WMD Attack on the U.S. by Russia or China - Imminent danger to the U.S. #5

Possible Cause - A war over Taiwan between the United States and China or a war that is due to Russia's Middle East intervention as stated in the unfilled prophecy of Ezekiel chapters 38 and 39. The prophecy indicates that those who occupy the territory that is now in the area of Russia will come with a great army and with other nations against Israel in the latter years and fire will fall on cities in Russia and the coastlands (or isles).
U.S. vulnerability - The United States is taking measures to protect itself from a missile attack. However, these anti-missile defenses will barely be sufficient against rogue nuclear nations like North Korea or an accidental launch. They simply cannot stop a weapons of mass destruction (WMD) attack by a major nuclear power. They would have little success against nuclear cruise missiles launched from submarines. Further, there are plasma and pulse weapons being developed in Russia and China that will take WMD to a new level. Many in the U.S. believe Russia's military is no longer a threat. Nothing could be further from the truth. Russia still has more than enough nuclear capability to destroy the United States many times over. I do not see the likelihood of a WMD attack by a major power against the United States in the next 10 to 15 years. Nevertheless, it certainly is a possibility especially after the year 2020 and I would be remiss not to include this as an imminent danger to the United States.
Effects - Just two offshore submarines equipped with nuclear cruise missiles and missiles tipped with multiple nuclear warheads could hit hundreds of targets and cause great destruction in every major city in the United States. It certainly would eliminate her as an economic superpower in the world. There is no need to get into all of the gory details that such an attack would have on the United States. Simply said, it would bring complete breakdown of her society followed by a police state.
Likelihood of Russia, China or France launching a WMD attack before 2025 AD?
That scenario is about a three on a scale of one to ten. Any WMD attack from a major power is not likely in the early years of this period but it becomes increasing more likely in the later years. A massive WMD attack would be the most catastrophic of all the imminent dangers to the United States. It certainly would eliminate the United States from being a world superpower.
If the fire that falls on the coastlands (or isles) in Ezekiel chapters 38 and 39 is referring to nuclear war, and the U.S. is involved in the war, this war could occur before the Day of the Lord. However, prophecy students differ on the exact timing of this war and any indication that the U.S. will be involved in this war is rather subjective.
China will become a world superpower in the later part of this period and her leaders have said that war between China and the United States is inevitable. I think that this is true if the United States remains the force opposing her; However, I believe China marches during the Day of the Lord. Thus, if my assumption that the start of the Day of the Lord is sometime between 2020 AD and 2040 AD is true, any major war with China and the U.S. is not likely to occur before she marches with the kings of the East in the Day of the Lord. If there were a nuclear war with the U.S. before this period, I seriously doubt China would be left in any condition to be a world superpower in the Day of the Lord.
It is also my thesis in this series that the United States will no longer be a superpower when the Day of the Lord begins; Thus, the U.S. in my opinion would not be a major factor in the day China marches to the Middle East. Therefore, logically, China will not launch a nuclear war against the United States before the Day of the Lord and the United States will not be eliminated as a world superpower before the Day of the Lord by a nuclear attack from China.
My reference to a WMD attack from France is a joke, right? Well, perhaps.
What can the United States do to avoid a WMD attack from a major world power?
There really would be little the U.S. could do to stop a WMD attack on her major cities except to assure that any attack would bring mutually assured destruction (MAD) to the nation who attacked her. Physically, the United States needs to stay militarily strong so no enemy would dare attack her. Spiritually, the United States needs to return to God because He is the ultimate defense of any nation.
