‘Post-Christian era’? Don’t tell Third World
WorldNetDaily: ‘Post-Christian era’? Don’t tell Third World: “There is no doubt secularism has virtually depleted the West of a Christian consciousness. It’s as though the final great apostasy prophesied in the book of Revelation is unfolding before our very eyes. Dutifully we remind ourselves that it is ‘a post-Christian era’ – which in turn has had the effect of institutionalizing apathy among many Christians, who have hunkered down in their little ghetto-communes awaiting Christ’s imminent return instead of obediently working to re-disciple the West and its culture. Whatever we make of the decline in the West, I think the paradigm ‘As the West goes, so goes Christianity’ is wrong. It is wrong because it simply doesn’t make sense on a global scale. When I look at the world, I don’t see a bleak future for Christianity. And I certainly don’t see evidence of a post-Christian era outside of ‘the West.’ “
Although there is some truth to what he says in this article it certainly is not all true.
There is no final great apostasy from the Christian faith prophesied in the Book of Revelation that is found elsewhere.
Western Christians are not hunkered down in their little ghetto-communes awaiting for Christ’s return instead of working. You obviously think that God does not work in His people. I think you are getting Christian identity mixed up with true Christianity and Christian identity knows nothing about Christ’s imminent return.
Much of the world has never embraced Christ, is not open to Christ or is now in apostasy. Yes some of the third world poor in South America, Africa and China are receiving Christ but with a few exceptions that is about it. You also fail to mention the rise of Islam in Africa and the world. Even in these third world countries they often mix Christianity with native pagan religions to create their own hybrid religion. So it is not quite like you paint. Do you really think the poorest of the world’s poor are now going to launch a revival to the rich nations that have already rejected the Christian message??? That is not logical.
I think you are missing the picture here, perhaps due to wishful thinking or Christian dominionst thinking. Unfortunately we must live in a real world.
