In Latin America, the leftists are using “voting” and “democratic institutions” to kill liberty once and for all. Once they control the institutions, they do anything-from brainwashing education to drugs traffic. This week Daniel Ortega, Nicaragua’s actual President, got the Supreme Court to rule in his favor to run, if elected, for a 3rd consecutive term. This guys just cannot let go of power. His is an example almost absurd because he was in power for 11 years in a communist government in the 1980’s and now they are worst than they were in the 1970’s. So if socialism didn’t work in Nicaragua in his hands, why should it work now? In other hand, the ALBA countries (those with Hugo Chavez), have decided to sink down Honduras with economical multilateral sanctions from South America. (By the way, the US has cut all the economical help to Honduras and so have the UN and the BCIE-the regional central american bank—we need allies!) We are the only L.A. country that has stopped the advance of the castro-chavist socialist agenda. And what do we get?

The key protector of the liberty in Honduras are the Armed Forces, the actual Constitution and the common men. When they pushed the Military into playing politics, the Military chose to protect the Constitution. They tried to change the Constitution because it is imposible to have a dictatorship under it. Their rationale is that since the “people” is the sovereign power, and the people brought forth the Constitution, then the “people” can change the Constitution to whatever it wants to. So the manipulate voting and use poverty as an excuse for change. I am admired that although hondurans are poor, they prefer to be poor and free, than to be poor and oppressed by leftist totalitarism. 80% of the hondurans do not want all this changes, so they do not have real popular power.

I see some similarities in the way the Latin American leftists have managed things and how are things going on in the Obama administration. One of them is the call for a “fundamental change”. Also, the manipulation of the Media in their favor. The introduction of issues to separate the country and make everyone willing to accept anything in order to get social peace. The manipulation of the public education to change young minds. The use of populist decisions to “buy” votes. What else? The bankruption of the country to push things to an unnecessary risky economical position. And, to talk badly of rich people.

None of this strategies are new, and some do work.

In the end of the day, what really matters are the convictions of common people in the Armed Forces. In the case of Honduras they decided to keep their oath and protect the Constitution.
