That’s not the God I know from reading the Bible; it’s not the God whose Spirit is in my being (according to His promise in scripture).
You are describing a caricature of God that sounds more like the typical human.
The “god” who is pure-emotion as you describe, is also the one who designed all the sub-atomic particles and arranged everything that you can perceive AND holds it all together. Such a being is infinitely bigger than we are in a respects we can conceive.
Scripture was written by God as He inspired his people. That is, one mind authored the Bible even though a number of people actual wrote the words. This God is a person, but not in a way that is less than us, rather our personalities in all their richness are as shadows to the One person in whose image we are created.
Honestly Daniel, you sound like you know a lot *about* God, but you don’t sound like you know Jesus personally. Jesus hates sin just as the Father and Spirit do, BUT God would much rather redeem fallen people than destroy them. I know that He would not want you to “take-out” people you believe to be sinning. (Also, I would point-out that the sin of homosexuality is no “worse” than that of divorce or stealing, or improperly-handled anger (such as you seem to be demonstrating in your post) – each of these things is sin and each brings death.) Justice has already been served: Jesus took the punishment and wrath of God due to each of us – we are responsible to accept this gift of forgiveness. God will give to each of His creation what they truly want: to those who really want Him, they will enjoy Him forever in Heaven; those who want nothing to do with God, will exist eternally separated from Him (and the rest of redeemed creation).
Perhaps you *do* know Jesus personally, then I would humbly ask that you consider the way you look at others who need our prayers and pity rather than our condemnation. Homosexually may disgust you, but it’s a tragic problem that goes far deeper into a person than simply who they want to copulate with – it’s a profound issue of their identity as humans – that’s why it’s so hard to reach them with God’s truth. Attitudes such as you have displayed in your post drive these people immeasurably further from God than their own sin does! We are to speak the truth in love, not in anger or hated; we are to hate the sin, but love the sinner – these things let the healing balm of the Gospel penetrate seared hearts.
If you don’t know Jesus personally, then much of what I just wrote won’t resonate with you, but if you ask God with a sincerely-open mind to help you understand who and what He is from the scripture, then He will do this. He *wants* you to know Him personally and has expended all kinds of effort to make this possible. I was once skeptical about this very thing, but in order to remain intellectually honest, I had to humble myself to start reading the Bible and ask God (if He even existed) to make the scriptures alive and clear to me. Could it be possible that you are assuming what God is like without actually learning this for yourself by reading the Bible with an open mind and sincere desire to learn the truth and seek God. God will be found by anyone who really wants Him; He often hides himself from people who think they already have all the answers and who really don’t want any part of Him.

Yeah, God gave his Son to pay for ALL the sins of the world. Now is the time for all sinners to find His mercy in Jesus Christ. The real mortal danger is rejecting this free gift of grace from God. Let the saved tell the world this good news, its the great commission for the saved and it is why we are still here.

I do not hate Obama or Liberals. What I really try to do here is inform Christians and non Christians about truth as I understand it.
I do not disagree with most of your points about what the homosexual agenda brings on our societies and informed people certainly should hate their destructive agenda. However, you have to realize that people in sin are deceived and sin cannot be corrected by having hatred toward those living in sin. Those that are into drug use and those that are under the influence of most religions are just as destructive to society as homosexuals. In fact, all that live in sin are destructive to society so should we hate everyone that is sinning because God hates sin?
NO. God choose to give mankind mercy through the sacrifice of His Son for all sin. The only way people are led from sinful destructive lifestyles is realizing the truth about their sin and finding out how they can be delivered from their sins through Jesus Christ.
I have no problem with those telling the truth and that point out the destruction that certain sinful lifestyle bring on society. But, if all Christians resorted to fighting evil with hated there would be no salt and light, there would be no Great Commission and nobody would hear about God’s Salvation and Jesus would have come and died for nothing. So along with the facts about the evils of homosexuality on society (that I agree with) give mercy through Jesus Christ for those that are trapped in this destructive lifestyle and educate others about the dangers to society. This scripture is interesting because Jesus separates the hateful deeds from the people committing them:
‘Yet this you do have, that you hate the deeds of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate. (Rev 2:6)
So how did Jesus react to the woman caught in adultery? (John 8:11) It’s arguable that adultery has done far more damage to the human race than homosexuality ever has; it is without question, it’s vastly more common. Yet we often “wink” at people in this sin while take a flame-thrower to the homosexual. We have all sinned; we all need Jesus.
Jesus hung around sinners and he told them the truth about their sin, but He was usually gentle and helpful, encouraging them to leave their sin. The people Jesus had the biggest problem with were the self-righteous, and hypocrites and those with double-standards.
While the statement: “Hate the sin and love the sinner” does not actually appear in the Bible, it is clear that this is what Jesus does and what we are expected to do:
For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. (John 3:17)
I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent. (Luke 15:7)
For if, when we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life! (Romans 5:10)

There are any number of ways we can do this without stooping to hating those who sin. We *can* oppose the homosexual (or radical feminist) agenda while treating individual homosexuals (and radical feminists) with respect and love as people who bear God’s image along with ourselves.
Eric, do you want to be measured with the same sort of “measure” you are using against homosexuals? What is *your* particular besetting sin? Would it help you surrender your sin to Jesus if you were stigmatized by this sin? Would it help you repent if everywhere you turned people screamed at you: “God Hates You {derogatory label}!!!” (AND/OR if they didn’t actually say they, they acted like they wanted to?) Wouldn’t you likely react badly to people and a society with such an attitude?

This is not being soft on sin, rather it is recognizing that we all have a sin problem and by treating our own and other people’s sin with the attitude that Christ had/has it becomes more likely that we/they will accept God’s solution to it.
Now, there are people who’s hearts are seared, but even there we don’t consign them to Hell: we pray for them; we pray that God will mend their hearts enough to be able to hear His voice enough to be saved. Once saved, the Spirit will inexorably cause their lives to be redeemed.

Ok, Don and Brett, i understand were you are both coming from but what would you suggest that i do? I know that God loves all of us, i know that those people out there who shout to gay people that god hates them, i know they are in the wrong b/c the truth is that God is so patient with us that he is waiting and wants us to cry out to him, that we are all his children and he doesnt want anyone to perish. It is okay to be an activist against what homosexuals are bringing on society. That is not hate. It is also okay not to like destructive people. That is not hate. We can’t all get along in spite of what some say.
For example, a doctor can be disgusted with smokers because he knows it kills people and knows it will shorten their own life by 15 years. A doctor can also dislike associating with smokers because they are both a physical and emotional irritation to him as well as being dangerous to his own health or someone else through second hand smoke. But wanting no association with them is not hate. However, if the doctor will do nothing to educate smokers about the ill effects of their habit, will not warn them to get off smokes, and will not treat them when they get ill only because he believes they are getting their just deserts. That is hate.
A prime example of Christians living among homosexuals is Lot. He hated what was going on in Sodom. It vexed his soul and he even pleaded with the homosexuals not to sin against his guests but they would not listen. Therefore, righteous Lot was taken out and then God’s brought judgment on the Sodomites. Lot was not showing hate by contenting with the people in the city.
Even being what homosexuals like to call homophobes is not hate. There is good reason to fear what these people bring on society. 1 in 5 has HIV and because of HIV immune deficiency they spread all kinds of other antibiotic resistant diseases like MRSA even to the general population. If anyone has an argument with that statement check out the medical facts for yourself.

What is most disturbing to me is that too many in “Christendom” are not seeing very clearly what you just said.
This has all been foretold in the Bible. I feel we are living in the last days before the coming of the Lord, and I pray we will all be ready when He comes for His own. We should continue to spread the gospel of Jesus and pray without ceasing, but this world is winding down fast! We must tell as many as will listen that Jesus saves! As it is written so shall it be in the last days, I pray we are all ready for it. May the Lord bless each and everyone in this world, it is not His will that any should perish. Accept Jesus now, the hour groweth late people!
