One-third of Americans abuse alcohol and almost all abuse something

Alcohol abuse is a huge problem in the US but there are problems with this report as well.

When binge drinking is label as having 3 or 4 drinks and that is defined as “problem drinking” then some are really creating drinking problems where it does not exist.

Asking people if they ever abused alcohol anytime in their life under predetermined criteria and then saying one third of Americans are alcohol abusers is like labeling one third of people violent because once in their life they were involved in a fight. Or if someone ever stole anything in their life labeling them as a thief forever.

More than one half of Americans have used Marijuana. How many once used deadly tobacco? Do we label all these as tobacco abusers for life?

The survey does tells us that most “abusers” do not seek medical treatment which tells us something else. Most abusers coped without treatment. Treatment for alcohol “abuse” is way overrated.

The real issue that nobody is looking at is why do people need to become dependent on anything? Most people are dependent on something, drugs, alcohol, tobacco, excessive food, sugar, TV, computers, religion, sex, gambling, gossip, obtaining wealth, sports, you name it. Could it be that most people do not find life on earth wonderful but often actually find life a drudgery that they need to find some escape from?

Well, the only real long term escape from being human is to get out of the natural bodies we live in. There are only two ways to do that. One is death and the other is to be born again into a new body that you will not wish to escape from. That second option is what Jesus came to give us.

Instead of looking at all the band-aids that people use to endure natural life we really need to present people with the only cure.

One-third of Americans abuse alcohol: survey Top News Reuters.com: “CHICAGO (Reuters) – Nearly one in three Americans abuse or become dependent on alcohol over the course of their lives, and most never seek treatment, according to a study published on Monday.”

  1. Don if ask me it’s all the same problem. NOw I know many are out there who say that the Bible say that you can drink in moderation. I think you I heard you espouse that and so you may disagree with me on this one. But the issue wich centers on this question is an entire partadigm shift. Which is, “is it ok to do a moderate amount of evil?” and issues across the board are geared towards this question.whether it be gambling cursing watching rated R movies etc. How much evil can a Christian get away with?
I believe we should at least try for none.

  2. Hi Matt,

First, just let me say I do not believe that alcohol use in moderation is a sin. Even medical science proves that it is healthy in moderation. I wrote about this in several articles on my website.

I am not encouraging people to do any evil at all. I just point out in my article that everyone does evil and I gave them the only cure for it. Anyone who says he does not sin is a liar.
Christians should strive to do no evil even though we should be quite aware that at times we will.

Jesus came to deliver us from out sins. The new nature He give us makes sin abhorrent to the man born from above but as long as we carry this human body around it will continue to war against the new man by use of the lusts of the flesh, the lusts of the eyes and the pride of life.

The point of this Blog is to show how demented society is becoming. It is not my intent in this Blog to teach biblical doctrine. I do use the biblical law as the moral reference for the issues I choose to address on this Blog but I also use common sense and logic.

I want this Blog to reach Christians and non Christians alike and to show them from selected current news articles how the world is being taken over by demented ungodly control freaks. I assume if they like what I have to say they might visit my website and find critical biblical truths there.

This article was posted because certain popular social problems are now being overblown on purpose by those with their own agenda to get everyone labeled as abusers. There solution is to get all the abusers to seek demonic psychotherapy with its doctrines of demons. It is even in the church programs such as Celebrate Recovery.

I also wanted to point out that the politically correct abusers get little air time(I gave some examples of these in my post).

The real point of this specific post is to point out that these surveys are self serving and they are not logical. They are designed to create problems were often none exist in order to gain even more control over society. For example, some will now use this survey to put more restrictions on the use of alcohol and make even more people in the United States criminals

There are some that will not be happy until there is complete prohibition. Yet, the huge morality problem that has little to do with alcohol is never addressed.

At the same time I wanted to show that almost everyone living on earth is dependent on something. It is not just those who abuse alcohol. Dependence is the norm in human society, so why only harp on political correct selected dependence issues when most of us are also dependent? There are now too many that see cetain trees but they miss the forest.

If we do not take a stand against the control freaks pushing these popular bandwagons the control freak bandwagon will soon be coming to take us away when they convince people that saying, Jesus is the only way to God, is a hate crime, or saying, homosexuality is a perversion, is a hate crime.

Jesus Christ came so we can be delivered from all dependence other then total dependence on God. He is the only solution to all dependence ills. Man’s solution to enforcing his version of morality always leads to Tyranny (Prime example – Islam.)
