The U.S. Hyperinflationary depression of 2010-2020
This is the best written paper I have read on what is likely to happen to the U.S. economy between now and 2018.
I think what is said here is essentially correct. I do not think it will be quite as bad as the writer says or quite like Germany’s monetary collapse of the Weimar Republic only because our collapse will bring about the collapse of the economy of the whole world and the world power brokers will work overtime to come up with a solution (probably a world currency). I do see the living standards in the United States dropping to about half of what it is today in just a decade. The civil unrest this will all cause will change our nation and the world as we know it.
hadow Government Statistics ยป Special Issue – Hyperinflation
The U.S. economy is in an intensifying inflationary recession that eventually will evolve into a hyperinflationary great depression. Hyperinflation could be experienced as early as 2010, if not before, and likely no more than a decade down the road. The U.S. government and Federal Reserve already have committed the system to this course through the easy politics of a bottomless pocketbook, the servicing of big-moneyed special interests, and gross mismanagement.
Tags: Politics, trendsThe U.S. has no way of avoiding a financial Armageddon. Bankrupt sovereign states most commonly use the currency printing press as a solution to not having enough money to cover their obligations. The alternative would be for the U.S. to renege on its existing debt and obligations, a solution for modern sovereign states rarely seen outside of governments overthrown in revolution, and a solution with no happier ending than simply printing the needed money. With the creation of massive amounts of new fiat (not backed by gold) dollars will come the eventual complete collapse of the value of the U.S. dollar and related dollar-denominated paper assets.
What lies ahead will be extremely difficult and unhappy times for many.

If this happens, I hope the confederacy rises again and takes over and straighten up things.
Or just Americans who actually believe and abide by the U.S. Constitution. The government right now is using powers it was never given in the Constitution to take over just about everything. We have become a socialist nation in just two weeks and nobody sees a problem?
So what should we do?
People really need to get their standard of living down so that they can live on half the income they had because like it or not most here will. The days of excesses are over. People might start by living within their means and by getting out of debt. That might mean getting rid of cable TV, the latest cell phones, high speed Internet lines and other luxuries. Downsize your house if possible, pay off your credit cards and forget new cars unless you can pay cash and afford the yearly insurance and tax. Anyone who thinks we have gotten through the economic crises is in for a rude awaking.

Are short term treasuries a good idea, as it seems we are going to have massive bank failures and FDIC is tipping over. Not to mention geopolitical….
I am not a financial adviser so I can not advise anyone on how to invest their short term wealth. Anything backed by the government is going to be paid or there would be civil upheaval. However, the short interest rates are so low that you are actually going to lose money after you figure inflation and taxes on the increase. Everything has risk and the risk generally determines your return. For those with small amounts of money laying around in banks I suggest they spend some of it on tangibles while they still can. Things they know they will need in the future anyway like a years supply of food, a wood stove if they live in the country, guns, bullets, warm clothes, etc.
Really anything that will hold its value can be used to barter with if things really get bad. Don’t go overboard or it will just be stolen or confiscated. The best security anyone can have is to have a needed skill.
