But isn't it awfully good to know that our blessed Savior at his coming for the sound of the trumpet will not even hear that dryer running ??? and .... one can easily put 2 and 2 together WHO WILL FOLD them once they are done dry .... OH how i LOVE my air conditioning .... That does not mean God tells us not to use the reason we have been endowed with and that it is always sinful to doubt and to question. But the problem is that in we have become so stuck in the belief that human reason is absolute that we cannot content ourselves anymore with the fact that our reason is limited and corrupt as a result of sin entering the world, that all have transgressed God's commandments, and that certain things are simply beyond human reason and understanding. We have become arrogant and have turned man himself - the crown of God's creation - into an idol. In other words what Jesus was saying is that we need to humble ourselves. And I must admit myself that this is not always an easy thing to do. Those who deny the existence of the Spirit deny the existence of the Trinity and therefore the existence of God. They must therefore also deny the events at Pentecost. Those who deny the existence of Satan therefore also implicitely or explicitely reject the existence of fallen angels, the existence of demons, the exorcisms Jesus performed on demon-posessed persons, the existence of the archangels and cherubs, the existence of the messenger who informed Mary of her pregnancy and therefore also Jesus' miraculous conception, His divinity... AND hence His very ability to conquer death and sin! Denying the existence of Satan and the Holy Spirit is denying Jesus as your God and your Savior.
