America is so divided on ideology that I do not see how it can remain one nation much longer. By 2013, no matter who is elected as President, almost half the nation will be so against the other half and those in power, that I believe there will be mass disobedience and violence.
I don’t think I need to explain the differences between the worldviews of liberals and conservatives, or Christian true believers and social Christians and non believers. Even Abraham and Lot who were two men of God had to split company because of squabbles between their many servants. How much more so will people in nations that have different worldviews and nothing in common, also need to split?
Lot chose the plain cities to settle and Abraham was satisfied with the rural high country. Lot had a progressive worldview and Abraham was a conservative. Those with Lot went to the big cities and they got caught up in the evil perverted ways of the local natives. God eventually destroyed the whole lot of them when they became psychopathic sex predators (the sex predators probably were also qualifying for disability compensation entitlements like the pedophiles in Greece today).
I am sure righteous Lot was trying to witness to the people of Sodom but they rejected all reason and started the first “occupy” the city square movement. Soon those that were running the city also gave them a free license to rape anyone that entered their domain. Lusts are never satisfied and permissiveness enables it.
On the other hand, Abraham lived in less “progressive” rural areas and prospered and even interceded for Lot on more than one occasion. How many times have rural Christians and conservatives bailed out populated areas hit by natural disaster? Abraham had to rescue Lot in war and it is also mostly rural people who are fighting the wars for America.
It’s not a perfect analogy for sure, but you have to admit that most of those that live in rural areas are God-fearing and most of those in most big cities just do whatever is right in their own eyes and whatever they can get away with – and even when it is not right in anyone’s eyes (they think it is only wrong if they get caught).
The different worldviews and locations are a perfect scenario for guerrilla warfare where the tyrannical leader temporarily holds the cities with superior forces but the rural areas are controlled by a guerrilla resistance movement. How many times have we already seen this scenario play out in the world? It is happening as I speak, in several areas of the world.
The fact is that no solution from government will work in a country so divided by class warfare. Government made laws have enabled almost half of the people in this nation to become government dependents. The other non dependents create wealth by working but they are fed up with paying the expenses of government dependents. Our government is still spending nearly twice what it takes in and the economy is not going to recover until they have a balanced budget and write off or inflate away much of the national debt. Government overspending and the increasing debt load will not allow any significant recovery to occur.
If Obama and company win the 2012 election they are going to continue destroying this nation and then resistance to his tyrannical rule becomes predictable.
If a true Conservative is elected and they try to save the Republic through huge cuts in entitlements, the dependent class in the cities are sure to turn to violence and looting. If the administration then sends in troops to try to stop the violence you will see Iraq playing out right here in our own cities. If the administration relents and gives the dependent class what they demand, the only recourse is much higher taxes and a resultant economic depression. Then you will see organized resistance from conservatives living in the rural areas of the country.
There probably is only one way to prevent the coming civil upheavals and that is to agree to form two or more separate Unions. One Union would remain under the present Constitution, and the other or others, would form a constitutional convention to write the laws for their own Union.
So how do you split up a nation when there are no common borders to split? How do you think this can be achieved peacefully? Should states and counties help people to relocate to their area, or is there some other way? Even if we could split the nation how do you go about splitting the national burdens and benefits? It seems like an insurmountable problem, so I guess there will have to be another civil war instead.
Great example Don. I have used that exact same example in discussions with people. Our differences are too fundamental to be able reconcile them. We are no longer a UNITED states. The best solution is for us to each go our own way. I don’t think that can happen without bloodshed though. (I moved not too long ago to an area that I think would end up on the “right” side of things if that were to happen.)

If there was a geographical separation of ideologies would it change things. The socialist rats would have to leave their sinking ship to survive and would infest the conservatives ‘ware’houses.
In such a situation it is inevitable that a concerted effort to exterminate the rats would occur.

We tried this experiment once before. In 1861 a large part of the country split — they did it legally and constitutionally. Read the works of Southerners alive at that time to determine their justification for seceeding — not the revised history we’re fed today. Read the first chapter of Raphael Semmes’s “Memories of Service Afloat” for example. At that time, the Federal Government under the command of Lincoln took up arms against the newly formed country (which by the way Lincoln recognized as a legitimate country by blockading its harbors) and in so doing, violated the Constitution. The process of shattering that document has been going one ever since.
Another example is Judah and Israel. If we were to follow that ancient example successfully this time, I think you’d see a similar pattern of immigration/emigration. Over a period of perhaps a generation the liberals would migrate to where they felt comfortable and the conservatives to their comfort zone. Of course, that’s all predicated upon the Lord delaying his return. Hopefully, He’ll come back soon and we won’t have to deal with the bloody mess another civil war would make.
When we draw the new line, I hope Missouri is included with the conservatives. 😉

Missouri would be very conservative if it were not for St Louis and Kansas City. And that points out the problem in most states. It is the big cities. So how do you draw a line around them?

Unfortunately, you can’t take an Exacto knife to the state/country. You just have to draw the new line where it needs to be and begin governing according to the Constitution. That in itself ought to make liberals feel like a tick infested dog — hopefully so much so they’ll want to move to more friendly environs.
Maybe they’ll fight? No one said it would be easy, but the sort of freedom our forefathers had in mind is worth fighting for.

The only way your 2013 prediction would come upon America is through much spilt blood. I don’t see the courage in enough people to make that happen… or to produce a victory for the good guys – to few of them.
I like What John Adams says about a Democracy, that it wastes away and murders itself. What the new synthesis out of that would be (considering the culture of our day) is very scary! I don’t see a promised land in the American Midwest or anywhere on Earth for that matter!

Christians getting serious? I don’t see that happening. We are already seeing Nazi Germany being resurrected in this country. Just walk into any airport and watch the blue-shirt gestapo at work. All we we really have — all we’ve ever had — is our trust in God to take care of us in the coming years. We tend to not see the big picture, to only look at our own small personal stories while around us God’s metanarrative is being played out.
It’s fun (and maybe comforting, even) to fantasize about a righteous rebellion setting this country back on track. Only, don’t hold your breath.

Yes… living in the midst of our hour, one can’t imagine History repeating itself in such ugly ways – yet the day tells the hour that it “can” happen, and the week seven times over concurs with the day, and the Month is adamant that it “has” happened, and the year reveals what the hour denied all along… and then it is upon us “happening” all over again. So it is with death; so certain it is, so encircled by it we are, it is the one thing that requires absolutely no faith on that part of man. Yet how many men put off its ramification to the last hour, and go to that wall having never considered His Maker, nor his very own Soul.
Yes one wonders how the West will continue to exist as it rots from within and without. I am not foolish enough to think that what happens south of us will not impact us. But will we dissintigrate faster than the approaching of End times? Or will the rise of something new or the coming ME conflicts distract us?
Still things are shifting in a dangerous way to bring us all to the edge where we become willing to exchange our crisies for a quick fix.
In the midst of all this world crisis I can’t help but remember the Star Wars scene when the Challelor is given all power and Senator Amadala comments “So this is how democracy dies. With thunderous applause.”

don, i have been reading your blog for about 5 months now and have found it very interesting and informative. i have never posted a comment before, so this is my first one. i believe the only great divide that will work is the RAPTURE. i dont think that it will belong before the Lord whisks us away with everything that is taking place. i just pray and hope that all of my family and friends who are lost will be saved before that great day.

Dear American liberals, leftists, social progressives, socialists, Marxists and Obama supporters, et al:We have stuck together since the late 1950’s for the sake of the kids, but the whole of this latest election process has made me realize that I want a divorce. I know we tolerated each other for many years for the sake of future generations, but sadly, this relationship has clearly run its course.
Our two ideological sides of America cannot and will not ever agree on what
is right for us all, so let’s just end it on friendly terms. We can smile and chalk it up to irreconcilable differences and go our own way.
Here is a model separation agreement:
–Our two groups can equitably divide up the country by landmass each taking a similar portion. That will be
the difficult part, but I am sure our two sides can come to a friendly agreement. After that, it should be relatively easy! Our respective representatives can effortlessly divide other assets since both sides have such distinct and disparate tastes.
–We don’t like redistributive taxes so you can keep them.
–You are welcome to the liberal judges and the ACLU.–Since you hate guns and war, we’ll take our firearms, the cops, the NRA and the military.
–We’ll take the nasty, smelly oil industry and you can go with wind, solar and biodiesel.
–You can keep Oprah, Michael Moore and Rosie O’Donnell. You are, however, responsible for finding a bio-diesel vehicle big enough to move all three of them.
–We’ll keep capitalism, greedy corporations, pharmaceutical companies, Wal-Mart and Wall Street.

I am wondering if there are any principles about morality or financial stewardship this nation has not violated, ignored and trampled on. The dependent class has become just that… Dependent. Dependent upon entitlements in the same manner that people have become addicted to drugs. There is an interesting parallel between the progression of drug addiction, and government handout dependence.
If a true conservative were to become President, and attempt to cut back on these handouts, the reaction would be the same as going through opiate withdrawal. It is truly a Godless state of affairs.

I dont think it will get that far anyway. if the powers that be see that we will have an inevitable civil im sure some event will happen that will get our attention off fighting each other. ww3 is a good option.

True. Either way there will be ww3 and probably civil war at home also. Even ww3 would only be a momentary distraction and when it’s over (if we win) we will go right back to fighting each other. We are just too divided to remain unified much longer. I think it’s best to spiritually prepare for the times ahead and realize God is in control. I just don’t see any way out of this mess. I think it’s too late to save the country but you can save yourself alot of problems by prepareing physically and spiritually to what we know is coming.
