New evangelicalism usually also means denying Bible inerrancy

I recently read the book “New Evangelicalism“, by Paul Richard Smith, founder of Calvary Chapel Victorville CA. Paul Smith is a leader in the Calvary Chapel movement founded by his brother Chuck Smith, who also wrote the foreword to Paul Smith’s book.

The book gives a brief history of modern Protestantism beginning with modernism where scripture became critically analyzed through the filters of the philosophies of 19th and early 20th century humanist intellectuals. This humanistic intellectual analysis of the scriptures became known as “higher criticism”. I took one of those silly “higher criticism” courses in college myself.

I will give you my own take on modernism; most of what I will say about modernism in Christianity does not come from Paul Smith’s book, but from what I read in his book, I think Paul Smith would agree with most of it.… continue reading

Revivals without relevent messages for Americans are dead on arrival

I guess you should expect articles like this once in awhile because part of the title of this blog is “Church Trends”. In case you do not know, a Blog is a personal journal. It is where I get to publicly express my views on topics that come to my mind. People are free to read them or not read them, and to agree or disagree.  If this post upsets someone they need to realize that there are other views in the world besides their own.

A pastor claims that he wants a revival in his church but he says he cannot find any evangelist that will teach a clear message of salvation every night during the revival.… continue reading

Compromising the gospel for church growth and American idol heretics.

I get no joy out of telling people that much of what is being passed off as Christianity today is counterfeit. Those American Idols that are pushing modern heresies on people may think they are being opened minded but they really have become a willing door of Satanic deception. Satan’s goal is to get people who identify with Christianity to doubt fundamental doctrines that uniquely define who a Christian is. Satan then substitutes Christian doctrine with doctrines of demons in order to create counterfeits of the Christian religion. These demonic bastardizations of Christianity are not true Christianity.

for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.

The relationship between making Bible passages allegory and heretical cults

The Bible contains allegory but when it does it is also makes it clear in the passage. I think along with legalism there is a strong relationship between those that twist Bible passages into allegory and heretical movements and cults.

We can look at the history of Christianity since the Apostles and we will see a reoccurring pattern between allegory and heresy. The first heretics were legalists that wanted to put Jews that found the Messiah back under Jewish law. Soon after we know that gnostic heretics became a plague on the Church. They made scriptures allegorical so it would comply with their old and new mystical beliefs.… continue reading

The near death of Christian discernment in these last days

Discernment between good and evil hardly exists in the world in these last days where everyone does what is right in their own eyes. It is displayed by the choices the leaders in the world make nearly every day. For example, the condemning of Israel or Arizona for practicing self defense.

I guess these thing can be expected because we are told these things will happen in these last days. But, even in our churches the lack of spiritual discernment has become quite evident. One has to wonder how so many that claim to be born of the Spirit show no spiritual discernment about anything?continue reading

Should churches run preschools? I say nope.

This post is not going to make me popular with some people that I know since two out of my last three churches operate preschools. Nevertheless, I have to write what I really believe and that might not be what certain people what to hear. When I talk about preschool here I am talking about structured programs away from home before kindergarten. I know kindergarten is really preschool but kindergarten with five and six year old children could have educational value.

My generation generally did not go to preschools and I think that my generation did as well or better than any generation since then academically or socially.… continue reading

The people said, “Give us a King”! Then pimp for hucksters and communist queens.

Just reading about what is going on in this nation and the world and churches each day is enough to make the blood boil of real Christians and real American patriots.  I am learning how Lot felt when the Sodomites took over the land and how Martin Luther felt when he came to realize that the Roman Church was run by the same den of vipers that crucified his Lord. I am also beginning to understand the feelings of Patrick Henry that said, “give me Liberty or give me Death”. He would be saying the same thing today to our government of pimps and queens that want to run a collective communist Borg ant farm here.… continue reading

Robert Schuller’s mighty glass empire is shattering and his hour of power is on its final minute.

Robert Schuller’s mighty glass empire appears to be shattering and his hour of power seems to be on its final minute. Robert A. Schuller is a believer and teacher of Universalism (all will be no saved no human is condemned by sin). He is the father of the gospel of self-esteem and possibility thinking and was one of the top pushers of Christian pop psychology and was also a main figure in the Church Growth Movement,  and those redefining Christianity.

How the mighty have fallen over family feuds and secret sin!

America is on the wrong track because the lights are out.

America is on the wrong track heading for a train wreck sure enough because the lights are out at the switch yard and America is traveling the wrong way on a one way track. The train wreck now seems inevitable unless someone turns on the lights so America sees the signs and quickly reverses direction.

If the light from God’s people are hidden under a bushel they cannot cast out the darkness. Some pastors and leaders in Christianity are the bushels hiding the light. The only way for lights to shine is to get out from under the bushels.

Dave Daubenmire — Turn on the Lights

So, where do we go from here?

Dead Christians walking to a rude awaking for America

Dave is correct about the vast majority of Christianity in America and the West. We have become like our mother Israel who became a Harlot and God cast her out of the land. We made corrupt world leaders our saviors, we took the God who sustains us out of the equation, and played the harlot with the world and trust in our material riches.

Christianity in America is on her death bed. What happened to our Mother Harlot Israel will now happen to the apostate church. Nevertheless, even in the Harlot that we now call Christianity God has a faithful remnant that have not bowed their knee to the neo-paganism Baal of our time.… continue reading

Parallels between The Shack God and A.A.’s higher power.

“The Shack”, by William P. Young is still a hugely popular and very deceptive book that is likely to become a movie. Those that believe there is a Christian message or theme in this book are totally deceived and must not believe biblical doctrine themselves at all. The book presents another God, another Christ, and another path to salvation. “The Shack” really promotes “New Age” all paths Universalism much like A.A. which itself was founded by a man who got messages from the occult. The book is blasphemous toward God presuming to speak for God while actually promoting a “Queen of Heaven” type God that does not exist.… continue reading

When will we believe acts of God are acts of God?

Is America now under judgment? When are acts of God acts of God? Has America done anything worthy of judgment? You be the judge.

  • So far this year we are involved in two foreign wars with another war being a distinct possibility.
  • We have had unprecedented numbers of tornadoes.
  • The Mid-West floods have been catastrophic.
  • More of California has burned this year then in any year in history and the fires are still burning with a fire season that still has a long way to go

The all-gods sect called Alcoholics Anonymous or A.A.

This is a clever article that points out the problems with Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and most other 12 step programs.

Missionaries Into Darkest Alcoholics Anonymous – CWN

Mama and Papa,

We are in America at last. The Lord has sent us into the strangest belief system. The men and women here seem impervious to the Gospel, but the Lord has given us great love for them.

This religion teaches that virtually anything can be defined as a god. During their meetings these people gather and pray in unity, but the “god” each individual prays to can be as varied and unique as particles of sand in our African desert.

Sheep will have no direction without Shepherds

I have often heard pastors tell the sheep in the pews that they need to get busy because God works through them as well. That is true, but sheep do not lead they follow. Perhaps your people are not doing anything but warming the pews because you have not provided them a spiritual battle plan. How many are even giving their onward Christian soldiers a weekly briefing on issues of our day like those found in the quote of Dave Daubenmire below?

I think we have all heard enough of your canned applications for living a Christian life. Now we need leaders who know how to take the high ground and be steadfast against the amorality and heresies of our day that are perverting our nation and our churches.

AA and 12 steps were not founded by Christians

Churches today are filled with 12 step programs based on a model that has no foundation in Christianity. I also wrote my own article that deals with the issue.

It is not just fear that keeps us bound to this all-gods religion. The 12 Step experience becomes an idol—long-term involvement almost always results in a transference of faith. Bluntly stated, when it comes to sobriety, many Christians end up with more faith in the power of the 12 Step program than in Jesus Christ.

This idol worship is by no means limited to those in AA, but applies to many in “Christian 12 Step” groups.

12 steps toward pluralism and universalism defiles Christians

This is a very well written article on why pastors should not be promoting 12 step programs like AA. I wrote my own article on this subject a while back that says much the same things. You will find it in the New Evangelicals and post-modern psychobabble section of a much larger article I wrote on Dominion theology and where it will lead the church. There are a couple of good reference links on my piece. One is on the founders of AA, Bill Wilson, who was a real nut case. Also read the below article it gives additional insights.

A perfect example of a graduate of a 12 step program is President George Bush.… continue reading

Dobson and Schuller’s Psychological Christianity

Gee, someone actually agrees with what I say about this sacred cow of Christianity. Most science is corrupted by deceptive philosophies of the world in one way or another and does not mix well with Christianity. Theories of Psychotherapy do not mix at all

“Dobson’s Law” has always agreed with Robert Schuller

In response to recent articles concerning Shirley Dobson’s commendation of the ministry of Robert Schuller, I must confess there is no surprise here. Nothing has contributed more to the current preoccupation with self than the propagation of the psychological gospel. And perhaps no man has popularized this man-centered approach to Christianity more than radio psychologist, James Dobson.

Shirley Dobson appears on Hour of Power and says Robert Schuller is doing good work

Much of the church is missing Dr. Dobson’s mixed message because he tells them what they want to hear on issues of the family and morality but Dr. Dobson seems to be confused on many theological issues – from the evil of psychology in the Church, to soft dominionism to his confusion on Robert Schuller’s universalism.

I wrote an article that includes information on Dr. Dobson if anyone cares to read it. The major segment on Dobson is about half way down the article in the psychobabble section, also check the excellent link within for much more information.

Psychology emerging in Christianity

Many Christian leaders understand that moral relativism is a plague on society but for some reason they do not understand that this thinking originated from theories of psychology.

It also is no accident that psychology is now a major part of the education offered in many Bible colleges and seminaries. Is it any wonder then that leaders with majors and minors in psychology are now emerging out of these schools and are creating the Emergent Church movement.

They teach people to question and redefine what were once Christian absolutes. So now we have the emerging blind leading the blind that have already been brainwashed to accept moral relativism by their secular educators.… continue reading

Accommodation or Confrontation with the world system?

Dr Francis Schaeffer in 1984 said, “The grossest form of worldliness is conforming to the form of worldliness that exists in it’s own generation”. That is exactly what is happening today in much of Christianity.

Accommodation or Confrontation – CWN: ” recently watched a video presentation of Dr. Francis Schaeffer’s last public meeting before he died in 1984. I was stunned, again, by the precision of his insights into his era, and ours. Dr. Schaeffer’s last two books, The Great Evangelical Disaster and A Christian Manifesto, were nothing short of prophetic. As he approached his death, after fifty years of his ministry, he observed that evangelicalism over that time could be summarized primarily by one term: Accommodation.
