Fantasyland has progressed to become much of California

Fantasyland was once confined to Disneyland in California but it has now progressed to become much of California. People in California continually vote to do more harm to themselves. So, you have to believe that most of the people living there are out of touch with reality and the state has become suicidal.

California in many ways has become a schizophrenic “Hotel California”, little it does makes any logical sense. Can the air and water be blamed for the insanity that rages in California? They themselves seem to think so because they just keep making more costly environmental laws when they are already dead broke. It could have something to do with the drinking water that now contains MTBE poison due to the fact that California legislators mandated that this poison be put in gasoline after thinking that it was lead in the gas that was making Californians crazy. Even now in a financial crises they never get it, the people just voted to cap carbon emissions on their 600 main industries. They think this will not impact jobs? Sure Daffy! Welcome to Hotel California.

After two terms of  a steroid poping pothead body builder actor as Governor, they once again elected Jerry Brown, (A.K.A. Governor Moonbeam) to take over running the affairs of the state. According to Albert Einstein people that keep making the same mistakes over and over expecting different results are insane. Looking at California I have no reason to doubt him.

California is called the land of the fruits, flakes and nuts because of the fitting double meaning. However, now much of the produce comes out of Mexico and most of the fruits, flakes, nuts (and drug-heads) are found in coastal cities. When you cross over into the inland empire the other main export from Mexico is seen in abundance. Mexico exports its people to a Mexican Reserve called the Californian Central Valley.

Much of the Central Valley now looks and sounds like it belongs in Mexico. The housing, environmental and health regulations are only for those living within the western Fantasyland. The Central Valley apparently is exempt because government bureaucrats don’t want to deal with the Mexicans.

Governor elect Jerry Brown is saying that the budget shortfall will by worse then He thought and about 29 billion dollars. California’s debt is almost almost three trillion dollars right now. The debt ratio is over twice the debt ratio of the federal government and California is not allowed to just print money like the Fed. Yet, California is not allowed to default either. So all it can do is raise taxes, make cuts, or sell more bonds that just make the problem worse. They attempt to kick the can down the road with bonds and by doing so that increases the amount of interest that they will have to pay in all future budgets.

California already is one of highest taxed states in the nation but it will need to raise or cut many billions more to meet its budget this year. California is now one of the highest risks in the world for debt default of any state or nation. Nevertheless, they continue to put more burdens on the productive to distribute it to those that do not contribute much to society. Those that have the skills to make enough to pay taxes are increasing leaving the state and those that receive much more from the State of California then they pay in are increasing in numbers radically. They are coming into the state from Mexico in hordes.

Illegal aliens in California receive about $20 billion more in state services than they pay in state taxes. There lies the main budget deficit problem. If the budget had been limited to the population-inflation growth rate, California would have a surplus. The problem really is the increase in government, government programs to support illegals, over regulation and over lucrative pay and retirement programs for state workers.

One third of state prison inmates are illegal aliens. Yet, California is full of sanctuary cites. The rural road infrastructure is crumbling because they use gasoline tax money for other things. The state now ranks 48th in spending per pupil and more cuts are planned. The state has the lowest ratio of emergency rooms to population in the country because hospitals cannot stay in business when they are forced to take people that do not pay.

The real problem in California is that special interest groups and the special political class run the state. The political class thinks the people of California exist to serve the state instead of the other way around.

What this Fantasyland really needs is a constitutional convention. They might follow Iceland’s example. In the world financial crises Iceland became a failed state much like California will become. Iceland is now in the process of nominating common people, not politicians, to write a whole new constitution.

In Hotel California the people just can’t kill the beast that they created through there own votes so they would be far better off picking the delegates at random by merit than by electing them. If the common people cannot establish a rational government in California maybe they should join Mexico because Mexico is increasingly joining them anyway. From what we see happening in Mexico they have much in common. Criminal minds are running things.

  1. Why don’t the people of California see what is happening and demand change? All they all crazy over there? Just live within your means and get rid of all services to illegals and don’t spend more than you take in why is that so hard?

  2. Frankly, the reason for all the “bizaro-ness” is because the majority of the populous is an allotment of spoiled rotten brat scoffers, intent on evil and wickedness (the world view gone inevitably haywire, simply put).

As for the song, instrumentally speaking, what makes it slightly odd and therefore more interesting is that it’s in a “minor” key.

  3. I live in the Central Valley due to will of God,not mine . How dare you speak the truth. Actually, many of us are preparing for Civil War. We know this State will break down. So now I live in the foothills, armed and ready. I see a revolution as inevitable for this Nation.

  4. Their delusions stem from following their icons of high culture. Hollywood and UC Berkley. Could you expect any other result? No surprise here. Wouldn’t want to be within 3 states of the place when things get ugly….

  5. It’s only a matter of time before silicon valley is completely relocated to China and India, then California will be the first 100% Federal Government owner state..or should I say 100% China owned state.

  6. Bob, You mean it really hasn’t spread to NJ yet?? NY will also be a disaster area for many of the same reasons as California.

  7. well i dont see the situation here as bad as cali even tho im still looking for a job (funny) but i’m trying to be a security guard in nyc now and even that is being a problem because there are thousands of applicants and i still didn’t get a call from those agencies. But its just a matter of time before this area turns into cali soon as you stated above.

  8. Lived in California (1990-1994) and left because I got tired of paying for the privilege to live there. Which is sad, because it was one of the most beautiful, temperate places that I ever lived. When I lived there, a ballot initiative came up to actually split the state by north and south. Never went through, but the feelings were there even then.

It’s my guess that California could be one of the first states to fail, and then we’ll have to bail them out because they are too big to fail. We’ll see how that plays out.

But don’t be too hard on all Californians. I live in western Nevada, and many of those who live in Eastern and rural California are not like the nutty liberals in San Fransisco, LA, San Diego, Sacramento, etc. Good people just trying to live a quiet life.

  9. I know, we were once considering living in the Altrus area and I have been all over western California west of Vegas and Reno. Nothing much changes in these areas and the climate for most of the year is great. Two bad the L.A.and San Diego area and the Bay area cannot be separate states. I would love to live up in the national forests of the Northern California but besides having to deal with California the marijuana growers make it dangers to roam around up there.

If we start bailing out states I understand it will cost taxpayers $250 billion a year for each year forward and that does not include local governments. However, what is even more dangerous is that the Federal money would come with strings attached and then Federal government would finish the job of taking away any sovereignty the states still have left.

  10. I agree Don. Sovereignty of the states will be a memory if the states are bailed out by the federal gov’t. I have been watching the state debt issue closely also. I think it’s all going to come to a head towards the end of 2011 and into 2012 sometime.

To change the subject a little, I saw a pie graph the other day of where federal tax dollars go: 57% to Medicare/Medicaid/Social Security, 19% Defense, and the rest I can’t remember. But the point is that that 57% chunk is huge and not sustainable for much longer. The question is; Can the gov’t even cut that at all without riot in the streets?

If the states go to Washington with hat in hand, 250 billion/year will definitely shut off the spigots from China and other nations. Can you say, “flight from the dollar.?” lol

  11. Also interest on the debt is going to increasingly eat up the whole government expenditure pie. They simply cannot make the cuts required without a social breakdown. Even the $100 billion cut that the Republicans propose is only 3 percent of what the government will spend next year.

To avoid riots the only thing the government can do is go further in debt or just create dollars and that will start an inflation spiral.

So how then do they bail out the states for $250 billion more? And believe me bailouts not on the budget are still ongoing using smoke and mirrors and there will be more coming. They can only cover this up for so long.

  12. When the music stops, there are going to a lot people fighting for the last chair….on the deck of the Titanic.

  13. 2012 = ObamaNation/fascism = California + NY + NJ + Illinois + ?….
Christians (true Christians) currently have a front row seat to discern the signs of the times and watch the start of the end unfold. Just like our government takes advantage of crisis, so should us Christians – Help your weaker brothers during these difficult times for God’s glory. Romans 15:[1] We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves.
[2] Let every one of us please his neighbour for his good to edification.
[3] For even Christ pleased not himself; but, as it is written, The reproaches of them that reproached thee fell on me. [4] For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope. [5] Now the God of patience and consolation grant you to be likeminded one toward another according to Christ Jesus: [6] That ye may with one mind and one mouth glorify God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.
    The Gospel to the Gentiles
[7] Wherefore receive ye one another, as Christ also received us to the glory of God.

    Thanks Don for your website.

  14. Correct me if I’m wrong… And I guess the model is the future 1000 year reign…

I would say that Jesus would not have created a democratic form of government by any other name (as Jesus scolded the Israelites in Samuel’s/Saul’s time – “you have Me”).

I’m also not buying in to all the hype about how our forefathers had glorious insight or that America ever was truly a Christian nation. Way too much sin all around, particularly how we are STILL paying for the sin of slavery. I was watching the Wyatt Earp movie and, not that you can necessarily believe movie makers nor the references that were the source thereof, but I definitely picked up on the indifferent attitude to various sins, including prostitution.

And now this wicked nation, as if indifference to abortion and anything-goes-straight-sex isn’t enough, is forcing homosexuality down the military’s throats – which is a guarantee that America will have zero military might when it counts.

Just a matter of time before catastrophic doom hits the nation. It may render the government impotent (at least enough of time passage for the citizenry – or what’s left of it – to get back on its feet in a self sufficient spirit by necessity), but that’s not much of a bright side.

  15. America was founded by a hodge-podge of Christians, Deists, and secularists. All we can say is that America was used for approximately 200+ years to spread the Gospel worldwide (now, S. Korea turns out more missionaries than the U.S.).

And now America will more than likely fall for it’s repudiation of that role. God uses nations all through the O.T. (good and wicked) to accomplish His will. America is no different.

  16. Hey Don,
People in California continually vote to do more harm to themselves. So, you have to believe that most of the people living there are out of touch with reality and the state has become suicidal. (you’re quote)

I’ve lived in Calif. all my life and have seen the changes take place. I believe most of the people aren’t crazy but the political system is rigged for the dems. The unions and special interests run things and crank out all the ads to throw mud at good ideas and even when something good gets passed it is overturned by a liberal judge.
There are many great churches and solid believers but it’s getting bad here no doubt. In the Reagan days and in the ‘Jesus Freak’ days Calif. was at the heart of the Calvary movement which was led by the Lord, though some wayward movements, (Vineyard) came out of it.
Overall I know it would be wrong to lump us all in the same crazy boat. The system doesn’t allow us much room for error and with the deceptive advertising practices and mud slinging people often don’t know which side to take.
People aren’t paying close enough attention which has led to the demise of a once great state. (I miss Ronald…)
I enyoy your thoughts Don and may join in the ‘fray’ on some other topics but chose a mild topic to jump into first.

  17. Hi Doug,

    Welcome to the blog.

I know your not all crazy. I was generalizing but who but the people of California allowed the system to become rigged? With all the Evangelical Christians in Southern California you would think that they would have more influence in the politics of the state.

I was part of the Calvary Chapel movement and they still are on the top of my biblical churches and teachers list but Chuck Smith’s own son has gone emergent last I heard. I wonder how this movement will hold together after Chuck Smith is out of the picture?

I really think some of the best and worst churches in America are in California. I pray the true Christians there are able to bring California back to reality but I am afraid they already let Goofy and the loony tunes take over Fantasyland.

  18. You are right on that Don,

I really think some of the best and worst churches in America are in California. I pray the true Christians there are able to bring California back to reality but I am afraid they already let Goofy and the loony tunes take over Fantasyland.(your quote)

It’s true about Chuck’s son, he has chosen a different road in a few areas.

There are some really bad and really good churches here; and sometimes just down the street from each other.

I’ve seen the growth of the religious movement from barefoot hippies walking into the Calvary Chapel tent in Costa Mesa, getting saved and some of them developing into pastors and others going down crazy roads that led many people astry, (Wimber, etc.)

No doubt the church has fallen asleep even as it thought it was still awake. I have been surprised over the years how things have gotten so bad with as you say such Evangelical Christians who should have had a greater influence.
As you know there was the strong End times influence with Chuck and Hal Lindsey and others in the late 70’s and early 80’s.

I think the church got so caught up in the thought that we were going home that many had no interest in the political system. And remember this ‘movement’ if we can call it that was mostly youth and they, (we) weren’t interested in voting. We were learning about Jesus and learning about a desire and teaching that we should seperate oursleves from the cares of this life and focus on eternity.

In some ways it was led by the Lord of course as with Abraham; many of us had a mind towards that heavenly city and had little interest in political things. But as things developed we got caught with our pants down and now we are in a very bad situation.
Look what Lot got out of his desire to live in the good land. I believe there will be a lot of Calif. believers who will be in Heaven with smoky garments thinking “wheh! that was close.”

Judgment must first begin in the House of the Lord and though we wish God would start with the filthy rotten sinners we find that we are those filthy rotten sinners.

Looking at the prophetic time clock, I don’t believe Calif. will recover spiritually, economically or politically.

  19. I generally agree Doug, but the Christian minority that followed the teaching of Chuck Smith and Hal Lindsey never really had the votes.

I do not think the problem was that Christians were too heavenly minded in the 80’s. I think the real problem was that the vast majority in California were never really true Christians.

Yeah, I think the state of California is a dead man walking but I also know that God knows how to take care of His own people that occupy the land.

    Thanks for your insights.

  20. I left a farm in Oklahoma in the early 80s and moved to Southern California. I went to work for the California Highway Patrol. I spent the last fifteen years of my twenty three year career working a Special Enforcement Unit / K-9 Unit. Made traffic stops on the cartel’s imported narcotics and exported U.S. currency loads. My last currency seizure was well over 3 million in cash concealed in the roof of a tractor trailer combination. The driver and co driver were released at the scene because it’s a waste of time to arrest them. Even if convicted for the felony violation, they would serve no time. My last drug traffic stop was an illegal transporting 8,500 Lbs of marijuana in a motorcycle trailer he was hauling. The driver spent one night in jail and was released. This is typical. Most of the criminals we deal with are receiving monetary benefits from the State whether they are legal citizens or not. There are some of the most faithful Christians I have ever known living and working in California. Obviously, their a minority. The state is overrun by illegals. Criminals are constantly released instead of incarcerated and most of the politicians are corrupt. They refuse to deal with the invasion of illegal foreigners and generational welfare recipients because those groups keep them in power. Like so many others, I retired early and left because I am convinced God is going to judge California first. If you have any doubts, look into what really goes on during these Gay Parades that sweep California annually. If I had not observed these events personally, I would not believe it. The violence is beyond belief and God has been kicked out of every public forum. I sincerely believe God has given California over to their reprobate minds. Pray for the true believers who are trapped there.

  21. Mike,

Thank you for your work in helping to keep our country safe as a CHP, you are appreciated…and I believe you are correct in your assessment of California.

  22. Don’t talk about Jesus and don’t quote the Constitution, but let us make a legal state holiday and movie promoting homosexuality…

In California, Harvey Milk Day is recognized as a legal state holiday. The holiday was established by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger in 2009 following the success of the award-winning feature film Milk retracing Milk’s life.

  23. I lived in California ( The Los Angeles Metro Area) from 1967 until I retired in 2008. My wife
was a kindergarten teacher in the Los Angeles School District from 1969 to 2008. We left because everything Don Koenig states in this article is true , except he understates the problems. It is much worse. Since my wife was a teacher she was a member ( reluctantly) of the
Teacher’s Union ( UTLA ) so I got to read all the union propganda garbage the union put out.
They could care less about educating students , just pay them more. The Los Angeles School
District is a bureaucratic non functioning nightmare beyond fixing.
