The ingredients for a one term American President or the recipe for a long term dictator?

On the domestic front the author of this article should also have mentioned the amnesty no win program, terrorism, a run on the dollar, hyper inflation, high unemployment, riots, energy shortages, rationing, a draft, perhaps an EMP attack, thought police and maybe a police state. On the foreign threat he missed North Korea, Venezuela, and probably the next world war. Combine what Gerard Baker suggested in this article and what I just added, throw in a few unknown ingredients, turn the world upside down and let it simmer for a couple of years and what will come out of America’s melting pot?

This is the election you wouldn’t want to win | Gerard Baker – Times Online

It is highly probable that that moment, the very hour that he takes office, will be the high point of his presidency. Whoever wins on November 4 will be ascending to the job at one of the most difficult times for an American chief executive in at least half a century.

At some point reality will bite hard and politicians will discover that they simply cannot go on funding two wars, cutting taxes, creating vast new government health and pension programmes and doing the other essential things that the Federal Government does

The US is now indisputably entering the darkest phase of a period that will not only produce real hardship, but could send further shocks through financial markets and cause deeper fiscal damage.

Then there is energy policy. Weaning America off its oil addiction might actually need to be a policy rather than a slogan in the next four years; but that will place new burdens on the budget and require sacrifices difficult to make in good times, let alone in economically distressed ones.

Compared with all this, foreign policy looks like a doddle.

The next president has only to complete the process of transition in Iraq, win the war in Afghanistan, face down a resurgent Russia, continue to keep its foot on the throat of stateless Islamist terrorism, stop Iran from going nuclear and figure out what to do about the challenge from China – the most serious threat to US global hegemony since America became top nation.

Oh, and I didn’t mention Pakistan. Conversations this week with advisers to both campaigns suggest that both now see Pakistan – especially after last week’s terrorist attack in Islamabad – as perhaps the most intractable and serious challenge of all in the next few years: they candidly admit that no one has much of a clue what to do about it.

  1. I keep hearing that come election night there will be nationwide riots, especially if Obama loses. Now I can see the possibility of that with the media goading it on. But what do you think? Should I leave town (Houston) that week?

  2. The left is saying that for good reason. They will want it if they do not get their Obamanation.

I think the Far Left will incite civil unrest if Obama loses and I do not think it will be limited to soon after the election. They will oppose everything and cause civil unrest wherever that can trying to get McCain to give them their way like the spoiled brat children that they are.

If we attack Iran to stop them from getting nukes they will be fighting on the other side. It will be like Vietnam and the riots of the late 60’s but likely to get worse. If the economy gets real bad you know there will be riots just because they will demand more and more government handouts. They might even bring upon themselves a self fulling prophecy of a police state needed to restore order.

The Far Left simply cannot accept that most Americans do not think like the “enlightened” Far Left. However, having said that, I think an awful lot of people that are not Far Left have drank the Obama-Aid. So if Obama gets elected we have massive government wealth transfer programs and eventually secession movements starting in the Heartlands.

We are not entering a good period in this nation no matter who gets elected. I do not recommend that anyone live in big cities if you can get out

  3. I called the election for Obama atleast a year out simply by looking at the situation as a whole. The country was certainly ready (through the multi-culture) for such a man to come along. With the attacks daily against the Bush administration (most unwarranted) and this make a laughing stock out of every white male attitude from sitcoms to commercials it did not surprise me one bit that this country would fall for such a well spoken man from Chicago. It was the black male actor who mainly does commercials for Allstate and had been the first black president on the West Wing who said it was he who paved the way for an Obama president. They know exactly how powerful the media is at setting agenda for the lefts future.

When Kennedy through his hat in the ring for Obama (and Oprah prior) well that just sealed the deal all the more. I never doubted that he would get elected UNTIL Sarah showed up, then I thought, just maybe…but that did not last long because of the terrible campaign he ran and then the massive unpredicted attacks on Sarah from every liberal media personality you could mention against her. Then I saw his power over the people even more.

I also noted at that time that he would not only be seen as a new president for us but at some point be considered the first un-official president of the world. Not more than a month into his presidency did Dick Morris note on FOX that very thing but instead said he wants to be president of the world. I also will go on record that he will not be a one term president either. You said a recipe for dictator and I think that’s exactly where we are going on the Obama Express come 2012 and just maybe beyond 2016.

He is to big to fail, too much is at stake for the multi-culture to be set back by having the first black president fail in office. Self esteem for the multi-culture and inner city minorities is and will be job number one to prop up through the media. Just flip on your tube and you will see the condesending attitudes against people, who lets say are the traditional Americans. We will have become so much more socialized as a society at that point and he will have several years worth of graduated high school/college students for his supporters by then as well. I am surprised only two comments on this blog. 3 now.
