The answer is no. If they were judgments of God He would have removed His people out-of-the-way. I know that I will certainly hear the Christian TV repeaters claiming that the tornadoes happened because of Obama’s stance on Israel. After every natural disaster they look for some tit-for-tat relation to Israel. Of course, they mainly apply the tit-for-tat judgments to this country and never to nations that are Israel’s real enemies. It is silly presumption. If God wanted to judge America I doubt if He would destroy two of the most moral cities in our nation as some example of His judgment.

To me these tornadoes seem very much like a Job reenactment but on a much larger scale. I can see Satan coming before God after patrolling the earth and God saying to Satan have you seen how most people in Tuscaloosa and Joplin still fear me and that most in these cities hate the evil trend in America?

Then I can see Satan answering God and saying, “sure, because you have put a hedge around those cities and they are more blessed than other cities in America”; but just allow me to be your hand to destroy all their possessions; and let me kill some of those Jesus followers as well; and the rest of these Jesus followers in these cities will become just like those people that occupy Detroit and other such cities in America.”

Then God says to Satan, “it is within your power to destroy xx percent of these cities but you must not physically take the lives of more than xxx number of people because I have plans for all those that continue to trust in Me.”

Of course I do not know if this actually happened; but I would not be surprised if something much like that did happen. The book of Job was given to us for a reason. There is an adversary of man who is continually asking God for permission to test us. This testing did not stop with Job of the Old Testament. Jesus was tested by Satan. Jesus told Peter that Satan was asking God to sift him like wheat (Lu 22:31) and Satan obviously got permission to do just that, because Peter fell and denied Jesus. However, thanks to Jesus’ intercession, Peter’s faith was strengthened and this trial made Peter stronger and then Peter was able to strengthen the brethren. Job also was better off having gone through his trial and I think the same will be said about the people in Tuscaloosa and Joplin and all who go through trials in this life but hold on to their trust in the Lord.

I am sure that Joplin and Tuscaloosa will be rebuilt and the people will not lose their faith because they have people of faith living there. It seems one of Christians purposes on earth is an ongoing demonstration being played out for all in creation. Satan is an adversary that accuses humans that fear God. It seems that Satan continually asks to be able to try to sift humans that trust in God, expecting them to fail the test.

In other words, we are seeing a cosmic trial being played out. God is the impartial judge, all of creation is the witness. Satan and those that follow him want to prove that God’s experiment with creating humans to rule His creation is flawed. They think the sons of Adam are not worthy to rule over God’s creation. They want to rule. So they have accused humans ever since the fall of Adam and humans were rightly cut-off with death for their own sins.

However, in spite of Satan’s best efforts to stop Him, the Kinsman Redeemer of Adam came and paid the blood price and all creation is His inheritance. The delay is that the Father is preparing Jesus a Bride but Satan goes right on accusing and asking permission from God to try us like he did Job. He does not understand how trials and persecutions perfects the faith of the saints. Satan is full of pride and does not believe that he can be defeated. When he figures out that Jesus already came for His bride as a thief he will war against the Lord and he will be cast out of the heavens by Michael and then Satan will attempt to deceive everyone on earth. Satan through his Antichrist and False prophet will gather all deceived to oppose the Lord when He returns with His Bride to rule.

Tornadoes hitting Christian areas of the nation are not God’s judgment on America but they probably are a test of the faith of the Christians living there. There are other examples and statements in scripture that tell us that Christians are destined to go through persecutions and trials on earth and we should know that these testings will come from Satan; but it is a test of our faith not God’s judgment on America. When judgment of America comes there will be little doubt about it and it will not just impact a couple of rather decent cities.

2Co 4:11 For we which live are always delivered unto death for Jesus’ sake, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh.

Now in contrast, we hear a lesser tornado hits an area of this country where the people do not fear God and the looters immediately come out.

After the recent tornadoes in Alabama and Missouri I know some people are wondering if they are judgments of God on America.
