New evangelicalism usually also means denying Bible inerrancy

I recently read the book “New Evangelicalism“, by Paul Richard Smith, founder of Calvary Chapel Victorville CA. Paul Smith is a leader in the Calvary Chapel movement founded by his brother Chuck Smith, who also wrote the foreword to Paul Smith’s book.

The book gives a brief history of modern Protestantism beginning with modernism where scripture became critically analyzed through the filters of the philosophies of 19th and early 20th century humanist intellectuals. This humanistic intellectual analysis of the scriptures became known as “higher criticism”. I took one of those silly “higher criticism” courses in college myself.

I will give you my own take on modernism; most of what I will say about modernism in Christianity does not come from Paul Smith’s book, but from what I read in his book, I think Paul Smith would agree with most of it.… continue reading

If Bible prophecy will be fulfilled, why expect worldly solutions?

American Christians who are aware of Bible prophecy should not be surprised or unduly concerned by the lawlessness and insanity that we are seeing in our nation and the world. If we believe Bible prophecy will be fulfilled in our generation why would we now expect America or the world to come up with solutions for a world that will prove to be doomed without Jesus?

Why should we expect the prophecies about what would happen in the last days, to not happen, if we are indeed in the last days? If these things were not already happening before our eyes, I would have to question my own presumption that the prophetic scriptures about the end of the age will be totally fulfilled within a couple of decades.… continue reading

The prophetic end of the age is likely to occur around 2030 AD.

I personally think we have about 20 years left before we complete the prophetic end of the age and enter the millennial reign of Jesus. If that is true, I think many things must happen in the next twenty years, so be very careful about what you buy into. If my timing is correct, and Jesus comes for the faithful Church prior to the tribulation, then at most there is ten to fifteen years left to work before the Rapture. If we are that close to the second coming, then the stage for some of the end time prophetic events should already be observable in the world.… continue reading

Dr. James McGrath: Christians should not expect literal second coming

Dr. James F. McGrath of Butler University teaches courses on New Testament Language and Literature. However, anyone attending his courses really ought to investigate the heretical views that they will be taught at Butler University by professor McGrath.

Dr. James F. McGrath made this statement in bold on his own Exploring Our Matrex Blog:

It does not make sense for Christians to continue to expect a literal “second coming” of Jesus.

I also read online from his very own words that Dr. McGrath claims to be a reformed Christian in the same sense as a Reformed Jew. Reformed Jews are reformed for a reason.… continue reading

Koenig’s perspectives on Bible prophecy and world issues Jan 2012

Our government had better start dealing with the threats against this country or we are going to wake up to an EMP one day soon. Iran is frantically building missile bases in Venezuela with the thought of having intermediate range nuclear tipped missiles that could easily reach the United States. Anyone who thinks we can allow Iran to gets nukes because they are no threat to America is out of touch with reality.

We do not even know that Iran does not have nukes already and even if they don’t, they could have nukes anytime they want. The time to deal with Iran was years ago and the time to deal with that tin horn dictator in Venezuela is now.… continue reading

SBC and Evangelicals seekers shift toward mystical emergent church

“Christian” leaders that appeared on the church platforms of Saddleback, Willow Creek, Crystal Cathedral and other mega churches told us that a “big shift” was coming in Christianity and it has. This shift has been from following the written word of God to following mystical beliefs. This will eventually split the Evangelicals and their largest denomination.

The Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) and other Evangelicals are slowly but surely being led by the seeker friendly gurus toward embracing the postmodern relativistic mystical concepts and leaders of the Emergent Church Movement.

This danger is greater than the division in the ranks of the SBC some years ago when liberals had unduly influenced the SBC leadership.… continue reading

The Great Apostasy of the Evangelicals

I think the most shocking thing going on in our nation is not that Marxists are actively running and ruining America. After all, people that reject God in any nation are going to look for a human substitute for God. The most shocking thing in America is that heretics are now taking over the Christian Evangelical movement in America and few Evangelicals notice or care.

If you take the Bible believing evangelicals that give the gospel of salvation to the world out of America, a Christian might have to wonder if God has any good purpose left for this nation in the world.… continue reading

Restoring Paradise Lost from secular Left or the religious Right?

Restoring Paradise Lost from the idealist secular Left or the presumptuous religious Right is not possible. Paradise Lost can only be restored after Jesus returns.

The Left worldview believes humankind can restore Paradise Lost through the collective efforts of man led by the most evolved human elite. Most on the Left believes that God is a creation of man, or is man, or at the very least, God is impersonal and detached from His creation. Therefore, in their worldview, God is not a factor in restoring Paradise Lost. They believe man must restore paradise through his own efforts.

There is a similar worldview that actually comes through world religion.… continue reading

Biblical ignorance within Christendom waters Satan’s plants!

Christian discernment is learning the difference between what is good and what is evil, what is of God and what is a lie from Satan. The Bible was given to us to help us do that. Anything that is contrary to what God said in His word is Satanic. There is an obvious lack of discernment in Christendom today because many confessing Christians do not know what God said. They cannot discern the truth so they cannot see the difference between God’s plants and Satan’s plants in the world. Some Christians like to water toxic weeds and then they wonder why it produces deadly runoff.… continue reading

Compromising the gospel for church growth and American idol heretics.

I get no joy out of telling people that much of what is being passed off as Christianity today is counterfeit. Those American Idols that are pushing modern heresies on people may think they are being opened minded but they really have become a willing door of Satanic deception. Satan’s goal is to get people who identify with Christianity to doubt fundamental doctrines that uniquely define who a Christian is. Satan then substitutes Christian doctrine with doctrines of demons in order to create counterfeits of the Christian religion. These demonic bastardizations of Christianity are not true Christianity.

for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.

Those obsessed with Bible prophecy might become unprofitable servants

This title seems more like it would come from someone like Rick Warren than someone like me that has a Bible prophecy website. Nevertheless, my observations and my own experience tells me that many that become obsessed with Bible prophecy may become unprofitable servants. There is a danger that some of these Christians will do little for the cause of Christ during their whole lives.

Let me clarify that I am not talking about those called to the teaching ministry, especially those that major in Eschatology. Nor, am I saying that Christians should not be interested in learning all they can about Bible prophecy.… continue reading

Rick Warren picks pagans to lead “Daniel Plan” in his “decade of destiny”.

I believe I have about 43 posts on this blog that either are about Rick Warren or his name is mentioned in the article for some reason. I also wrote articles that reside on my website about Warren’s seeker sensitive church growth model and Rick Warren’s Global P.E.A.C.E plan. I have been disagreeing with Rick Warren’s agenda for a better part of a decade.

I have been writing about “America’s pastor”, since his Purpose Driven Life was thrust in my hands to read. I found problems with the book and had bigger problems with the churches that adopted his seeker sensitive methods and his gospel light sermons.… continue reading

More baloney piled high on Rutz Crackers for the latest NAR Megashift

I was dumbfounded when I read a WorldNetDaily (WND) exclusive that had this headline, “Christianity taking over planet?” The article was promoting the claims of Jim Rutz and his book named “Megashift”. Rutz said Christianity was growing so fast that the whole world could become Christian by 2032. He also claimed that many people were being raised from the dead all over the world and people were being converted by seeing signs and miracles from the New Apostolic Reformation (NAR) anointed apostles, prophets and miracle workers.

I really was not born on a turnip truck so I put my hip boots on and looked into the Rutz claims and I found out that Rutz is just selling crackers piled high with more NAR baloney.… continue reading

Camping with Rapture loons in 2011

Harold Camping is teaching thousands of the loons that follow him that the Rapture will happen on May 21, 2011. Camping also teaches that the end of the world will occur just four months later on October 21st 2011.

I think all these birdbrains are in for a rude awaking on May 22, 2011 when they find themselves still here after they burned all their bridges on earth in the days of their acting like April fools.

Some of these loons will then probably think that they did not make the Rapture and think that they will reap God’s judgments until they find out that Harold Camping is also still here recalculating what he now claims cannot be wrong.… continue reading

Here is a BreakPoint: Chuck Colson’s worldviews often are befuddling

I almost could not believe my ears this morning when I heard Chuck Colson give one of his BreakPoint commentaries. Here is a man that claims to be a top authority on Christian worldviews. However, his Christian worldviews sometimes seem to be the worldviews of someone who is too accommodating to the enemies of the true gospel. This is the not the first time that Chuck Colson’s viewpoints have left me befuddled although generally I do agree with most of what he says on BreakPoint.

I have issues with what Colson has said before, especially on his very confused ecumenical theology, but his supporting Oprah Winfrey’s book club on his BreakPoint commentary just because Oprah’s book club has two good picks this month takes the cake.… continue reading

Obama is acting out Christian Black Liberation theology on America

Some very misled Evangelicals are saying that Obama is a Christian that once was attending a Christian Black Liberation Theology church but they have it backwards. Christian Black Liberation Theology is attending the mind of Obama. Most everything Obama is doing to America reflects the beliefs of a person driven by “Christian” Black Liberation Theology.

Ann Coulter did a fine job coming to Obama’s defense about him not be a Muslim. She claims that Obama is really an atheist. That probably is true because he supports evil social concepts as if there is no God, but atheism is not the way Obama was religiously and culturally programed for most of his adult life.… continue reading

Common misapplications of selected scriptures

Selected scriptures are often commonly parroted by well meaning and also some not so well meaning Christians in America that are simply misapplications of God’s word. I will point out a few here but if you are a serious student of the scriptures others may come to your mind so feel free to share them here. I hope if nothing else this post will get people to look at the full context of a passage in the light of all of God’s word so they will not use selected misapplications as spiritual applications for today. Here are five examples of commonly used misapplications of selected scripture passages.… continue reading

The relationship between making Bible passages allegory and heretical cults

The Bible contains allegory but when it does it is also makes it clear in the passage. I think along with legalism there is a strong relationship between those that twist Bible passages into allegory and heretical movements and cults.

We can look at the history of Christianity since the Apostles and we will see a reoccurring pattern between allegory and heresy. The first heretics were legalists that wanted to put Jews that found the Messiah back under Jewish law. Soon after we know that gnostic heretics became a plague on the Church. They made scriptures allegorical so it would comply with their old and new mystical beliefs.… continue reading

Koenig’s perspectives on Bible prophecy and world issues, July 2010

I decided to start a monthly series on my perspectives on world and church issues. Some will have some bearing on end time Bible prophecy.

For those who do not know me and found this post through a search engine. I have had a website called The Prophetic Years for over ten years. For the last three years the site also hosts a Blog named World and Church Trends and Bible Prophecy. This blog is where these monthly perspectives are posted along with other posts of interest usually related to the Blog title. I will create a special category on the sidebar for these perspectives so you can find them all in one place.… continue reading

Rising Christian Imperialism Fueled by Dominion Theology

Most Christians might think I would have to be nuts to warn others about the possibility of rising Christian imperialism at a time when Christianity is under oppression by the secular Far Left and Islam but apart from my mental condition I try to stay one step ahead of the curve.

One thing that I have learned over the years about politics is that political action on one side of the political spectrum soon produces a counter-reaction from the other side of the spectrum after a short time. The reason for that is that any political system that man tries always ends in failure due to man’s depravity.… continue reading
