Boeing Testing Powerful Airborne Laser

FOXNews.com - Boeing Testing Another Powerful Airborne Laser - Science News Science & Technology Technology News: “The Advanced Tactical Laser can produce a four-inch-diameter beam of energy that can slice through metal from a distance of 9 miles,’ states a report on GlobalSecurity.org.”

The resulting laser beam would be used by the military to damage and weaken enemy ground installations rapidly and without collateral damage.
The program is a sibling of Boeing’s Airborne Laser program, already in testing, in which a similarly high-powered laser is mounted in a vertically mounted turret on the nose of a 747. That weapon is designed to shoot down tactical ballistic missiles already in flight.

Ouch! It probably could also eventually be made more powerful or more focused and vaporise people from space platforms. Science fiction has become reality.

To paraphrase Star Wars, I guess the only thing left to wait for is some Antichrist emperor to “excecute Order 66.”

By the way, seeing this technology is being developed by a private company, it is actually going to be available for purchase by non-U.S. gov’ts?

If they manage to make a laser sword out of it, they have a potential buyer here, haha.

If they want to save the world they ought to develop a laser that cuts through elitist BS.
