Chuck Colson says Christians cannot defend their faith

I agree with the spirit of Chuck Colson’s quoted statement but lets look at the issue and at what Colson said and did not say a little more closely.

The main reason “Christians” cannot defend their faith is because most of them are not Christians at all. They have no faith other than some faith in fulfilling some man-made religious requirements that they believe will make them righteous with God.

People privatize their faith because they believe that have nothing to offer anyone and they are largely correct.

Many true believers will not talk about their faith because they know they are biblically illiterate and that they cannot intelligently talk about Christian doctrine. The church institutions are not helping the matter when they dumb down doctrine.

A major problem is that the church does not understand current events or see the end plan because few teach about Bible prophecy today. Teachers blinded to Bible prophecy cannot provide answers for the great evils we see rising in the world today. How can the Church understand the evil of Islam rising against Christianity and Israel if it does not even know or acknowledge that Islam has an evil root, a evil agenda and a evil end? Many Christian leaders claim that Islam worships the same God but their religion opposes every revelation that we were given in God’s word. Teachings from people like Chuck Colson are partly to blame for the worldviews we see in Christianity today on current issues like Islam and in my opinion this blindness has even opposed what God said in this area.

Theories of Psychotherapy are already taught as truth and they are the focus of many church programs and seminars. Theories of psychology are also used in their fund raising techniques but certain people like Colson believe that is quite alright.

The church buildings may have been built as places for worshiping God but God is worshiped in spirit and in truth. The Church is all the members of the body of Christ. The Church is the people and not the buildings or institutions where they gather in to worship together. “The Church is for worshiping God” as Colson said, but both the church buildings and the church people are made for other purposes as well.

Colson: Christians must stop ‘privatizing’ faith (OneNewsNow.com): “Colson believes most Christians cannot defend their faith because the church no longer puts a premium on the defense of biblical truth. ‘We privatize the faith,’ he says. ‘We don’t care so much any longer about truth, as we do about therapy.
‘You know, when truth retreats in a church, therapy takes over — [we are more concerned about] how can we make people feel better about themselves. That’s not what the church is for,’ he states. ‘The church is for worshipping God.'”
