Homosexuals deserve to be executed or tortured and possibly both, an Iranian leader told British MPs during a private meeting at a peace conference, The Times has learned.
Mohsen Yahyavi is the highest-ranked politician to admit that Iran believes in the death penalty for homosexuality after a spate of reports that gay youths were being hanged.
President Ahmadinejad, questioned by students in New York two months ago about the executions, dodged the issue by suggesting that there were no gays in his country.
Does anyone on the Left still think that they can reason with these people?

Either they’re going to remain silent about it or they’ll make a fuzz about it and try to make support for gay rights around the world a policy for the UN. I’m actually kind of suprised that hasn’t happened so far but I’m pretty sure it’s going to happen some day. I think homosexuality will become accepted at some point throughout Europe and gay marriage will be officially supported by the EU. Other nations around the world are now lending their support for the LGBT movement also. For that reason I think that at one point the UN may maintain that gay marriage or at least some LGBT rigths are ‘human rights’. Under that definition any nation that has ratified the human rights declaration will be condemned for not supporting the gay movement. I tend to think that the world in the end times will be so corrupted that homosexual activity will increase and will be accepted as normal everywhere.
What Iran is doing is extreme. I don’t think as a Christian that civil government should be executing and torturing gays for their homosexuality. Rather if they commit an offense they should have them placed in rehabs. Christians shouldn’t be too focused on the gov’t role in all this though, except when gov’t wants to force people to accept homosexuality as something that is normal and an acceptable lifestyle. Which it is doing in the West.
Christians should reach out to gays and help them in breaking free from the bondage to their sin. At the same time we must remember that God declared in His holy Law that those guilty of this form of fornication were to be put to death (Leviticus 20).
What is happening to gays in Iran is pretty much what may have happened in Israel during ancient times and it was God’s Law! That is not to say we should support capital punishment for gays now of course. But it shows that it is important for Christians to reach out to anyone living in such sins because the sins which they live in are such an abomination to God that were it not for Christ’s sacrifice, they would have to be put to death and no forgiveness was possible. With Christ, forgiveness is possible. But those who persevere in this sin will surely never be allowed in God’s kindom!
We should rejoice we are not under the Law anymore since nobody can be saved by it. We all deserve death for our sins, even if we are not homosexual. Christ’s sacrifice however didn’t contradict the Law. Homosexuality and *any* kind of adultery are still an abomination to God and that is why we should not accept it but aim at living in purity and reach out to those living in bondage to these sins so they may be saved in Christ.
Supporting death penalty for homosexuality is not what Christians ought to be doing. But focussing too much on opposing it in Iran and siding with the ungodly politicians in the West isn’t what we should be doing either because it may lead us to minimize the severity of the sin. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness? (2 Corinthians 6:14)
