program. And to ice Mr. Putin’s cake, reputable polls show that more than 70 percent of Russians approve of his leadership. Officials in Washington, London and Paris don’t seem to be worried — but they should be.”

If the West delays taking out Iran’s nuclear facilities much longer they will be under the protection of Russia under a defense alliance. That will set the stage for the Russian/Gog invasion of Ezekiel 38 and 39. Gog comes with Iran. Of course if we take out Iran’s nuclear facilities the same thing will happen but then Iran will not be able to trigger World War III for a decade or so. It seems to me that Russia does not now have the capability to fulfill the Gog prophecy. However, with the rapid militarization planed by Putin of Russia, she will have that capability in 10 to 20 years. Therefore, I expect the immediate nuclear threat from Iran to be stopped very soon, allowing for a temporary peace agreement in the region and making the Gog war, probably triggered by Iran, to be 10 to 20 years in the future.

Maybe Bush should stop calling Putin ‘his friend’. He’s not for heaven’s sake your friend. Nor is he the friend of Europe. He’s a former KGB agent and the man expressed his regrets over the end of the Soviet Union. How can you trust such a man? His lust for power can be read on his face. His actions speak louder than words and no one should be deceiving himself about the fact that Putin is never going to make a free country out of Russia. Tell me, when has Russia ever even been truly free? I can’t think of any period. Individual rights, economic freedom and limited gov’t are alien concepts to most Russians. Russia is a hotbed for all kinds of extremist viewpoints. You even have a large group of racist anti-Semite neo-Nazi skinheads there that have the Nazi flag with a hammer and sickle instead of a swastika as their symbol. A large number of people still sympathize with the Communist Party. Not to mention that ‘patriotic’ pro-Putin youth movement you have written about earlier. Why is that? Because a large segment of the Russian population want to see Russia restored as a major global player. And that will only happen if it has a strong leader with an authoritarian if not totalitarian Soviet-style gov’t that chooses to go against the West. Russia’s support for rogue regimes that oppress their own people - such as the Islamic Republic of Iran - is a good example of that.
